Susan ‘Susie’
Lynn Freeman
April 5, 1950 — Dec. 4, 2011

    Sonora resident Susan “Susie” Lynn Freeman died Sunday at her home. She was 61.
    Born in Oakland to Ann Wilhite and Robert Freeman, she graduated from beauty school in Hayward in 1969, and studied in the Columbia College culinary program.
    She enjoyed art, animals and helping others.
    She is survived by her longtime companion, Percy Jones, of Sonora; mother, Ann Wilhite, of Sonora; and son, Glenn E. Boyles, of Sonora.
    In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Martin Freeman.
    A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Sonora Hills Clubhouse, 19601 Greenley Road, Sonora.
    Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Deborah Jo Jewell
Feb. 12, 1957 — Nov. 30, 2011

    Valley Springs resident Deborah Jo Jewell died Nov. 30 at her home. She was 53.
    Born in Eaton Rapids, Mich., to Mickey Baccus and Gary Jewell, she moved to San Jose in 1962 and settled in Valley Springs in 1985.
    She worked as a waitress in Linden and for Zippy Mart in Valley Springs for a number of years before becoming an electrical technician for ENCO High Voltage in Martell, where she worked for about six years.
    She enjoyed visiting with people who were sick and lonely, and caring for animals.
    She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Mickey and Gene Baccus, of Valley Springs; father, Gary Jewell, of Valley Springs; children, Marcia Simon, of Valley Springs, and Rodney Foster, of Stockton; and sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Ray Sirocco, of Florida.
    A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Valley Christian Center, 2475 Silver Rapids Road, Valley Springs.
    San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Margaret Hart
July 24, 1921 — Dec. 4, 2011

    Jamestown resident Margaret Hart died Sunday at her home. She was 90.
    Born in Detroit, Mich., to Alexander and Claudina Watt, she was a homemaker for 70 years. Her husband was an engineer who later became a pastor after his retirement.
    She was a member of the Heritage Christian Church in Sonora, and Huron Hills Church in Ann Arbor, Mich.
    She enjoyed singing hymns, studying the Bible, traveling, supporting missionaries around the world, and working with the Pioneer Girls Club.
    Mrs. Hart is survived by her children and their spouses, Martha and Steve Golay, of Jamestown, Richard and Robin Hart, of Amman, Jordan, Barbara and Cory Hart, of Maine, and Donald and Carol Hart, of Michigan; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Dick Hart; and siblings, Ronald Watt, and Gladys Nyquist.
    A service will be held in Dearborn, Mich., at a later date.
    She will be buried in the Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia, Mich.
    Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Erminia L.
‘Minnie’ Romero
Nov. 11, 1926 — Dec. 5, 2011

    Valley Springs resident Erminia L. “Minnie” Romero died Monday at her home. She was 85.
    Born in Azusa to Luz and Geronimo Lopez, she was a homemaker for 50 years, and lived in Valley Springs for 23 years.
    She is survived by her children, John Romero, and Ron and Maryann Johnson, all of Valley Springs; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosemarie Romero.
    A memorial service will be held at a later date.
    San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
