Lawrence Grant ‘Larry' Johnson

April 27, 1951 — Feb. 12, 2003

Lawrence Grant "Larry" Johnson, 51, of Avery died Wednesday at his home.

Mr. Johnson was born in Los Angeles and had lived in Avery for the past 20 years.

He was owner and operator of Johnson's Towing and Automotive in Avery.

Mr. Johnson is survived by two brothers, William R. Johnson of Baja and Robert M. Johnson of Simi Valley, Ventura County, and one sister, Mary Alice Lane of Arizona.

A private service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be private. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Nina May

(Thoelecke) Azevedo

April 12, 1917 — Feb. 14, 2003

Nina May (Thoelecke) Azevedo, 85, a longtime resident of Tuttletown, died Friday at a Modesto hospital.

Mrs. Azevedo was born in Pocatello, Idaho. When she was 6, her father lost his job and hopped a west-bound train, ending up in Marin County. He found work and sent for his family. They settled in Sausalito and later Corte Madera, Marin County.

Mrs. Azevedo attended parochial school and graduated from Mount Tampalpais High School in Sausalito in 1935.

She married Joseph Azevedo, the cousin of a childhood friend, on
