Sheriff's reports

WEDNESDAY

7:03 a.m., Columbia — A woman said a man driving an older gray Honda sedan on Yankee Hill Road near Mountain Boy Mine Road appeared to be casing the neighborhood.

10:01 a.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 10300 block of Preston Lane said someone went into her apartment while she was taking out her trash and stole beer from her refrigerator.

10:19 a.m., Twain Harte — A woman said a vehicle was in a creek behind a house on the 22400 block of Mono Drive.

10:45 a.m., Sonora Meadows — A mountain bike valued at $750 was stolen from a house on the 16500 block of Sallander Drive.

11:26 a.m., Phoenix Lake area — A woman on the 22100 block of Paseo de los Portales said two trash cans full of garbage were dumped at the end of her property.

11:37 a.m., Sonora — A man on the 12900 block of Chukar Circle said two men came to his house on Friday and threatened him.

12:04 p.m., Groveland — An administrator at Moccasin Community Day School found marijuana inside a bathroom vent at the school.

4:25 p.m., Jamestown — A man on the 10100 block of Peppermint Lane said he caught a boy looking inside his house. The man said this was a continuing problem.

4:45 p.m., Columbia — A woman on the 22800 block of Valley Quail Road said a another woman threw a rock through the back window of the caller's car.

5:26 p.m., Twain Harte — A woman said two men in a white car were driving around Golf Club Drive backing into and out of bushes. She was worried the men were casing the neighborhood.

6:15 p.m., Jamestown — A caller said teenagers were riding a kitchen table down a driveway leading to Preston Lane. She was afraid the teens would be injured.

6:27 p.m., Sonora Meadows — A man on the 16600 block of Creekside Drive said a girl's teal-and-white mountain bike was stolen.

9:25 p.m., Jamestown — A caller said a man sitting inside a van behind a restaurant on the 18200 block of Main Street might be casing the business.

YESTERDAY

1:38 a.m., Jamestown — A caller said an older man wearing a blue work shirt was going through vehicles parked on the 10300 block of Preston Lane.

Felony bookings

WEDNESDAY

8:02 a.m., Sonora — Meri Evangela Johnson, 31, 10400 block of Preston Lane, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of false impersonation after an arrest on Snell Street at Springhill Drive, Sonora. Johnson was stopped for a traffic violation, according to a Sonora Police report, and gave her sister's name when an officer asked who she was. Johnson was driving with a suspended driver's license. She remained held this morning in lieu of $5,000 bail.

12:40 p.m., Sonora — Jerry Robert Bein, 35, 800 block of Lariat Loop, Galt, booked on a warrant charging him with burglary, forgery and passing false checks. He was brought to the Tuolumne County Jail from a state prison in Sacramento. He remained in jail this morning, held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

9:51 p.m., Groveland — David Thomas McBride, 44, unknown address on Dexter Road, Coulterville, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop and arrest on Jackass Creek Road near Jackass Ridge Road, Groveland. He remained in jail this morning, held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

9:52 p.m., Sonora — Roger Allen James, 40, 12800 block of Chukar Circle, Sonora, booked on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance and on 17 misdemeanor warrants after an arrest at his house. No details were available. He remained in jail this morning, held in lieu of $200,000 bail.

YESTERDAY

12:28 p.m., Sonora Meadows — Jeff Clyde Aidnik, 37, 16500 block of Creekside Drive, Sonora Meadows, booked on suspicion of failing to register as a sex offender after an arrest at his house.

Sheriff's Sgt. Roger Dittberner said Aidnik was convicted on child molestation in 1985 in Alameda County Superior Court. After serving prison time, Aidnik was required to register his address with law enforcement wherever he lives.

Aidnik last registered with San Leandro police on May 17, 2003. Aidnik's driver's license said he lived at the Creekside Drive house since March 30, 2004, but he did not notify Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department of his whereabouts.

Aidnik remained in jail this morning, held in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

David Edward Leboutillier, 21, 24300 block of Canyonview Drive, Tuolumne, booked at 12:39 a.m. yesterday after arrest on Crystal Falls Drive between Eel River Drive and Columbia River Drive, Crystal Falls.

Linda Jean Willingham, 44, 11900 block of Appie Way, Sonora, booked at 12:50 a.m. yesterday after arrest on Avenida Bonita and Via Serena, Cuesta Serena.

Sonora police reports

YESTERDAY

6:59 a.m., vehicle theft — A 1984 Dodge Ram pickup truck was stolen from a house on the 100 block of Columbia Way.

9:56 a.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in an accident on Mono Way at Restano Way.

