Obituaries for February 6, 2003

John Carl Bailey

Oct. 30, 1976 — Feb. 1, 2003

John Carl Bailey, 26, of Sonora died Saturday in a car crash near Oakdale.

Mr. Bailey was born in Hamilton, Mont., and moved to California in 1978.

A graduate of Palo Alto High School, he was a student at ITT Technical Institute.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, E Clampus Vitus and Sonora Moose Lodge 2183.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his parents, Larry A. Bailey of Texas City, Texas, and Mary Jane Newington of Sonora; his grandmother, Henrietta N. Bailey of Texas City; and his girlfriend, Kimberlee Arnold of Sonora.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Sonora Moose Lodge, 20921 Longeway Road, Sonora. Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, Modesto, is handling arrangements.

Donations may be made to Sonora Moose Lodge 2183, 20921 Longeway Road, Sonora 95370.

CARLETON — Melvin Carleton, 82, of Jamestown, died early today at a Sonora hospital. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
