Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

10:06 a.m., Jamestown — A caller found a wallet beside Highway 108 and Main Street and turned it over to the sheriff's department.

10:24 a.m., Pinecrest — A man said a canoe valued at $495 was stolen from a vacation cabin on Pinecrest Lake. The canoe had been secured with a chain and padlock.

10:59 a.m., Tuolumne area — A man said a tanker truck was shot at Monday while the truck was on a road near Basin Creek Campground.

11:08 a.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 18100 block of Fifth Avenue said her neighbor made threats to her again in a series of ongoing problems between the two.

1:12 p.m., Groveland — A man on the 12900 block of Wells Fargo Drive said an ornamental deer valued at $100 was stolen in the last month.

2:04 p.m., Twain Harte — A woman said she was assaulted by another woman in front of a store on Tiffeni Drive.

4:07 p.m., Twain Harte — A man on the 23000 block of Thunderbolt Mine Road said his shop-garage was broken into over the weekend.

4:23 p.m., Jamestown — A man on the 18000 block of Ninth Avenue said another man came into his house while he was sleeping and choked him.

4:31 p.m., Phoenix Lake area — A woman on the 14100 block of Oak Knoll Road said there was a rattlesnake in her garage. A dispatcher gave her the telephone number of a snake-removal company.

5:35 p.m., Pinecrest — A Pinecrest Lake Resort employee said a man threw a beer can and assaulted an employee. The man was arguing with his father and the employee asked the man to calm down. The man became angry at the employee, who was cleaning up hot charcoal coals the man had knocked over.

6:27 p.m., Jamestown — The manager of Jamestown Terrace Apartments said two men "jumped" the manager's brother in the playground area, then left, walking toward Seco Street.

7 p.m., Jamestown — A man on the 14000 block of Jacksonville Road said a man on a bicycle has been trespassing on his property for the last few days.

7:18 p.m., Tuolumne — A man parked near railroad tracks on Tuolumne Road was said to have been living in his vehicle for several days. A deputy checked and asked him to move on.

8:04 p.m., Groveland — A woman on the 11000 block of Deer Bush Court said she was assaulted by a man when she returned home.

8:37 p.m., Jamestown — A caller said a woman on Main Street was alternately screaming then crying. When a deputy questioned her, the woman said she was doing neither.

Felony bookings

YESTERDAY

10:52 a.m., Sonora — Christopher Ross Tyler, 33, 3000 block of Beckett Lane, Modesto, booked on a warrant charging him with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of a court order after surrendering at the county jail. Tyler was held without bail this morning.

TODAY

1:09 a.m., Jamestown — Joseph Donald Toste, 40, 22400 block of South Airport Road, Columbia, booked on suspicion of possessing an illegal weapon and of violating parole after arrest on Preston Lane. According to the sheriff's department, a search that followed a traffic stop yielded a 16-inch homemade wooden club with tape around the handle. Toste was held without bail this morning.

Cited for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Shawn Johnson, 37, 19500 block of Ferretti Road, Groveland, booked at 9:55 p.m. yesterday after arrest on Ferretti Road east of Tioga High School.

Sonora police reports

TUESDAY

10:28 a.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in a collision involving a white mini-van and another vehicle on Greenley Road.

2:55 p.m., animal complaints — A caller on Greenley Road found a dead bat under clothes, then the family cat carried it away.

5:02 p.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in a two-car accident on Greenley Road.

6:57 p.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in an accident on Yaney Avenue involving a Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department vehicle.

8:06 p.m., theft — A caller said a purse was stolen Sunday at a restaurant on Mono Way.

YESTERDAY

12:34 a.m., public intoxication — A 27-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness after someone saw her and a man lying along the side of North Washington Street.

Fires

YESTERDAY

4:30 a.m., Standard area — A woodchip trailer was reported on fire on the 14900 block of Camage Avenue. The fire was caused by spontaneous combustion of the woodchips. Damage was estimated at $100 to the chips. Fulton Trucking of Groveland owns the trailer. Tuolumne County Fire Department and California Department of Forestry responded.

6:30 p.m., Twain Harte — A vehicle fire was reported on Twain Harte Drive at Tiffeni Drive. Damage was estimated at $1,500 to a 1995 GMC Jimmy. The fire started in the engine compartment. Owner is undetermined. Twain Harte Community Services District Fire Department responded.

CALAVERAS COUNTY

Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

6:43 a.m., Jenny Lind — A window was broken by children playing at Jenny Lind High School on the 11600 block of School Street over the weekend. The children's parents contacted the school.

11:23 p.m., San Andreas — A truck parked on the 500 block of West St. Charles Street was vandalized.

12:29 p.m., San Andreas — A caller on the 500 block of Marshall Avenue said there was a strange smell in the area.

12:40 p.m., Camp Connell — A man said he was being chased by three men in a truck on Chillano Avenue after previously calling about items being stolen from his car.

1:34 p.m., Valley Springs — A caller said a dog was left in a car parked at an apartment building on Cedar Street for most of the day. A deputy checked and the dog and car were gone.

2:26 p.m., San Andreas — A bus driver said a man on the bus from Angels Camp to San Andreas caused a disturbance.

6:25 p.m., Arnold — A woman on the 1000 block of Shady Circle said her drip irrigation system had been tampered with.

9:43 p.m., Valley Springs — A caller on the 5000 block of Driver Road said a suspicious man had been in the area ever since Saturday, when his car ran out of gas.
