Daniel ‘Danny’ LaPertche    

Jan. 1, 1963 — July 10, 2013                        

Jamestown resident Daniel LaPertche died Wednesday at his home. He was 50.

Mr. LaPertche was born in Stockton to Glenda and Eugene LaPertche.

He worked for a variety of businesses, including the Willow Steakhouse, Sonora Mining Co., Mother Lode Plastics, Procter and Gamble and, most recently, Condor Earth Technology.

He enjoyed cooking, the outdoors and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. 

He volunteered with the Interfaith Community Social Services in Sonora and the Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency Food Bank in Jamestown.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Olivia LaPertche; his sons, Cody and Cristian LaPertche, of Jamestown; his mother, Glenda LaPertche, of Sonora; stepfather, Gary Cato, of Sonora; and his sister, Gina LaPertche-Tuckey, of Kentfield.

Mr. LaPertche was preceded in death by his father, Eugene LaPertche, in September 1975.

A memorial service was planned for 10 a.m. today at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home in Sonora, followed by a burial at Dambacher Mountain Memorial Cemetery, and a gathering at the Willow Steakhouse. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Interfaith Community Social Services, P.O. Box 5070, Sonora, CA 95370; or the ATCAA Food Bank, 427 N. Highway 49, Suite 103, Sonora, CA 95370.

Dennis Allen McKinney

March 26, 1948 — July 1, 2013

Sonora resident Dennis Allen McKinney died July 1 after a motorcycle accident on Tuolumne Road in Sonora. He was 65.

Mr. McKinney was born and raised in San Jose. He worked as a bus driver with the Santa Clara Transit for several years and retired to the Mother Lode for health reasons 33 years ago.

Mr. McKinney started bowling in his youth. He was a member of bowling leagues in Sonora and Modesto and the Sons in Retirement Sonora branch 136. 

He earned his private pilot’s license in 1985 and knowledgeable about varying aircrafts.

He enjoyed military history, watching Western films and television shows, and animals. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and owned several throughout his life, his first when he was 16.  

Mr. McKinney was preceded in death by his father, Bill McKinney, in 1983; mother, Sylvia McKinney, in 2010; and brother, Gene Molarius, in 1969.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon McKinney, of Sonora; his daughter; Melissa McKinney-Lucas, of Sonora; granddaughter, Kendall Lucas, of Sonora; and brothers, Gary  , of Missouri, and Frank Molarius, of San Jose.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Sunday at the Sonora Hills Clubhouse, 19301 Greenley Road. 

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

THOMAS — Carren Thomas, 64, of Sonora, died Saturday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. 

THOMPSON — Robert Thompson, 87, of Soulsbyville, died Saturday at Oak Terrace Memory Care in Soulsbyville. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. 

WHARTON — Wesley Wharton, 77, of Sonora, died Saturday at his home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. 

WILLARD — Russell Robert Willard, 89, of San Andreas, died July 4, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at San Andreas Memorial Chapel, 254 W. St. Charles St., San Andreas. A reception will follow at Joe Cardenas’ house, maps will be provided. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. 

YEISLEY — Nathan Yeisley, 32, of Jamestown, died Sunday at his home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
