Alice T. Ball of Sonora died Sunday at an Oakdale care home. She was 96.
She was born in Oakland and married Charles S. Ball of Sonora in 1932. In 1946, she and her husband started The Mother Lode Distributing Company. She spent most of her life in Jamestown and Sonora. She was a member of Native Daughters of the Golden West in Jamestown.
She is survived by her nephew, Tom Tate of Granada Hills; and her niece, Nancy Ferrand of Laguna Beach.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1982.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow at Mountain Shadow Cemetery.

Florence C. Brock

Former Sonora resident Florence C. Brock died Aug. 2 at a Florida hospital after a short illness. She was 85.
She was born in Millinocket, Maine, the daughter of Reginald and Jessie (Peggy) Cress. She was raised in Millinocket and later moved to Arlington, Mass., where she graduated from Arlington High School.
After spending most of her life as a wife, homemaker and mother, she and her husband, Donald S. (Donn) Brock, moved to Sonora in October 1973 and founded Debco Automotive Supply in East Sonora. During the next 17 years, she was active in the East Sonora Association, Sonora Lions Club and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She and her husband of 60 years retired to Alton, N.H., in 1990.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Donald S. Brock Jr. of Riverside; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane E. (Debbie) and Jerry Simmons of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two grandsons, Matthew and Jeremy Simmons, both of Daytona Beach; a sister, V. Geraldine Chambers of Newton, Mass.; a niece, Carol Murtagh of Alton, N.H.; and several other nephews and nieces.
Her ashes will be returned to Alton. A private celebration of her life will be held in the fall.
New Life Crematorium in Ormond Beach, Fla., is handling arrangements.
Fleurette D. Edwards

Longtime Arnold resident Fleurette D. Edwards died Sunday at a Stockton medical center. She was 72.
She was born in Hollywood and lived in Arnold for 22 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Chalcedon Chapel in Vallecito.
She is survived by her son, Brian Edwards of La Caada; two daughters, Bobette McFarland of Arnold and Nanette Brown of Ripon; a brother, Richard Kahn of Tucson, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edwards, in 1995.
Services were held.
Angels Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.
