Sheriff's reports

SUNDAY

8:45 a.m., Columbia area — A man on the 21000 block of Springfield Road said a barn on his property was broken into and a saddle, bridles and blankets valued at $3,150 were stolen.

11:04 a.m., Lambert Lake Estates — A man said a fire gate at the end of Lambert Lake Road had been broken.

12:37 a.m., Twain Harte — A man said three teenagers were sitting on top of the railroad bridge over East Avenue spitting on cars.

1:19 p.m., Sonora area — A caller said a man appeared to be struggling with a small child next to a maroon car on Mono Way near Greenley Road. A Highway Patrol officer checked on the situation and determined that everything was OK.

1:45 p.m., Phoenix Lake area — A man said a white and tan motor home has been parked off and on near Phoenix Lake Road and Meadow Brook Drive. Every time the man calls about the vehicle it gets moved before a deputy arrives. He thinks the motor home owner has a police scanner.

2:07 p.m., Groveland — A woman on the 19800 block of Cottonwood Street said a woman came to her house and assaulted her over a dispute with a boyfriend.

2:11 a.m., Big Hill area — A man said two boys were riding dirt bikes on his property off Quail Mine Road and the man was worried because of high fire danger.

2:58 p.m., Twain Harte area — A woman on the 17500 block of Mt. Elizabeth Drive said a scruffy-looking man was riding a motorcycle on her property and wouldn't leave.

3:27 p.m., Twain Harte — A Twain Harte Pharmacy employee said an intoxicated man was causing problems in the store, on the 18700 block of Tiffeni Drive.

6:16 p.m., Sonora area — A woman from an undisclosed address said her checkbook and check register were stolen sometime Friday.

7:08 p.m., Mono Village — A Cal Sierra Disposal transfer station employee reported finding a complete computer system near a company building on the 19300 block of Industrial Drive.

10:18 p.m., Twain Harte — A caller on the 23600 block of Ontario Drive said a 49-year-old man is outside the house and extremely drunk.

10:31 p.m., Quail Hollow — A caller from the 20200 block of Grouse Way said he was assaulted by another man who hit him first man on the back of the head several times.

YESTERDAY

2:04 a.m., Twain Harte — A woman on the 18800 block of Manzanita Drive said she could hear her garage door being opened.

4:45 a.m., Standard — An alarm went off at Standard Park on 18500 Standard Road and a deputy found broken glass at the concession stand.

Felony bookings

FRIDAY

9:50 a.m., Gibbs Ranch — John Charles Walls, 35, 11200 block of Coopers Court, Sonora, booked on a state parole hold after an arrest at his house. He was held without bail this morning.

12:15 p.m., Tuolumne — A 35-year-old Tuolumne man booked on suspicion of lewd acts on a child after an arrest at his home. No details were available. He was released Friday after posting $40,000 bail.

SATURDAY

5:10 a.m., Sonora — Jeffrey Don Hutson, 31, 4936 Claribel Road, Modesto, booked on suspicion of vehicle theft and receiving stolen property after an arrest by a California Highway Patrol officer on Mono Way and Greenley Road, Sonora. He was released Saturday after posting $10,000 bail.

11:15 a.m., Twain Harte — Richard Michael Salen-Hillig, 45, unknown address, Twain Harte booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after an arrest on the 22600 block of North Tuolumne Road. No details were available. He remained in custody this morning, held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

SUNDAY

12:21 a.m., Sonora — Richard Russell Butler, 26, no address given, booked on suspicion of petty theft with prior convictions after an arrest at Pak-N-Save on the 1200 block of Sanguinetti Road, Sonora. He remained in custody this morning, held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

8:13 p.m., Jamestown — Christopher Scott Starr, 24, 18000 block of Sierra Avenue, Jamestown, booked on a warrant charging him with making criminal threats, violating his probation and failure to appear for a court date after an arrest on Preston Lane. He was held this morning without bail.

9:43 p.m., Jamestown — Jeremy Blaine Quinn, 24, 10700 block of Wigwam Road, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after an arrest on Fifth Avenue at Ninth Street, Jamestown. A deputy saw Quinn walking along a road by Railtown 1897 State Historic Park and asked his name and what he was doing. Quinn gave his name and the deputy learned he was on probation for a previous drug conviction. The deputy searched Quinn and found methamphetamine in a plastic bag inside his pocket.

Quinn was held this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Jeffrey Lee Saner, 50, 12900 block of Chukar Circle, Sonora, booked at 1 p.m. Friday after arrest on North Washington Street at Cowan Street, Sonora.

Bruce Alan McDonald, 50, 17200 block of Jeanese Road, Jamestown, booked at 12:15 a.m. Saturday after arrest on Jeanese Road at Chicken Ranch Road, Jamestown area.

