Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

7:45 a.m., Twain Harte — A employee at The Rock on the 23000 block of Fuller Road said a side fence had been damaged and buckets thrown around.

8:41 a.m., Soulsbyville — A woman on Monte Grande Road said she received a phone call from a woman who kept crying and asking for help, but before the caller could give her name, the line was disconnected.

8:54 a.m., Tuolumne — A caller reported a Mother Lode Christian School vehicle was broken into while it was parked at the school on the 18300 block of Gardner Avenue.

9:45 a.m., Jamestown — A contractor said plywood, bolts and nails were stolen from a construction site on Eighth Avenue and Eighth Street. The man found the items in a neighbor's yard and rang the doorbell at the house, but no one answered.

10:06 a.m., Standard area — A man on the 19000 block of Waif Mine Road said a video security camera at his house was knocked off a post.

1:48 p.m., Twain Harte — A man at Twain Harte Lumber on the 22900 block of Twain Harte Drive said three men came to the business and threatened an employee who was out to lunch at the time.

2:32 p.m., Sonora area — A 35-year-old man was arrested at Child Welfare Services on the 20100 block of Cedar Road North on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs.

4:25 p.m., Columbia — A man on the 23500 block of Italian Bar Road said two bicycles, together valued at $825, were stolen in the last six weeks.

4:44 p.m., Phoenix Lake Road — A woman on the 21200 block of Phoenix Lake Road said an angry neighbor was marching up and down on an easement between their two houses, yelling at her and her daughter.

6:17 p.m., Tuolumne — A man said an ex-employee altered a paycheck, then tried to cash it at a Tuolumne business.

6:20 p.m., Twain Harte — A 7-Eleven employee said a crowd of about 20 teenagers, some on skateboards, were outside the store on the 22900 block of Joaquin Gully Road harassing passersby and swearing.

7:22 p.m., Big Hill — A man said that as he was driving up Gunsight Road, he saw a woman in a driveway on the 22400 block of Gunsight Road smashing a safe.

9:41 p.m., Jamestown — Two deputies were looking for a teenager who might have stolen a motorcycle.

YESTERDAY

12:30 a.m., Tuolumne — A man on the 18400 block of Chestnut Avenue said someone tried to kill his dog, because the dog returned home with burn marks.

12:47 p.m., Twain Harte — A woman on the 18800 block of Manzanita Drive said when she let her dogs out, someone jumped out from bushes and ran away.

3:42 a.m., Soulsbyville — A newspaper delivery woman reported a broken window at Papa's New Roost restaurant on the 20000 block of Highway 108.

3:49 a.m., Tuolumne — A man was arrested on misdemeanor warrants after a woman saw his truck parked at a driveway on Mika Lane and thought it was suspicious because no one should be in the area.

Felony bookings

TUESDAY

11 a.m. Chinese Camp area — Francisco Javier Ortega, 21, 300 block of South Orange Street, Turlock, booked on suspicion of being in the country illegally after an arrest on La Grange Road south of Red Hills Road.

A California Highway Patrol officer stopped Ortega on suspicion of driving while under the influence and during the stop, discovered the man did not have proper identification to prove citizenship.

Ortega remained held this morning without bail.

1:17 p.m., Sonora — A 40-year-old Sonora man booked on suspicion of felony spousal battery after an arrest at his apartment. A county welfare worker was at a nearby apartment and overheard a violent argument at the man's home. When the worker knocked on the door, the man's wife answered and said her husband assaulted her. The worker called Sonora police and the man was arrested.

The man was released and no charges filed after the case was reviewed by the Tuolumne County District Attorney's office.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Vickey Renay Chadwick, 45, 3400 block of Colonial Drive, Modesto, booked at 12:36 a.m. Tuesday after arrest on Highway 107 at the east entrance to Twain Harte.

Sonora police reports

TUESDAY

2:32 a.m., threats — A woman said that when she went to pick up her belongings from a house on the 500 block of North Highway 49, a woman and her husband threatened her.

2:42 a.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller on the 100 block of East Hillcrest Street said a woman came to the door asking for a knife to start her car.

3:37 a.m., vehicle theft — A man on the 200 block of Mono Way said his vehicle had been stolen, possibly by someone he knew.

8:24 a.m., burglary — A man said a maintenance shed on the 80 block of North Forest Road belonging to Seventh-day Adventist Church was broken into.

8:51 a.m., animal complaints — A woman found a tan terrier with a black nylon collar on South Stewart Street and turned it over to an animal control officer who took the dog to the county animal shelter.

8:56 a.m., found property — A man found a wallet in an alley on Stockton Road and turned it over to police.

11:45 a.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in a traffic accident on Snell Street, although one of the drivers requested an officer to take a report.

1:16 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller said a man was in the middle of South Washington Street near Restano Way using a business's hose to wash down the street.

1:30 p.m., animal complaints — A caller said an aggressive dog attacked the caller on McCormick Drive.

2:08 p.m., agency assist — An officer helped Tuolumne General Hospital emergency room staff deal with an irate patient.

3:29 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller on the 1100 block of Sanguinetti Road said a middle-age man with long blond hair, wearing baggy jeans and no shirt and acting strangely was riding a bicycle. The man was gone before an officer got there.

4:34 p.m., traffic accident — A man involved in a minor traffic accident on the 1000 block of Mono Way complained of back pain, but did not want to go to the hospital.

4:45 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A woman said a heavy-set man with a backpack was lying in grass at a business on 200 block of Stockton Road.

7:01 p.m., theft — A teen was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from Sonora Express Mart on Pesce Way.

9:25 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller heard banging coming from a cemetery near Greenley Road. An officer checked and found two men working on a vehicle.

TUESDAY

8:51 p.m., Valley Springs — Two women were reportedly fighting and throwing things on the 60 block of Daphne Street.

10:47 p.m., Rancho Calaveras — A man knocked on a door on the 8000 block of Owens Way and said two men were chasing him.

YESTERDAY

12:33 a.m., Copperopolis — A caller on the 800 block of Feather Drive said several people were trying to break into a neighbor's house. A deputy checked, but found nobody.
