Longtime Tuolumne County resident Karen Ann Carter died Tuesday at a Sonora hospital of natural causes. She was 53.
She was born in South San Francisco. She grew up in the Bay Area and had lived in Tuolumne County for 20 years, most recently in Sonora. She worked in production control at Microtronics in Sonora and was dedicated, her family said.
She loved her grandchildren, her rose garden, summers at Pinecrest and collecting Ty Beanie Babies, her family added, and she enjoyed gambling at casinos and playing on the computer.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Phil Carter of Sonora; a daughter and son-in-law, Shawna and George Danicourt of Sonora; grandchildren Brendan and Colton Danicourt of Sonora; a sister and brother-in-law, Viki Moore and Ken Stuefloten of Pollock Pines, El Dorado County; brothers Larry Moore of Redwood City and Neil Moore of California; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Carter of Twain Harte; a niece, Jeni Walker and her husband, Daniel, of Sonora; a nephew, Tim McCabe, and his fiance, Kristen Johanson, of Azusa, Los Angeles County; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Elaine Moore; and a sister, Robyn McCabe.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home.

Lena Mildred Murray

Lena Mildred Murray of Mi-Wuk Village died Sunday at her home. She was 99.
She was born in Matkins, Mo., and had lived in Mi-Wuk Village since January. In 1913, her family homesteaded to Saskatchewan to farm wheat and other grains. She became a teacher and later, she moved to San Diego where her sister Evalee lived. She met Walter Murray while standing in line at Sears. They were married in October 1943 in Yuma, Ariz.
She lived most of her life in Redwood City, Fremont and Napa and was active in the Order of the Eastern Star in these cities. She was mother adviser of Association No. 16 in Redwood City from 1963-64. She was worthy matron of Orient Chapter No. 177 in Fremont in 1976.
She was a Christian and always active in churches where she lived, including the First Congregational Church in Redwood City, Centerville Presbyterian in Fremont and most recently at Grace Baptist Church of Napa.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Doug Vierth of Twain Harte; a sister, Jeanne Helle of Canada; a brother, M.D. Watson of San Diego; a granddaughter, Lisa Vierth of Mi-Wuk Village; a grandson, Doug Vierth of Napa; and a great-grandson, Sean Vierth of Mi-Wuk Village.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Murray; and sisters, Evalee, Georgia and Glenna.
A private memorial service will be held for the family.

Michael J. Tursick

Former Altaville resident Michael J. Tursick died Sunday at a Stockton hospital. He was 84.
He was born in Ithaca, N.Y. He lived most recently in Stockton and had previously lived in Altaville for 18 years. He worked in a wrecking yard.
Mr. Tursick is survived by his sons, Robert and Rodney Tursick, both of Stockton; daughters Sharon Tursick, Terry Seranno and Judy Hartley, all of Stockton; stepchildren Richard, Linda and Joyce DePutron, all of Stockton; sisters Helen Clark of Brownwood, Texas, Dorothy Oltz of Ithaca, and Isabel Curtis of Pine Plains, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
