Louis Elsworth ‘Lou’ Fricke Sr.
March 11, 1933 — April 13, 2013
Former Pine Mountain Lake resident Louis Elsworth ‘Lou’ Fricke Sr. died April 13 in a nursing home in Sunland in Los Angeles County. He was 80.
Mr. Fricke was born in Rogers, Minn., to Louis and Florence (Fehn) Fricke.
He served in the U.S. Navy four years.
He married Anna Artone in 1956 in Minnesota. Mr. Fricke moved with his family to Southern California to work at Honeywell/Lockheed in 1963.
He owned and operated Air Champion, Inc., a heating and air conditioning company in the Santa Clarita valley for more than 44 years. Mr. Fricke spent every weekend at his home in Pine Mountain Lake for the past 25 years.
He volunteered for CONCERN, Boy Scouts of America and Eucharistic Ministry. He also worked with religious services and activities and with orphanages in Mexico.
Mr. Fricke enjoyed flying his airplanes, experiencing nature at his home in Pine Mountain Lake, riding his bicycle, and chocolate.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Eileen Ericson, Alroy Fricke, Kathleen Vorderer and Justin Fricke.
Mr. Fricke is survived by his children, Susan Artone-Fricke, of Denver, Colo., Jim Fricke, of Saugus, Dan Fricke, of Castaic, Dennis Fricke, of Newhall, Kathleen Walk, of Castaic, Louie Fricke Jr., of Valencia, and Judy Hechavarria, of Valencia; siblings, Harlen Fricke and Pauline Savitsky, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and an ex-wife, Anna Fricke, of Valencia.
A Rosary will be held at 11 a.m., with a Mass following at 11:30 a.m., on May 17 at Saint Kateri Catholic Church, 22508 Copper Hill Drive, Saugus. A celebration of life will follow at Westridge Community Recreation Center, 27200 Sycamore Meadow Drive, Stevenson Ranch.

Michael Lee Larson
Oct. 3, 1943 — April 21, 2013
Sonora resident Michael Larson died April 21 at his home. He was 69.
Mr. Larson was born in Berkeley to Mary Elizabeth (Flaherty) Larson and Leonel Larson.
He worked as a purchasing manager in manufacturing at Raycore in Modesto for 14 years.
Mr. Larson was a lifelong member of Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 5 , and enjoyed golf, baseball, football, fishing and working on his 1942 Jeep.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Larson is survived by his wife, Vanessa Larson, of Sonora; daughters, Michelle Freitas, of Oakley, Angel Hansen, of Tracy, and Andrea Miller, of Raeford, N.C.; sister, Mimi Fruehan, of El Cerrito; and grandchildren, Austein and Logan Freitas, both of Oakley, and Caleb and Myles Hansen, both of Tracy.
A memorial service will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. June 2 at Las Positas Clubhouse, 915 Clubhouse Drive, Livermore.
Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Harriet Fox Saunders
Oct. 8, 1922 — April 12, 2013
Murphys resident Harriet Fox Saunders died April 12 at Avalon Care Center in Sonora. She was 90.
Mrs. Saunders was born in Burbank to John E. Fox and Dr. Adelaide (Obear) Fox.
She worked in the aviation industry and held her pilot’s license before becoming a homemaker.
She moved to Murphys in 1993 from San Diego to be with family after her husband’s death.
She enjoyed researching on the Internet, gardening and quilting.
Mrs. Saunders was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Thomas F. Saunders, in 1993; her parents; and brother, John B. Fox, in 1985.
She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Perry and son-in-law Dale Perry, of Murphys, and Lynn Saunders, of Truckee.
No services are planned.