1:26 p.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in a traffic accident on Hospital Road near Mono Way.

4:04 p.m., assault — A caller said a group of youths were fighting on the 80 block of North Washington Street.

5:19 p.m., theft — Gasoline was stolen from Sonora Carpet Mart delivery trucks parked behind the store on Mono Way. The caller said when gasoline was stolen a month ago, locks were put on the gas caps, but gas was stolen again overnight.

5:21 p.m., parking violation — A woman on the 90 block of West Dodge Lane said a white Toyota pickup truck with government license plates had been parked in front of a walkway to her house for four days. She wanted the truck moved so she could get into her house.

5:25 p.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in an accident on Mono Way.

6:36 p.m., burglary — A house on the 300 block of Snell Street was burglarized and tools were stolen.

11:16 p.m., public intoxication — A 44-year-old man was booked at the county jail on suspicion of public drunkenness after a caller found the man passed out on the 300 block of North Washington Street.

Fires

YESTERDAY

8 a.m., Big Hill — A half-acre brush fire was reported on Big Hill Road at Calle Court. The Hatler family owns the property. The fire was caused by someone smoking. Fire officials also found a small marijuana garden, and turned the case over to Tuolumne County Narcotics Team. Anyone with information is asked to call Richard Imlach at 532-0821. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne County Fire Department and Columbia Fire Protection District responded.

3 p.m., Moccasin area — A two-acre woodland fire was reported on Highway 120 at Jacksonville Road. Damage was estimated at $20,000 to brush and a fifth-wheel travel trailer. Helen Oletzke of Parkers Prairie, Minn., owns the trailer. CDF, Tuolumne County Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service, one crew from Baseline Conservation Camp and one CDF helicopter responded. Embers from a still-smoldering debris burn started the fire.

6:46 p.m., West County — A quarter-acre grass fire was reported at Shotgun Creek Estates off O'Byrnes Ferry Road. The fire was caused by an escaped debris burn. Greg Hummel of Twain Harte owns the property, and was cited. CDF and Tuolumne County Fire Department responded.

10:09 p.m., West County — A linseed oil-soaked rag spontaneously combusted on the 15500 block of Highway 108 at Montezuma Junction. Damage was estimated at $20,000 to a shed containing fuel, oils, paints and insecticides. Otis Rosasco of the same address owns the property. CDF, Tuolumne County Fire Department and one crew from Baseline Conservation Camp responded.

WEDNESDAY

9:23 a.m., San Andreas — A father and daughter were arguing on the 100 block of Pixley Avenue.

3:13 p.m., Copperopolis — A loose pit bull and Rottweiler were reported on the 1000 block of Iroquois Circle.

3:27 p.m., San Andreas — A homeowner on the 7000 block of Victory Lane said garbage was dumped in a nearby gully.

4:13 p.m., San Andreas — A clerk at a grocery store on Highway 49 reportedly followed a woman and her child to their car while shouting obscenities at them.

4:41 p.m., Paloma — A caller on the 6800 block of Lawson Road said her grandson ran away on his bicycle.

4:42 p.m., Copperopolis — A man said upon returning home, he found someone in his house on the 2900 block of Cheyenne Road.

5:06 p.m., Vallecito — A caller on the 3700 block of Coyote Creek Road said a neighbor continues to pan for gold in the caller's creek.

5:17 p.m., Rail Road Flat — A caller on the 1100 block of Royal Lane said she wanted her daughter to leave the house because of her flaring temper.

8:23 p.m., Valley Springs — A young man and elderly woman reportedly stole meat from a grocery store on Highway 26. The store's manager followed them outside and retrieved the meat, but the pair ran away.

9:11 p.m., West Point — A caller on the 100 block of Main Street said his vehicle had been tampered with and his landlord's dog was injured.

10:33 p.m., Angels Camp — Air horns were sounding on the 1000 block of Utica Drive.

11:24 p.m., San Andreas — Tammy Marie Chavez, 35, 22000 block of Sharon Road, Sonora, booked on suspicion of burglary and vandalism. She remained in custody this morning at Calaveras County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bail.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Steven Quintin Henson, 46, Live Oak Drive, Douglas Flat, booked at 7 p.m. Wednesday after arrest at the intersection of Rolleri Bypass Road and Highway 4, Angels Camp.

Fires

YESTERDAY

7 a.m., West Point — A two-acre timber fire was reported off Spur Four Road. Damage was estimated at $800 to the timber. Sierra Pacific Industries owns the property. The fire was caused by wind blowing embers from an old debris burn. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, one crew from Vallecito Conservation Camp and one helicopter from Columbia Air Base responded.
