A loving husband, father and grandfather, known for his quick wit, Cliff Hughes passed away on July 15, 2014.
He was born and raised in California, attended Sonora Union High School and then Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, Calif., where he excelled in swimming and honed his singing and acting skills in the Glee Club and in drama productions.
After graduating, he attended the University of San Francisco, adding Rifle Club and ROTC to his list of activities. He retired to Twain Harte to live his dream of “playing with trains all day” by volunteering with his friends at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown. The public saw him in his uniform as station master, as the Railtown Train Parade Float Engineer and he helped restore the much publicized Caboose No. 7.
