Longtime Jamestown resident Mary E. (Danehy) Barr died Feb. 13 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 91.
Mrs. Barr was born in Mason City, Iowa, and was a nursing student in Sioux City and Mason City.
She was a nurse with the U.S. Army in World War II and was stationed in New Guinea. Mrs. Barr was a nursing instructor and founding member of California Nurses Association in Northern California.
She retired to Sonora with her husband, Charles “Chuck” Barr, in 1980. They lived in the Milla Villa Estates for 20 years.
She enjoyed playing golf at Phoenix Lake Golf Course, participating in Elks and Lions Club activities and she playing bridge.
She was a longtime parishioner and supporter of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Mrs. Barr was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles Barr, in 2008.
She is survived by her children Barbara Carroll, of Menlo Park, Michael Barr, of Livermore, Debra Howell, of San Jose, and Melody Barr-Morris, of Mountain View; sisters Marie Stewart, Margaret Argos and Jeanne Argos, of Mason City; grandchildren Jennifer, Aaron, Kathryn, Noah, Nicole, Damon, Courtney, Gillian, Charles and Julie; and seven great-grandchildren.
A donation in her name may be made to Women in Military Service for America Memorial, Dept. 560, Washington, DC 20042-0560.
A memorial service will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Mill Villa Estates Clubhouse.

Former Cedar Ridge resident Arthur Georgakis died Feb. 4 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 54.
Mr. Georgakis was born in San Francisco and lived in Cedar Ridge as a child. He worked as a chemical manufacturing supervisor for 10 years. He lived in Livermore for the last 10 years.
Mr. Georgakis is survived by his mother, Michelle Worlein, of Livermore; his daughter, Hayde Georgakis, of San Diego; his brother, Michael Georgakis, of Livermore; sisters Ginger Vanderberg, of Arizona, Janette Mealey, of Nevada, and Lynn Bushey, of Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services have been held.

Paul O. Paulson
Nov. 13, 1915 — Feb. 7, 2012
Sonora resident Paul O. Paulson died Feb. 7 at a San Jose hospital. He was 96.
Mr. Paulson was born in Williston, N.D. He joined the Southern Pacific Railroad at 21 and retired in 1976 after 40 years of service.
Mr. Paulson was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Paulson; and sons Larry and Roger Paulson.
He is survived by sons Richard Paulson, of San Jose and Ken and his wife, Michele Paulson, of Santa Clara; grandchildren Eric, Jocelyn, Armando, Sara and her husband Jeremy, Olivia and Wesley; and two great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held at noon Sunday with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Roses at Oak Hill Funeral Home, 300 Curtner Ave., San Jose.

A’MADEO — Clyta A’Madeo, 71, of Sonora, died Tuesday at her home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
ARTZER — Andrew Artzer, 87, of Tuolumne, died Monday at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 25 at Tuolumne Chapel of Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.
NELSON — Donald Nelson, 48, of Mi-Wuk Village, of died Thursday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
