Former Tuolumne County resident Evalyne Black died Dec. 17 in Reno, Nev. She was 63.
Ms. Black was born in the hospital on Columbia Way in Sonora, the daughter of Margery and Ralph Black.
She was formerly married to Steven Clark.
She worked for the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office for much of her career. She was a dispatcher and later served as secretary under two sheriffs.
She worked for the Tuolumne County Human Resources department for 18 years before retiring in 2004.
Ms. Black enjoyed her cats, flowers and knitting with friends.
She lived in the Sonora and Columbia areas most of her life before moving to Reno six months ago.
She is survived by her siblings, Ralph Black, Ray Lockrem, Debi Black and Margery Driskell.
No services are planned.
Robert ‘Bob’ Lee Pasby
Jan. 11, 1930 — Dec. 10, 2013
Sonora resident Robert “Bob” Lee Pasby died Dec. 10 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 83.
Mr. Pasby was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, the son of Lee and Beth Pasby.
He graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He ran the non-commissioned officers club at Camp Roberts near Paso Robles.
He married Joy Lorraine McKennett while stationed at Camp Roberts.
After his military service, he entered the financial world of banking and insurance. His career took him to Spokane, Great Falls, Mont., and San Jose.
Mr. Pasby and his wife raised four sons. He enjoyed sports and shared that with his sons by anchoring the local evening and nightly sports news shows at KFBB TV-3 in Great Falls.
He also coached his sons’ elementary school basketball team and initiated a project to build a ballpark for their Little League team in San Jose.
He and his wife retired to Palm Springs before moving to Sonora in 2001.
Mr. Pasby was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Lorraine Pasby; youngest son, Michael Patrick Pasby, in 2005; and brother, Larry Pasby, in August 2010.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Sandra Pasby, of Spokane, Edward and Libby Pasby, of San Jose, and Scott Pasby, of Sonora; grandchildren, Jeremy P. Pasby, of Las Vegas, Nev., Lisa and Austin Price, of Yucca Valley, and Kayla, Cody and Hannah Pasby, all of San Jose; sister and brother-in-law, Beulah and Lee McMacken, of Spokane; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Donations in his memory can be made to St. Patrick’s Parish, 116 Bradford Ave., Sonora CA 95370.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 15 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 127 W. Jackson St., Sonora.
