Sheriff's reports

SUNDAY

10:09 a.m., Twain Harte — A man said all the windows were smashed, and the roof of his 1997 Toyota Camry caved in while the car was parked on Mt. Provo Road.

10:12 a.m., Bellview Oakes — A man on the 21000 block of Bellview Creek Road said a suspicious-looking man walked past his house twice in 10 minutes.

10:17 a.m., Twain Harte — A woman said a small child was sitting in some bushes on Twain Harte Drive. A deputy checked the area but didn't find the child.

10:28 a.m., Groveland — A man on the 17000 block of Old Highway 120 said a back fence was cut and someone stole a generator and power tools.

12:37 p.m., Columbia — The owner of Brian's Water Truck Service on Howser Lane said his business was burglarized and a truck was stolen from inside his shop. The man later found his truck parked in a lot at Columbia State Historic Park, but nothing was stolen from inside it.

12:49 p.m., Cedar Ridge — A man said he confronted a boy riding an all-terrain vehicle on the man's private property on Kuien Mill Road.

4:35 p.m., Big Hill — A man on the 21000 block of Columbia Crest Drive said his fence had been cut in two places, possibly by people trespassing to ride all-terrain vehicles on his property.

5:45 p.m., Jamestown — A Hillcrest Manor employee said a former resident just wandered into the building looking disoriented.

7:32 p.m., Columbia — A man on the 22400 block of Airport Road South said a man was outside with several friends, trying to start a fight.

10:42 p.m., Tuolumne — A Black Oak Casino security officer found a wallet full of small plastic bags that appeared to be filled with drugs.

YESTERDAY

12:34 a.m., East Sonora — An office at Cal Sierra Disposal on the 19300 block of Industrial Drive was ransacked and a window broken with a pickax.

3:49 a.m., Columbia — A caller on the 22400 block of Airport Road South said a man was purposely setting off the caller's vehicle alarm then walking back to his own house. The caller said this had been going on for more than two hours.

Felony bookings

FRIDAY

1:49 p.m., Sonora — Aaron David Gray, 26, 14600 block of Tuolumne Road, Sonora, booked on suspicion of possessing a concealed weapon on school grounds. According to a Sonora police report, Gray was riding a skateboard on the campus as Sonora High School. When School Resource Officer Mike Christ questioned the man, the officer found he had a dive knife underneath his jacket.

Gray remains held this morning in lieu of $5,000 bail.

8:57 p.m., Jamestown — David Machanis Bryan, 38, no address given, Sonora, booked on a state parole hold after an arrest on Preston Lane. He remained held without bail this morning.

10:19 a.m., Sonora — Richard Dale Baskett Jr., 38, 21800 block of Lyons-Bald Mountain Road, Sonora, booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic needle after an arrest on Truckenmiller Road. No details were available. He remained held without bail this morning.

11:50 p.m., Columbia — Reginaldo Guillermo Silva Jr., 19, 1400 block of Hunt Road, Manteca, booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and drunken driving after arrest at Columbia College

Highway Patrol Officer Brad Schultz said Silva and another friend parked Silva's truck on campus and walked toward one of the dormitories, each holding an open container of beer. A college employee told Silva and his friend that alcohol was not allowed on the school grounds and asked them to leave. When they refused, the employee called for help from the sheriff's department.

Silva got back into the truck and backed up a few inches, knocking the employee off balance. A sheriff's deputy talked to Silva and the employee and had Silva take a sobriety test for a CHP officer, who arrested him on suspicion of drunken driving. He remained held this morning in lieu of $30,000 bail.

YESTERDAY

12:04 a.m., Jamestown area — Ismael Thomas Viscarra, 19, 10 block of Brookside Place, Sonora, and Sara Marie Shaw, 22, no address given, both booked on suspicion of possessing stolen property and attempting to commit a felony with a firearm after an arrest on Highway 108 near Wigwam Road.

According to a sheriff's department report, Deputy Kelly Dickson stopped a 1998 Toyota Camry for a traffic violation. When Dickson asked a sheriff's dispatcher to check on the status of the car, he learned the car had been stolen from Modesto.

Dickson questioned Viscarra and Shaw, and said he found a gun inside the car. He arrested them both. Shaw was also booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Viscarra remained held this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail. Shaw was released after posting $10,000 bail.

