Gene Leslie ‘Geno’ Roberts

Angels Camp resident Gene Leslie “Geno” Roberts died May 17. He was 57.
Mr. Roberts was born in Eugene, Ore., to Stanley and Adeline Roberts.
He spent his childhood years mowing lawns, fishing, playing Little League Baseball and was a member of the Indian Guides.
His family moved to California in 1968. Mr. Roberts graduated from Del Mar High School in San Jose in 1973.
He lived and worked in the Bay Area for many years until moving to Calaveras County in 1990.
He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and fixing things.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his children and their spouses, Jennifer and Thomas Akers, of Paso Robles, and Jacob and Lindsay Roberts, of Andover, Minn.; sisters, Beth Skillern, of Portland, Ore., Carolyn Hamm of Herndon, Va., and Cheryl Roberts, of Murphys; two granddaughters; and five nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

Robert Russell Thompson

Soulsbyville resident Robert Russell Thompson died Saturday at Oak Terrace Memory Care in Soulsbyville. He was 87.
Mr. Thompson was born in Miles City, Mont., to Essie and Delroy Thompson.
His family moved to California after his father’s death in 1939.
Mr. Thompson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Seabee.
He worked as a roofing contractor in the Bay Area for a number of years. He retired from roofing 40 years ago and moved to Tuolumne County. He opened Sierra Tool and Equipment Rental in Twain Harte, which he ran for 20 years.
He lived in Bend, Ore., for a few years until returning to Tuolumne County two years ago due to his health.
Mr. Thompson enjoyed woodworking, camping and boating and was a member of the Moose Lodge, Rotary Club and Elks Lodge in Sonora. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Bend.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his first wife, Neoma Collins Thompson; in 2005, second wife, Ruth Robbins Thompson, in the late 1990s; third wife, Jeanette Thompson, in 1991; fourth wife, Dorothy Cummings Thompson, in 2006; siblings, Donald Thompson, in 2012, and Marion P. Thomas, in 1995; parents, Essie and Delroy Thompson; and grandparents, Wilse and Bertha G. Jones.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Beverly and Steven Aldridge, of Sonora; Russell L. and Ernestine Thompson, of Riverside, Roxanne and Paul Davidson, of Sparks, Nev., and Christy and Robert Mehagan, of Westminster, Mass.; stepchildren, Joan Morris, of in Dayton, Nev., and Bruce McDermott, of Gallup, N.M.; and Cheryl Hutchison, of Bend, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and the 13 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held in September at Pinecrest Lake.

ANGEL — Judith Ann Angel, 75, of Tuolumne, died Monday at her home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home Tuolumne chapel, 18411 Bay Ave. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
SWENSON — Bradly Swenson, 55, of Twain Harte, died Tuesday at his home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
