John Elward Bacon

Former San Andreas resident John Elward Bacon died April 14 at Chateau Convalescent Hospital in Stockton He was 86.
Mr. Bacon was born in Stockton to Ada and Robert Bacon.
He married Lola Price in Carson City, Nev., in September 1945.
Mr. Bacon worked as a diesel mechanic for 68 years in the Stockton area before retiring to San Andreas in the early 1980s.
He was a member of the San Andreas Lions Club. He volunteered at the San Andreas Senior Center and throughout the community.
Mr. Bacon was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church and a former member of Assembly of God Church, both in San Andreas.
He enjoyed music as well as building model airplanes and tall ships.
He returned to Stockton a few years ago to receive convalescent care.
Mr. Bacon is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lola Bacon, of Stockton; his daughters, Nancy Lee Laidlaw, of Redding, Conn., and Mary Thomson, of Clements; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Grace Fellowship Church, 1209 S. Highway 49, San Andreas.
San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
FREEZE — William E. Freeze, 53, of Jamestown, died April 13 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. today at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose St., Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
STANTON — A memorial Mass for Edward K. Stanton Jr., 83, and Jacqueline F. Stanton, 82, both of El Dorado, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Church, 3109 Sacramento St., Placerville.
Both died in an auto accident April 11 on Highway 49 north of Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
