Sheriff's reports

MONDAY

6:55 a.m., East Sonora — A woman said a stereo was stolen out of a boat parked on a trailer on the 19500 block of Hess Avenue.

8:24 a.m., Wards Ferry Road area — A man on the 17000 block of Wards Ferry Road said he found evidence of prowlers on his property overnight.

9:41 a.m., Groveland area — A caller said three vehicles were parked near Cherry Lake Dam spillway and the water was getting close to the vehicles. Before the cars could be towed out of the way, the owners removed them.

10:01 a.m., Mi-Wuk Village — A man said his car parked on the 20000 block of Chief Fuller Way was vandalized.

10:03 a.m., Mi-Wuk Village — A woman said a crowbar was used to smash a back window of her car parked on the 20600 block of Chief Fuller Way.

10:08 a.m., Mi-Wuk Village — A man said a rear window of his car was smashed. The car was parked on the 20600 block of Chief Fuller Way.

10:22 a.m., Jamestown area — A disabled boat was towed by the sheriff's boat patrol from Green Springs to Poker Flat.

10:26 a.m., Jamestown — A patio-furniture set valued at $120 was stolen from a business, Upscale Nails, on the 18200 block of Smoke Street.

12:36 p.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 10600 block of Campo Seco Road said a man is parked in front of her house in an orange pickup, making obscene gestures.

1:17 p.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 18000 block of Smoke Street said another woman was calling around to restaurants and ordering food to be delivered in the first woman's name.

1:42 p.m., Moccasin — No one was injured in a boat accident on Don Pedro Reservoir.

3:07 p.m., Pinecrest — A woman said a chain saw, belt sander, fins and snorkling equipment, fishing rods, liquor and a CD player were stolen from a rental cabin on Pinecrest Lake.

3:47 p.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 10300 block of Ninth Street said a handgun was stolen from her house.

10:16 p.m., Twain Harte — A caller said the driver of a white pickup truck was shining a bright light, like a police light, at vehicles on South Fork Road and Little Fuller Road.

10:22 a.m., Mi-Wuk Village — A caller on the 20000 block of Muheli Road said two checks had been stolen from a check book.

Felony bookings

YESTERDAY

3:55 p.m., Sonora — Robert Brian Fraser, 43, 10600 block of Campo Seco Road, Jamestown, booked on a warrant charging him with possessing a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, possessing a deadly weapon and violating probation. Fraser was arrested while in custody on other matters. He remained held without bail this morning.

5:01 p.m., Jamestown — Debra Robin Blodgett, 47, 18400 block of Jamestown Road, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic needle after an arrest at her home. Deputies had a warrant to search Blodgett's house, according to a sheriff's report. She was released after posting $5,000 bail.

5:52 p.m., Jamestown — Garry Gene Smith, 44, 10500 block of Eighth Avenue, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of possessing a destructive device after an arrest at his home.

According to a sheriff's department report, a caller asked deputies to check on Smith's welfare. When deputies arrived, Smith let them into his house. On a coffee table, they said, sat a carbon dioxide cylinder with a fuse coming out of it and a can of black powder in the kitchen.

Smith told deputies he used the device to blow up rocks while gold mining. Smith was arrested because he did not have a permit for the device. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $50,000 bail.

7:51 p.m., Sonora — Steven Michael Sula Jr., 22, 20 block of South Poplar Street, Sonora, booked on a Mariposa County warrant charging him with unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and a misdemeanor charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

A Sonora police report said an officer questioned Sula on South Shepherd Street and discovered the warrants and arrested him. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $15,000 bail.

10:07 p.m., Jamestown — Dustin Leon Miller, 23, 19200 block of Rawhide Road, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sale and misdemeanor resisting arrest after an arrest on Preston Lane.

According to a sheriff's report, a deputy patrolling Jamestown saw Miller, who ran from the deputy. When stopped and searched, Miller had methamphetamine in his pockets, the deputy said.

Miller remained in custody this morning in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Sonora police reports

MONDAY

8:05 a.m., threats — A man at Sonora Community Hospital Birth Center made threats to an anesthesiologist. The man later apologized. He said he was scared when medical staff was treating his wife.

1:19 p.m., suspicious circumstance — An officer checked on a man sleeping on a park bench on South Washington Street.

2:42 p.m., animal complaints — A caller said a dog was locked inside a vehicle parked on South Shepherd Street. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

6:13 p.m., burglary — A house on Snell Street was burglarized through a front window.

8:02 p.m., assist — An officer helped paramedics with a person who was bleeding from a head wound behind the Signature 10 Theaters.

8:49 p.m., assist — An officer helped with a small grass fire on North Washington Street.

Fires

YESTERDAY

9 a.m., Don Pedro area — A Dumpster fire was reported at Blue Oaks Campground on Don Pedro Reservoir. No dollar damage was reported. California Department of Forestry and Tuolumne County Fire Department responded.

6 p.m., south county — A vehicle fire was reported in the driveway of the CDF Green Springs Station on La Grange Road. Damage was estimated at $1,000 to the electrical components of a 1987 Buick Century. Jose Ayala of Los Banos owns the car. CDF responded.

7:10 p.m., Sonora — A 20-by-20-foot vegetation fire was reported at a transient camp near the railroad tracks off Mono Way. No dollar damage was reported. CDF, Tuolumne County Fire Department and Sonora City Fire Department responded.

Sheriff's reports

MONDAY

12:22 p.m., West Point — A house on the 400 block of Sawyer Lane was vandalized.

12:37 p.m., San Andreas — A house on the 2700 block of Vista Verde Drive was vandalized.

3:42 p.m., Valley Springs — A man on the 1300 block of Crown Court said medication was missing from the house.

4:30 p.m., San Andreas — A caller said her deceased husband's Social Security checks had been stolen and cashed for the last seven months.

5:38 p.m., Avery — A garage and shop on the 4200 block of Moran Road was burglarized.

6:40 p.m., San Andreas — A clerk at San Andreas Mini Mart on Highway 49 said a teenager was seen selling something, perhaps alcohol, to others. The clerk asked the teen to leave.

8:17 p.m., San Andreas — A caller said a man wearing a Hawaiian shirt was selling vacuum cleaners on Nielsen Street and was being overzealous.

9:44 p.m., San Andreas — A caller said a man and a woman were fighting on the 500 block of Lewis Avenue. When a deputy arrived, the woman was on the ground, intoxicated.

Felony bookings

YESTERDAY

7:58 p.m., Copperopolis — Joann Martin 47, 1900 block of Independence-Cemetery Drive, Rail Road Flat, booked on suspicion of willful cruelty to a child and misdemeanor drunken driving and driving on a license suspended for a previous drunken-driving conviction. Martin was arrested on O'Byrnes Ferry Road south of Reeds Turnpike.

She remained in custody this morning in lieu of $95,000 bail.

Fires

YESTERDAY

5:15 p.m., Mokelumne Hill area — A 1-acre grass fire was reported on the 4700 block of Buckboard Lane at Old Fogie Lane. Robert and Deborah Gibson of the same address own the property. Damage was estimated at $200. Cause is under investigation. CDF and Mokelumne Hill Fire Protection District responded.

9:30 p.m., Burson area — A vehicle fire was reported on the 3400 block of Fitzgerald Road. Damage was estimated at $10,000 to a 1989 Ford Bronco. Cause is under investigation. The vehicle's owner has the last name Matthews. Foothill Fire Protection District responded.
