Dolores Emily Proud
Sept. 6, 1923 — July 25, 2014
Born Sept. 6, 1923, in Galveston, Texas, to Haston and Xenia Eaves, she was the youngest of six children. Dolores departed this earth on the morning of July 25, 2014, at the age of 90, to her final peaceful life with the Lord, with her loving daughter, Dolores and son-in-law, Stan at her side.
Dolores spent her early life in Texas, then married and moved to the West Coast, spending time in San Diego, Salt Lake City, Utah, Great Falls, Mont., Portland, Ore. and finally the San Francisco Bay Area. She spent 40 years in the Bay Area and moved to Sonora, Calif., in 2000 to be close by her daughter.
Dolores was an avid gardener, enjoyed working in her beautiful rose and orchid gardens and was a great cook. She loved the outdoors and often accompanied her children on camping, fishing, clamming and crabbing excursions. She was a devoted mother to her children and family life exhibited by her hands-on activities early on in Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls to high school sports and cheerleading to later life interests in travelling, cruising, wine tasting and spending time with family at the lake house on New Melones watching the boats, airplanes and wildlife. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed season tickets to the Oakland Athletics during their glory World Series years.
Dolores was dearly loved by everyone who came into contact with her. Her infectious smile took you into her warm and caring spirit. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Dolores is survived by her loving children: son Charles King and wife Nancy, son Richard Proud and wife Diana, daughter Dolores Blanchard and husband Stan, son Raymond Proud and wife Jacque; and two sisters, Mildred Carter and Lucille Amburn.
As a loving and caring grandmother she leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
On behalf of Dolores, the Proud family would like to extend appreciation to all of the employees at Avalon Care Center in Sonora for their amazing care, compassion and love for our mother. We sincerely thank you.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
