Catherine May Dahlin of Sonora died June 20 at an assisted living home in Sonora. She was 87.
She was born in Hartford, Conn., and lived in Sonora for two years. She previously lived in Saratoga for 35 years. She was a homemaker.
She loved her family and enjoyed baby-sitting for her grandchildren, her family said. Her hobbies were cooking, knitting and crocheting.
Jarl Bertil Duke' Dahlin of Saratoga died July 28, 2000, at a San Jose nursing home. He was 87.
He was born in Osby, Sweden. He came to the United States when he was 12 years old.
He owned his own business, J.B. Dahlin & Assoc., and was a manufacturer's representative in the semiconductor industry.
His family said he enjoyed golf, fishing and his BMW, and was very family-oriented.
A memorial service for the Dahlins is scheduled for 3 p.m. tomorrow at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. Family members will be going to Sue Reed's home for refreshments after the service.

Lawrence "Larry" Faler of Groveland died June 26 at his residence. He was 61.
He was born in San Jose and lived in Groveland for 12 years. He worked as a firefighter at the City of San Jose Fire Department for 27 years.
He was an avid golfer and a member of the Pine Mountain Lake Men's Golf Club, PML Resident's club, PML RV Club and Windjammer Club. He loved RV travel, golf and had many good friends, his family said. They said he also had a quick wit and good sense of humor.
Mr. Faler is survived by his wife, Linn Faler of Groveland; three daughters, Julie Sisco of Shasta Lake, Rebecca Faler of Big Bend and Kathryn Nickell of Redding; a son, Darrin Faler of Newport Beach; two stepdaughters, Robin Michelini of Sacramento and Denise Simmons of Felton; a stepson, Tim Swilling of Fairfield; a sister, Maris Azevedo of Santa Cruz; two nephews, Jeff Rogers of Watsonville and Greg Azevedo of Santa Cruz; and 21 grandchildren.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Pine Mountain Lake Country Club in Groveland.

Velta M. Boomer

Velta M. Boomer of Sonora died Saturday at her residence. She was 82.
She was a native of Vici, Okla., and lived in Sonora in three years.
She lived in Waterford from 1958-2000. She worked as a clerk at the Army-Navy Supply Depot in Richmond for 14 years.
She was a longtime member of Community Baptist Church of Waterford and a past member of Eastern Star-El Rio Chapter in Riverbank. She was a recent member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Sugar Pine.
Her family said she loved horses and gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Honberger of Sonora; a son, Edwin Boomer; and three grandchildren, Travis and Melody Moore and Brian Boomer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Boomer.
Services were held.

Windra Smail of Jamestown died Sunday from injuries suffered in an auto accident. She was 28.
She was born in Santa Rosa and had lived in Jamestown for 24 years. She worked for various employers.
She loved spending time with her son, painting, rock and crystal hunting, and unicorns and gargoyles, her family said.
She is survived by her son, Phillip Smail of Jamestown; her mother, Terri Denne of Milton, Fla.; her father, Tony Lee of Monterey; her stepfather, William Denne of Milton, Fla., a sister, Tonja Denne of Milton; grandmothers, Dorothy Lee and Wilene Watkins, both of Santa Rosa; and numerous cousins.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at Heuton Memorial Chapel.

Donna Elizabeth Eltringham

Longtime Douglas Flat resident Donna Elizabeth Eltringham died Tuesday at her residence. She was 74.
She was born in Angels Camp and was a resident of Douglas Flat for the past 55 years. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jenny Eltringham of Angels Camp and Bill and Debbie Eltringham of Murphys; her daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Randy Jasper of San Andreas and Judy and Dan Marzi of Douglas Flat; a brother, Ray Foppiano of Altaville; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for 1-6 p.m. today at Angels Memorial Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the chapel.
