Betty Jean Dambacher
Feb. 2, 1929 — Aug. 12, 2011

    Longtime Sonora resident Betty Jean Dambacher died Sunday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 82.
    Born in Maud, Okla., to Barney and Pauline Leard, she grew up in Maud and later moved to the Los Gatos area with her family.
    She moved to Sonora in 1950 when she married Don Dambacher.
    She managed the Sonora Credit Bureau from 1951 to 1953 and was a secretary for Judge Ted Vilas from 1953 to 1956, before she became a homemaker.
    She was a member of the Emblem and Soroptimist clubs.
    She enjoyed traveling and visiting her family cabin in the Dardenelles.
    She was a San Francisco 49ers fan and season ticket holder who enjoyed traveling across the country to see them play.
    Mrs. Dambacher is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Laurel Dambacher, of Sonora; grandchildren, Evan, Nolan, Leah and Mason Dambacher, all of Sonora, and Parker and Ryan Penner, both of South Lake Tahoe; brother, Barney Leard, of Oakdale; in-laws, Milton “Punny” and Bette Dambacher, of Sonora, and Mae Dambacher, of Snelling; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Don Dambacher; daughter, Lori Dambacher; and in-laws, Margaret Leard and Jack Dambacher.
    A service is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Sonora Elks Lodge.

Irene M.
Kelly
April 1, 1924 — Aug. 12, 2011

    Columbia resident Irene M. Kelly died Friday at her home. She was 87.
    Born in Royal Oak, Mich., to Ralph and Mae Platts, she worked as a marriage and family counselor both in Sonora and Columbia for many years.
    She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of the 49ers in Columbia and served on its session’s committee, and the American Association of University Women.
    She enjoyed quilting.
    Mrs. Kelly is survived by her children, Kevin and wife Barbara Kelly, of Lancaster, and Valerie Kelly, of Long Beach.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Kelly.
    No service is scheduled at her request.

Marlo Sue
Chadwick
Sept. 29, 1946 — Aug. 7, 2011

    Jamestown resident Marlo Sue Chadwick died Aug. 7 in Sonora. She was 64.
    Born in Ludington, Mich., to Robert and Gladys Fulks, in her youth she and her sisters cared for and rode Shetland ponies.
    She worked as a grocery clerk in Southern California for about 15 years. She lived in Jamestown for seven years.
    She was a member of the Harvest Fellowship Church.
    She enjoyed reading and frequently visited the library and book mobile, going to the senior center, participating in the activities and social events at her apartment complex, walking, hiking and playing dominoes.
    She also enjoyed animals, especially cats, dogs and birds, and had taken trips to China and Alaska.
    She is survived by her sisters, Judith Dusseau and Robin and Liz Chadwick, all of Sonora, Pat Van Sickle, of Onsted, Mich., and Diane Smith, of Brooklyn, Mich.
    A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Harvest Fellowship Church, 18985 Industry Way, East Sonora.
    Donations can be made to the Tuolumne County Library, 480 Greenley Road, Sonora, CA 95370.

Charlotte Eileen Jamieson
Nov. 8, 1947 — Aug. 15, 2011

    Avery resident Charlotte Eileen Jamieson died Monday at her home. She was 63.
    Born in Joliet, Ill., she lived in Avery for 28 years and worked as a radiological technologist for the Arnold Family Medical Center.
    She enjoyed hiking and gardening.
    Mrs. Jamieson is survived by her husband, James Jamieson, of Avery; children and their spouses, Jennifer and Forrest Castile, of Eugene, Ore., Katherine and Matthew Mattison, of Mira Loma, and Sean Jamieson, of Sacramento; grandson, Benjamin Castile, of Eugene, Ore; mother, Elizabeth Yankovich, of Oregon; and siblings, Elaine Graham, Lisa Klotter and Louis Yankovich Jr., all of Oregon, and Jeanette Hunt, of Illinois.
    A celebration of life is scheduled for a later date.

Morton
June 3, 1931 — Aug. 14, 2011

    Sonora native and Vallecito resident Ida Louise Morton died Sunday at her home. She was 80.
    Born in Sonora to Earl Shields and Vivian Schoettgen, she worked as a saleswoman for several retail stores in the Sonora area for 20 years.
    She was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Golden Era Parlor 99, in Sonora.
    She is survived by her mother, Vivian Schoettgen, of Sonora; children and their spouses, Gary and Ilene Morton, of Vallecito, and Eric and Nancy Morton, of Sonora; and grandchildren, Jennifer Morton, of Santa Rosa, Joshua Morton, of Ojai, and Steven and wife Stephanie Ward, of Merced.
    A private family service is scheduled for a later date.
    Donations can be made to the Hospice of Amador and Calaveras Counties, P.O. Box 595, Jackson, CA 95642.