Neil Antoni Comolino, 31, 23300 block of Pack Trail Road, Cedar Ridge, booked at 1 p.m. Saturday after arrest on Twain Harte Drive, Twain Harte.

Mark Anthony Sohl, 47, 8900 block of Highway 49, Sonora area, booked at 11:05 p.m. Sunday after arrest on Highway 49 north of Mt. Brow Road.

Sonora police reports

SUNDAY

midnight, public peace — An officer broke up a fight in front of a business on the 10 block of South Stewart Street and said others in the area were starting to get rowdy.

12:04 p.m., found property — An officer found a bicycle under a Stockton Road bridge.

12:53 p.m., animal complaints — A woman on the 200 block of East Live Oak Drive said a large pile of garbage was cleared up at a nearby house and a large nest of rats was uncovered. Some of the rats have died due to poisoning but two alive rats were in the woman's yard.

4:08 p.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in a traffic accident on the 400 block of East Lyons Street.

8:04 p.m., vehicle theft — A man said his car was stolen but it turned out he forgot where he parked it. An officer found it on the 100 block of South Washington Street.

10:32 p.m., controlled substances — A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia after an officer stopped the man who was riding a bicycle on South Stewart Street near William Street.

SUNDAY

1:59 p.m., West Point — Some children were threatening another child with a paint ball gun on the 300 block of Stanley Road.

3:28 p.m., Valley Springs — A woman on the 3000 block of Berkesey Drive came home and found people burglarizing her garage. They got away with a few items.

3:53 p.m., Valley Springs — Youths were reportedly riding dirt bikes up and down a private road near the 3000 block of Crestview Drive.

4:40 p.m., Arnold — A snowblower, lawnmower, firewood and landscaping tools were stolen from a front yard on the 1000 block of Coniferous Drive.

3:35 p.m., San Andreas — A 23-year-old San Andreas man was booked on suspicion of spousal battery after arrest on the 300 block of Sunset Street. He was held in lieu of $50,000 this morning.

Fire

FRIDAY

7:15 p.m., Jamestown — A structure fire was reported at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park on Fifth Avenue. Cause of the fire is believed to be arson. Anyone with information should call Richard Imlach at 532-0821. Dollar damage was estimated at $1,000 to a wagon, some decking and some hay. California Parks and Recreation owns the land. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne County Fire Department and Jamestown Fire Protection District responded.

SATURDAY

10:15 a.m., Twain Harte — A spot fire was reported on the 18900 block of Aspen Circle. Damage was estimated at $200 to the lot and the side of a garage. Tracy Martin of the same address owns the property. Cause of the fire is undetermined. CDF, Tuolumne County Fire Department, Twain Harte Community Services District Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service, Mi-Wuk-Sugar Pine Fire Protection District, one crew from Baseline Conservation Camp and one helicopter from Columbia Air Base responded.

10:18 a.m., Sonora — A structure fire was reported on the 100 block of Pine Street. CDF, Tuolumne County Fire Department, Jamestown Fire Protection District and Sonora City Fire Department responded.

4:12 p.m., Sonora — A fire was reported at Day-O Espresso on the 300 block of South Washington. Sonora City Fire Department responded.

CALAVERAS COUNTY

SATURDAY

1:30 p.m., Arnold — A structure fire was reported on the 1800 block of Medina Drive. Damage was estimated at $304,000 to a single-family dwelling. Ronald Martyn of the same address owns the house. Cause of the fire is under investigation. CDF, Ebbetts Pass Fire Protection District, U.S. Forest Service, one crew from Vallecito Conservation Camp and one helicopter from Columbia Air Base responded.

5:20 p.m., Bar XX — An 8-acre grass fire was reported on Appaloosa Road. Dollar damage was estimated at $2,400. Cause of the fire is under investigation. Landowner is undetermined. CDF, Altaville-Melones Fire Protection District, Copperopolis Fire Protection District, one crew from Vallecito Conservation Camp, one crew from Baseline Conservation Camp, one helicopter from Columbia Air Base and two airtankers from out of the area responded.

SUNDAY

5 p.m., Copperopolis — A vehicle fire was reported on the 3200 block of Yana Court. Damage was estimated at $1,000 to a 1986 Ford pickup bed and tools. Randall Cobb of the same address owns the truck. CDF and Copperopolis Fire Protection District responded.

6:20 p.m., Copperopolis — A small spot fire was reported on the 2000 block of Teepee Court. No dollar damage was reported. The fire was caused by a tractor doing work. Richard Ross of the same address owns the land. CDF and Copperopolis Fire Protection District responded.
