Otto Albert Gisler

Former Tuolumne County resident Otto Albert Gisler died Jan. 26 at his home in Yerington, Nev. He was 91.
Mr. Gisler was born in Esparto, Yolo County, to Carl Gisler and Josephine Blochliger Gisler.
He worked for more than 20 years for the City and County of San Francisco Water and Power on the Hetch Hetchy Water Project in Tuolumne County. He was also a cattle rancher and loved working the land.
He lived in Groveland for many years and moved to Yerington 12 years ago and had an alfalfa ranch.
Mr. Gisler was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marge Steinweden, Tillie Arsenio and Josephine Gritton; his brother, Leo Gisler; sons, Ronald and Donald Gisler; and his companion of more than 28 years, Davette Crane.
Mr. Gisler is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Rozann Gisler, of Oakdale; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Hartley and Kent Wilson, of Mountain Ranch, Joan Gisler and Buck Lemmon, of Big Oak Flat, and Janet and Steven Crook, of Groveland; his brother, Carl Gisler, of Modesto; his sister, Ann Smith, of Sunnyvale; grandchildren, Shaun and Velina Crook, Russell and Kay Crook, John and Donna Gisler and Justin and Sandi Gisler; and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held in at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Manzanita building at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora.

Byron J. Bellah
June 21,1922 — Jan. 13, 2012
Jamestown resident Byron J. Bellah died Jan. 13 at a Modesto hospital. He was 89.
Mr. Bellah was born in Porterville to John Cyrus Bellah and Maria Josephine Castro.
He was a WWII veteran and worked as a machinist for Hercules Powder Company from 1942 until 1976. Mr. Bellah settled in the Richmond area where he enjoyed gardening and tinkering in his workshop.
Mr. Bellah moved to Jamestown following the death of his wife, Arlette. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed motorcycling, was a member of the Rod and Gun Club and the American Kennel Club and took great satisfaction breeding Brittany spaniel dogs.
Mr. Bellah is survived by his sister, Edna Meyers, of Palo Alto; his son, Robert Bellah, of Shady Cove, Ore.; his daughter, Donna Benson, of Twain Harte; grandchildren Pamela Bellah, Tina Brayboy, Bradley Bellah and Christine Simelius; and seven great-grandchildren.
No services will be held.

San Andreas resident Michael Ann Pellaton died on Jan. 13, at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was 68.
Ms. Pellaton was born in Washington and loved sewing, quilting, cooking and reading. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and visiting in Mt. Shasta.
Ms. Pellaton volunteered with many organizations including Hospice, was a grief counselor at St. Rose Hospital in Hayward, and the Calaveras Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ray McCarroll.
Ms. Pellaton is survived by her mother, Ann McCarroll, of San Andreas; her son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Cindy Gardina, of San An-dreas; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Ann Gardina Deckman and Louie Deckman, of San Andreas; grandchildren Michael Page, Derek Gardina, Craig Michael Gardina, Annalee Gardina and Melisa Deckman; and one great-grandson.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Pickle Patch in San Andreas.

Grace E. Stewart
Aug. 3, 1923 — Feb. 8, 2012
Twain Harte homeowner Grace E. Stewart died Feb. 8 in a San Francisco hospital. She was 88.
Mrs. Stewart was born in Chicago to Carl and Margaret Wennerstrom. She lived most of her life in San Jose. She and her husband of 54 years, Tom Stewart, enjoyed traveling to Europe and New Zealand and owned a vacation home in Twain Harte.
Mrs. Stewart devoted many hours to her Luther church and volunteer pursuits. She also enjoyed sharing Swedish and Danish family recipes with her grandchildren. She also organized a knitting group at her retirement home in Santa Rosa.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by her children and their spouses Susan and James Jacobus, Thomas Jr. and Tanya Stewart, and Robert and Rebecca Stewart; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, 5100 Camden Ave., San Jose.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name may be made to Bethel Church Library Fund, 10181 Finch Ave., Cupertino, CA 95014.
