Joe H. Shelton

Dec. 21, 1923 — April 9, 2004

Joe H. Shelton of Angels Camp died Friday at his home. He was 80.

He was born in Clarkton, Mo., and lived in Angels Camp for six years. He was retired from the Alameda County Sheriff's Department. He served in three wars in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Angels Camp, the Italian Catholic Federation and Forest Meadows Seniors Golf Club.

His family said he loved golfing and fishing.

Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife, Dee Shelton of Angels Camp; sons, Joseph Shelton of Alameda, Peter Shelton of Brentwood, Contra Costa County, Mark Shelton of Fremont, Charles Duppen of Santa Cruz and David Duppen of Felton, Santa Cruz County; daughters, Tricia Griffin of Ione and Donette Felker of San Jose; sisters, Verba Feekart of Clarkston, Mich., and Wilma Ferguson of Bothell, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Services were held.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 576, Angels Camp, CA 95222.

Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.


BERWALD — Edlef Karsten Berwald, 75, of Sonora died Sunday at a Sonora hospital. The Neptune Society of Northern California in Stockton is handling arrangements.

ZANKIEWICZ — James Edward Zankiewicz, 53, son-in-law of Don and Marilyn Ehrreich of Copperopolis, died Sunday at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
