Randall ‘Randy’ Keith Burdan

Sonora resident Randall “Rand”’ Keith Burdan died Dec. 25 at Avalon Care Center. He was 66.
Mr. Burdan was born in Sanger, Fresno County, the son of Norvil Burdan and Neva Sayers.
He graduated from Cubberley High School in Palo Alto in 1965.
He spent his early years living in the Bay Area, Mendocino County and Cascade, Idaho, before relocating to Tuolumne County in 1989.
Mr. Burdan was a fan sports, particularly of the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.
Mr. Burdan was preceded in death by his father, Norvil Burdan, in 1987; and his mother, Neva “Marie” Sayers, in 2004.
He is survived by his children, Sean Burdan, of Twain Harte, and Michelle Carney, of Tuolumne; his sister, Linda Henderson, of Jamestown; grandchildren, Alexander and Ryan Carney, both of Tuolumne, and Marcus Poston, of Nevada County.

Anna (Jacovich) Merrihew

Sonora resident Anna (Jacovich) Merrihew was died Jan. 4 at Avalon Care Center. She was 102.
Mrs. Merrihew was born in Stockton and lived there most of her life before moving to Sonora a year ago, to be closer to family.
She worked as a lederman in carton manufacturing for 40 years and was member of the paperworkers union.
Mrs. Merrihew was honored at a centenarian luncheon in October 2013.
Mrs. Merrihew was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Merrihew; former husband, Harold Wright; and grandchildren, David Wright and Dena Wright.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Martha Wright, of Copperopolis; sisters, Elsie Warburton, of Stockton, and Agnes Arbanasin, of Marin County; grandchildren, Brandon Wright, of Copperopolis, Dawn Wright, of Colorado, Daniel Wright, of Los Angeles; and four great-grandchildren.
No service is planned.
