Raymond Delano Smith

Soulsbyville resident Raymond Delano Smith died Nov. 23 at his home. He was 75.
Mr. Smith was born in Modesto, the son of Christopher and Tinnie Smith.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 until retiring in 1976. He served two tours in Vietnam.
After his military service, he opened a furniture upholstery business in Ceres. He opened Smith Boat Tops in Modesto in 1984 and retired in 1994 for health-related reasons.
He married Christine L. Shaw in Reno, Nev., in 1990 and they moved to Soulsbyville in 1996.
Mr. Smith was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
He enjoyed camping and collecting antiques. He also enjoyed traveling. He and his wife traveled across the U.S. in an RV in 1995. In 1996, they visited Hawaii and Europe.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Christine Butterfield.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Christine L. Smith, of Soulsbyville; children, Michael Smith, of Sonora, Jeff Smith, of Denair, Cheryl Laflamme, of Chico, and Timothy Smith, of Paso Robles; his ex-wife, Loretta A. Wright, to whom he was married for 32 years; grandchildren, Scott Smith, Sean Smith, Kristina Smith, David Smith, Gwendolyn McPheely, Jillian Smith, Maurice Laflamme III, and Adam Machado; siblings, Ann Paris, of Flower Mound, Texas, Eleanor Cavitt, of Rialto, Larry Smith, of Modesto, Don Smith, of Modesto; half-brother, Eugene Smith, of Oregon; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose St., Sonora.
Inurnment will be at Dambacher Mountain Memorial.

HENLEY — Donna Henley, 86, of Sonora, died Thursday at Sonora Hills Manor. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
SLATTON — Lucille Slatton, 91, of Jamestown, died Nov. 24 at her home. A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at the Creekside Building, Mother Lode Fairgrounds. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
SUNDE — Alice Sunde, 89, of Sonora, died Wednesday at Avalon Care Center. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
