Thomas

Michael Flock

May 26, 1969-April 18, 2004

Former San Andreas resident Thomas Michael Flock died unexpectedly Sunday at his Yuba City home. He was 34.

He was born and raised in San Andreas. He lived in Long Beach for four years, then moved to Yuba City, where he lived for five years. He worked as a game warden for the California Department of Fish and Game for the past nine years. He graduated from Calaveras High School in 1987 and from California State University, Sacramento, in 1992.

His family said he loved to fish and play golf.

Mr. Flock is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Michelle Flock-Wilson and Dave Wilson of Santa Cruz; nephews, Cole and Garett Wilson of Santa Cruz; his parents, Mike and Anne Flock of San Andreas; and his grandfather, Gordon Finley of Sacramento.

A memorial service is scheduled for noon Saturday at the Calaveras High School Gymnasium in San Andreas.

Donations can be made to the Thomas M. Flock Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Bank of Lodi, P.O. Box 637, San Andreas, CA 95249.

San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Samuel ‘Sam'

O. Howell

March 15, 1917-April 21, 2004

Longtime Sonora resident Samuel "Sam" O. Howell died yesterday at a Modesto care home. He was 87.

He was born in Cleburne, Texas, and lived in San Jose from 1952 until moving to Sonora in 1965.

He worked in the shipyards during World War II and, after the war, worked on the Delta-Mendota Canal. He later owned a dairy for seven years in Stevinson, Merced County, worked at Pickering Lumber Company, now Sierra Pacific Industries, in Standard, and was a carpenter for 20 years. He was a member of the Carpenter's Union Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union.

His family said he enjoyed camping, hiking the outdoors and traveling.

Mr. Howell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mabel Howell of Sonora; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Cathy Howell of Alaska, Larry and Michele Howell of Florida and Gary and Krista Howell of Sonora; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie and Tim Frankenstein of Twain Harte; a sister, Mavie Keys of Exeter, Tulare County; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, R.T. and Doyle Howell; and sisters, Hazel Stinnet, Ella Jewell Stinnet and Lela Pearl Bowman.

Visitation is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. tomorrow at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. A chapel service be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mountain Shadow Cemetery.

Cheryl Gay Villegas

Aug. 29, 1959-April 13, 2004

Cheryl Gay Villegas of Campo Seco died April 13 at a Modesto hospital after a long illness. She was 44.

She was born in Stockton and had lived in Campo Seco for 10 years. She was a homemaker and member of Paloma Community Open Bible Church in Valley Springs.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Villegas of Campo Seco; daughters, Cindy Hughes and Christina Young, both of Stockton, and Charlene Allee of Campo Seco; brothers, Gary and Steven Allee, both of Stockton; her parents, Albert and Deloros Allee of Stockton; her grandmother Opal of Fresno; and a granddaughter.

Services were held.

Donations can be made to Paloma Community Open Bible Church, 6291 Church St., Valley Springs, CA 95252.

SMITH — A memorial service for Hugh Smith, 75, of Groveland is scheduled for 1 p.m. tomorrow at Groveland Evangelical Free Church. He died Tuesday at a Sonora hospital. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