Lori Joann Peppers, 42, 22500 block of Meadow Lane, Sonora, booked at 8:45 p.m. Friday after arrest on Longeway Road, East Sonora.

Joseph Curtis Valles, 22, 11700 block of Columbia College Drive, Sonora, booked at 12:53 a.m. Saturday after arrest on Saratoga Road, Sonora.

Michael Angelo Morrison, 50, 16700 block of Sallander Drive, Sonora, booked at 5:05 a.m. Saturday after arrest at Tuolumne General Hospital, Sonora.

Shanta Sosina Campos, 24, 19400 block of Mi-Wu Street, Tuolumne, booked at 2:54 a.m. Sunday after arrest on Washington Street at Church Street, Sonora.

Michael Kevin Lawler, 42, 21900 block of Springfield Road, Sonora, booked at 1 a.m. Sunday after arrest on Highway 108 at Via Este, Soulsbyville area.

Kevin Darris Baker, 29, undisclosed address on Jamestown Road, Jamestown area, booked at 1:01 a.m. Sunday after arrest on Stewart Street at Lyons Street, Sonora.

Richard Cameron Patterson, 48, 300 block of Locust Street, Manteca, booked at 1:50 a.m. Sunday after arrest on Tuolumne Road north of Lambert Lake Road, Standard area.

Sonora police reports

SUNDAY

3:56 a.m., suspicious circumstances — A man seen running away from Sonora Community Hospital toward Stockton Road with paint all over his mouth was stopped by an officer who talked to the man and sent him on his way.

8:32 a.m., theft — A vehicle tow dolly attached to a rental truck was stolen overnight while the truck was parked on the 100 block of Snell Street.

11:29 a.m., theft — A woman on the 400 block of Greenley Road said her car was stolen, when it actually was repossessed.

12:38 p.m., traffic accident — A woman said the driver of an older blue pickup backed into her car at Timberhills shopping center, then drove off. She gave police the license plate number of the truck.

2:49 p.m., theft — A Wal-Mart employee said more than $270 worth of merchandise was shoplifted.

SUNDAY

5:16 p.m., San Andreas — A vehicle on the 2000 block of Spring Hill Drive was broken into and vandalized.

6:20 p.m., Angels Camp — A caller at New Melones Reservoir said cars were parked in a boat-launch area and people were swimming near the ramp, making it difficult for boats to enter the water.

6:40 p.m., San Andreas — A caller on the 300 block of Neilson said a neighbor was revving a vehicle engine and causing fumes.

YESTERDAY

5:22 a.m., Vallecito — A stereo and speakers were stolen from a vehicle.

7:38 p.m., Rail Road Flat — A 20-year-old Rail Road Flat man was booked on suspicion of spousal battery after arrest at his home. He remained held this morning in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Arrests

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Joe Louis Martino, 48, 7000 block of Schaads Road, Wilseyville, booked at 2:39 a.m. Sunday after arrest on Blue Mountain Road east of Rail Road Flat. He was cited and released.

Fires

FRIDAY

6:30 p.m., Angels Camp area — A 3-acre vegetation fire was reported on Highway 49 near Gloryhole Recreation Area. Damage was estimated at $1,500 to grass, a wooden fence, and a parked vehicle. Ruby Mendoza of the 3000 block of Highway 49 owns the land. Cause of the fire is under investigation. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, one dozer from Altaville, crews from Vallecito Conservation Camp, one helicopter and one air attack from Columbia Air Base, Altaville-Melones Fire Protection District and Angels Camp Fire Protection District responded.

10:15 p.m., Angels Camp Area — A 1-acre grass fire was reported on Highway 4, a half mile west of Angels Camp. Cause of the fire is under investigation. CDF, Altaville-Melones Fire Protection District and Angels Camp Fire Department responded.

10:30 p.m., Angels Camp area — A small spot fire was reported on Old Stockton Road. No dollar damage was reported. Landowner is undetermined. Angels Camp Fire Department and Altaville-Melones Fire Protection District responded.

SATURDAY

7 p.m., Arnold — A vehicle fire was reported on the 1500 block of Brandy Flat Court. Damage was estimated at $30,000 to a 1999 Ford pickup. The fire was caused by the spontaneous combustion of oily rags. Arthur Huff of the same address owns the truck. CDF and Ebbetts Pass Fire Protection District responded.
