Dianne Carla (James) Richter

Oct. 26, 1944 – March 31, 2013

Former Tuolumne resident Dianne Carla (James) Richter died March 31 in Woodland. She was 68.

Mrs. Richter was born in Sonora to Robert and Babe James. She was raised in Tuolumne where she lived until 1962. She graduated from Tuolumne High School in 1962, and afterward moved to San Francisco where she lived for several years.

She married Glen Richter in 1966 and, after raising her two sons, went to work for Safeway where she was employed for 20 years.

Mrs. Richter was a former Lumber Jubilee Queen. She enjoyed gardening, attending Lumber Jubilees and travel. She travelled to many different locales during her life, including Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Sharol (James)

Whitehead.

Mrs. Richter is survived by her husband of 47 years, Glen Richter, of Woodland; sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Jennifer Richter, of Woodland, and Troy and Becki Richter, of Roseville; grandsons Joshua and Zachary Richter, both of Roseville, and Brendon and Adam Richter, both of Woodland; brothers, Don James, of Tuolumne, and Bob James and sister-in-law Verla, of Elko, Nev.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Carters Cemetery, 19042 Cemetery Lane, Tuolumne. A potluck reception will follow at the Tuolumne Veterans Memorial Hall. For more information regarding the potluck, call 928-1709.

Chad Chesterfield Staubus

Nov. 19, 1929 — April 16, 2013

Sonora resident Chad Chesterfield Staubus died April 16 at Sonora Regional Medical Center, Unit 7. He was 83.

Mr. Staubus was born in Bloomington, Ill., to Augustus Kerr Staubus and Emily (Johnson) Staubus. He moved to Sonora about 5 years ago to be with family.

He worked as an electrician at General Electric in Bloomington for 25 years.

Mr. Staubus was a member of the Bloomington Historical Society.

He enjoyed history and railroads.

Mr. Staubus was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Ann Karen Evelsizer.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Donnie Heberle, of Sonora; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Peterson, of Sonora, Roger Perkins, of Sonora, and Jesteen Heberle, of Riverbank; and several generations of nieces and nephews. 

Services have been held. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Lucille Jean (Bottemiller) Wilson

Feb. 19, 1927 — Feb. 22, 2013

Former Soulsbyville resident Lucille Wilson died Feb. 22 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky. She was 86.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Oakland to Charles and Neva (Baldwin) Bottemiller.

She worked for 18 years as a bus driver for Tuolumne County schools and 13 years at the county assessor’s office.

She played the organ and directed the choir at Soulsbyville United Methodist Church for 30 years.

Mrs. Wilson moved with her husband to Magnolia, Ky., about 20 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Dearld Bottemiller.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack Vedell Wilson, of Magnolia; children, Michael John Wilson and Jacqueline Lee Wilson, both of Magnolia; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother and sister-in-law, Eldon and Evelyn Bottemiller, of Nampa, Idaho.

A memorial service has been held.

COMER — Former Columbia resident Alberta “Lorraine” Comer, 71, died Monday at a hospital in Scottsdale, Ariz. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements. 

SHEA — A funeral service for James Michael Shea, 73, of Murphys, who died Saturday at Mark Twain Convalescent Home, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Lucy’s Church, 2350 Winchester Blvd., Campbell. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. 

VAN DE VENTER — A funeral service for Gertrude Virginia Van De Venter, 92, of San Andreas, who died Sunday at her home, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset View Cemetery and Funeral Home, 101 Colusa Ave., Kensington. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. 

WILCOX — Jerry Lee Wilcox Jr., 45, of Tuolumne, died Sunday in Stockton. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

WILLIAMS — Aletia Williams, 87, of Groveland, died Sunday at her home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
