Leonard John Cardoza

Valley Springs Leonard John Cardoza died April 10 of pancreatic cancer at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton. He was 77.
Mr. Cardoza was born in French Camp, the only child of Leonard and Marie Cardoza, of Tracy.
He lived in Tracy for 65 years before moving to Valley Springs to focus on his favorite hobby of golf.
He attended Tracy schools and graduated in 1954 from Tracy High School. He was also a member of the National Guard.
He worked for Western Pacific-Union Pacific Railroads for 44 years as a conductor. He was also a member of the Union Pacific Employees Club.
He was a member of La Contenta Golf Club and played golf with the Senior Men’s Club. Mr. Cardoza was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan Cardoza, of Valley Springs; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherie Cardoza, of Ceres, Charlene and Don Wilson, of Ripon, Natalie and Tim Hargrove, of Spring Hill, Tenn.; his son, John Cardoza, of Tracy; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Event Center, La Contenta Golf Course, 1653 Highway 26, Valley Springs.

Victoria ‘Vicki’ Lanning

Former Sonora resident Victoria “Vicki” Lanning died April 6 at Memorial Hospital in Modesto. She was 65.
Ms. Lanning was born in Madison, Wis., and worked as an insurance agent in Phoenix, Ariz., for 20 years.
She moved to Sonora in the 1990s and in 2008 moved to Modesto. She enjoyed yard sales, making jewelry and crotchet work.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Victor Lanning.
She is survived by family members Cynthia and Lorraine Hammond, of Sonora; and her stepson, Dana Bauder, of Albuquerque, N.M.
No services will be held.
Eaton Family Funeral Home of Modesto handled arrangements.
