Edith ‘Eyde' Dingman

Dec. 30, 1935 — Feb. 2, 2004

Edith "Eyde" Dingman of Sonora died Monday at her home. She was 68.

She was born in Perth, Kan., and had lived in Sonora for 19 years. She worked as a real-estate broker in Fairfield for 25 years.

She served as past president of the Sierra Audubon Society and was a member of the Columbia Presbyterian Church of the 49ers.

Her family said she enjoyed ceramics and crafts, rescuing cats and traveling the world.

She is survived by her brother, Merle Starr of Sonora; and a sister, Ruby Pipper of El Dorado, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey, in 2001.

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1604 Ford Ave., Suite 8, Modesto, CA 95350 for Tuolumne County or Alzheimer's Care, P.O. Box 3105, Sonora, CA 95370.

Services were to be held today.

Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Ralph Maxey

Oct. 6, 1919 — Feb. 2, 2004

Ralph Maxey of Sonora died Monday at a Sonora hospital. He was 84.

He was born in Shirley, Ark., and had lived in Sonora for 12 years. He worked as a toll tractor driver for Ford Motor Company in San Jose for 30 years.

He was a member of the Local Autoworkers No. 76 and Church of the Brethren in Waterford. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

His family said he enjoyed fishing.

Mr. Maxey is survived by his wife, Vina Maxey of Sonora; two sons, Arthur Maxey of Twain Harte and Daniel Maxey of Ventura; a daughter, Nadine Bennett of Santa Cruz; a brother, J.D. Maxey of Madera; three sisters, Arthula Douglas of Gridley and Gertrude Madewell and Lois Wright, both of Madera; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at Heuton Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the chapel. Burial will be at Mountain Shadow Cemetery.

Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.


HEMSTALK — Harry Charles Hemstalk, 80, of Sonora died yesterday at a Soulsbyville care home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

MENDOZA — Michael Julio Mendoza, 57, of Mi-Wuk Village died this morning at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

ORTNER — Daniel Frederick Ortner, 57, of Burson died Sunday at his home. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow at San Andreas Memorial Chapel.

PORTER — Gloria Porter, 70, of Twain Harte died this morning at her home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
