Judith (Tomlin) Whiteside

May 30, 1946 — Nov. 25, 2003

Judith (Tomlin) Whiteside of Tuttletown died Tuesday at her home after a long illness. She was 57.

She was born in Modesto and lived in Tuttletown. She lived in the Sonora area for 25 years. She worked as a bookkeeper for California Enterprises for five years.

Her family said she enjoyed nature, animals, reading and helping others.

She is survived by her husband, James Whiteside of Sonora; her mother, Thelma Tomlin of Sonora; daughters, Tara Tomlin of Sonora and Regina Siskoff of Modesto; brothers, Kenneth Tomlin of Tuttletown and Robert and Richard Tomlin, both of Sonora; sisters, Donna and Tanya Tomlin, both of Sonora; granddaughters, Kady and Melissa Tomlin, both of Sonora, and Heather Mayfield of Modesto; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy Tomlin, in 1962.

A graveside service was to be held today at Mountain Shadow Cemetery.

Donations can be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice of the Sierra, P.O. Box 4805, Sonora, CA 95370.

Lloyd Francis Jordan

Aug. 12, 1921 — Nov. 24, 2003

Longtime Angels Camp resident Lloyd Francis Jordan died Nov. 24 at a San Andreas hospital. He was 82.

He was born in Oakland and lived in Angels Camp for 79 years. He owned and operated General Engineering and Construction in Angels Camp for 63 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Theater.

Mr. Jordan is survived by his longtime companion, Joy Biehl of Angels Camp; sons, Larry Jordan of Foresthill, Greg Stilphen of Pine Grove, Art Jordan of Ripon and Guy and Don Jordan, both of Altaville; daughters, Sue Fischer of Seattle, Melissa Jordan of Esparto and Marianne Buck of Inyokern; a brother, Glen Jordan of White Pines; a sister, Evelyn Lompa of Roseville; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any favorite local charity.

Larry Joseph Kowalski

July 7, 1946 — Nov. 25, 2003

Larry Joseph Kowalski of Arnold died Tuesday at a San Andreas Hospital after a long illness. He was 57.

He was born in Detroit and lived in Arnold for 10 years. He previously had lived in Stockton. He worked as a computer engineer and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion in Sonora.

Mr. Kowalski is survived by his wife, Janet Kowalski of Arnold; a daughter, Kasia Kowalski of Arnold; sons, Robert VanZant of Arnold and Jeff VanZant of San Francisco; brothers, David Kowalski of Dixon and Michael Kowalski of Glendora; a sister, Debra Hunt of Alta Loma; his parents, Joseph and Dolores Kowalski of West Covina; and four grandchildren.

Services were held.

Angels Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.

Millie A. Wood

Nov. 5, 1944 — Nov. 25, 2003

Former longtime Tuolumne County resident Millie A. Wood died unexpectedly Tuesday at a San Diego care home. She was 59.

She was born in San Francisco and lived in El Cajon. She previously had lived in Sugar Pine and the Tuolumne County area for nearly 20 years. She worked as an antiques dealer and bookkeeper.

She is survived by her sons, Harold Francis Tyler of Layton, Utah, and Timothy Albert Wood of Humboldt County; and four grandchildren.

Private services will be held.

Donations can be made to St. Vincent De Paul, 3350 E St., San Diego, CA 92102.

Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary in San Diego is handling arrangements.

HELMBOLD — Genevieve Helmbold, 91, of Sugar Pine died this morning at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

KRESS — Mary Annabelle Kress, 82, of Jamestown died Thursday at a Sonora hospital. A vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. tomorrow at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
