Mary Ann De Valle

March 25, 1933 — Dec. 12, 2002

Mary Ann De Valle, 69, of Sonora died Thursday at a Sonora hospital, after a battle with cancer.

Mrs. De Valle was born in San Jose and grew up in Los Gatos.

She married Roger M. De Valle, who was in the Army, on June 17, 1951, and the couple lived in various places around the world for the following 21 years, before moving to San Jose, where they lived for another 21 years. She had lived in Sonora for the past 12 years.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Sonora, Young Ladies Institute, Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3154 and a member of the Tuolumne County Historical Society.

Her family said she enjoyed taking pictures, crocheting, being a mother and her family.

Mrs. De Valle is survived by five children, Rita Ann Chacon of Brawley, Imperial County, Susan Patricia Flores of San Jose, Jeanette Marie Blomquist of Trinidad, Colo., Roger Lee De Valle of Gardnerville, Nev., and Jace Martin De Valle of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; 17 grandchildren, John Chacon, David Chacon, Peter Chacon, Michelle Hickman, Jesse Flores, Vincent Flores, Annette Borja, Anthony Borja, Andrew De Valle, Alexander Borja, Adina De Valle, Rebecca De Valle, Christie De Valle, Joshua De Valle, Jordan De Valle, Levi De Valle and Seth De Valle; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Clark of Oregon; and a brother, Johnny Sancetta of Georgia.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today with a rosary to begin 6 p.m., both at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sonora, at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Sonora.

Mary Kathleen Hiatt

Oct. 7, 1946 — Dec. 10, 2002

Mary Kathleen Hiatt, 56, of Valley Springs died Tuesday at her home after a long illness.

Mrs. Hiatt was born in California and had lived in Valley Springs for the past six years.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Hiatt is survived by her husband, Joseph Hiatt of Valley Springs; two daughters, Tammy Travers of Valley Springs and Lisa Estrada of Tracy; three sisters, Robin Travers of Mira Loma, Riverside County, Renee Kilbourne of Oregon, and Cynthia Sallaberra of Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino County; and six grandchildren.

No service will be held. Inurnment will be private. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Waldo Bernard ‘Walt' Wilson

Dec. 22, 1914 — Dec. 11, 2002

Waldo Bernard "Walt" Wilson, 87, of Sonora died Wednesday at his home.

Mr. Wilson was born in Fresno and had lived in Sonora for the past 26 years.

He was a general contractor, owned Wilco Construction in San Francisco and built extensively in the western states including Hawaii. He completed a variety of projects for the federal government, and his family said he was often referred to as "Mr. Post Office."

He was also a member of the Association of General Contractors.

In Tuolumne County he built World Savings Bank on Washington Street, the Tuolumne Adult Day Care Center, the Stanislaus National Forest's Mi-Wok Ranger Station, Standard ball park and Soulsbyville School's multipurpose gymnasium.

He and his wife, Jean, also developed Quail Ridge Ranch in Sonora in the 1970s.

Mr. Wilson and his wife were married in March 1939 at the First Methodist Church in Oakland. In 1999 they renewed their wedding vows at St. James Episcopal Church, Sonora. Their daughter, son, six grandsons and friends attended.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Wilson of Sonora; a daughter, Kelly Gaglione of San Diego; a son, John Wilson of Carmel; and six grandchildren, Joseph, Andrew and Anthony Gaglione, all of San Diego, Sean Wilson of Yorba Linda, Scott Wilson of Walnut Creek and Christopher Wilson of Fort Campbell, Ky.; and a godson, Jeff Allen of Alameda.

A private service was held. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home handled arrangements.

SPILLER — Leroy Spiller, 87, of Angels Camp died Saturday at a Sonora hospital. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

HAVENS — Patsy Havens, 62, of Jamestown died Sunday a Sonora hospital. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

FITZPATRICK — Joseph Edward Fitzpatrick, 85, of Sonora died Friday at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

CURRY — Robert M. Curry, 66, of Groveland died Friday at his home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

MOORE — William B. Moore, 78, of Sonora died Sunday at a Modesto hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

WILEY — Lorena Wiley, 88, of Twain Harte died Sunday at Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

HUOT — Rosa Lee Huot, 71, a former resident of Jamestown, died Nov. 16 at her home in Ingleside, Texas. Charles Marshall Funeral Home in Texas handled arrangements.

PITSTICK — John Norman Pitstick, 52, of Groveland died Wednesday at a Modesto hospital. Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel in Modesto is handling arrangements.
