Sheriff's reports

MONDAY

9:11 a.m., Standard — A Curtis Creek School employee said a laptop computer was stolen from the principal's office and graffiti was written on a school building.

10:32 a.m., Willow Springs — A Willow Springs man turned in guns to the sheriff's department as required by a temporary restraining order.

1:08 p.m., East Sonora — A man on the 14600 block of Mono Way said mail was stolen from his box.

3:05 p.m., Twain Harte — A caller said a black Jeep Cherokee was parked in front of a house on the 22500 block of Tuolumne Road North. Inside, the occupants were having a fight and a woman was screaming.

3:44 p.m., Groveland — A cemetery worker said a gravestone marker had been damaged with permanent ink. The stone at the grave of a man who died in 1994 had personal messages written on it.

4:59 p.m., Sonora area — A woman on the 12800 block of Chukar Circle said her vehicle was broken into and 15 to 20 CDs were taken.

6:32 p.m., Jamestown — A caller said about 15 teens were cussing, spitting, pushing and smoking outside an apartment on the 10300 block of Preston Lane.

7:28 p.m., Sonora area — A caller said a possibly drunken man was walking down South Washington Street toward Lime Kiln Road wearing a black sweatshirt and red shorts.

9:54 p.m., East Sonora — A caller said an elderly woman has been at the store since 5 p.m. trying to get a ride home from a store in The Junction shopping center. The woman had made several phone calls but no one has come to pick her up.

10:20 p.m., Jamestown — A 31-year-old woman was arrested on misdemeanor warrants at a house on Seventh Street.

10:55 p.m., Jamestown — A woman said a suspicious-looking white car was parked in a restaurant lot on the 18200 block of Highway 108.

11:28 p.m., Jamestown — A man riding a bicycle near Railtown 1897 State Historic Park fled from a sheriff's sergeant trying to talk to him. The man dropped a small black change purse that contained methamphetamine and marijuana. The drugs were destroyed.

Sonora police reports

MONDAY

1:27 a.m., suspicious circumstances — An officer found a dome light on in a vehicle parked at an automobile repair shop on South Washington Street.

2:16 a.m., vandalism — The front windshield of a car parked on Columbia Way was broken in several places.

9:38 a.m., found property — A police detective found an old pillow case with two jewelry boxes and some pieces of jewelry inside on Brookside Place.

1:35 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller said a man took a purse out of a vehicle parked at Sonora Crossroads shopping center.

4:45 p.m., public peace — A caller said a large group of teens associated with a white Toyota pickup truck and an Olds Cutlass car were fighting in Woods Creek Rotary Park.

4:46 p.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in a traffic accident between a postal vehicle and another vehicle that drove off without stopping to check on damage.

6:50 p.m., vandalism — An officer said two men in an older Ford Ranchero were doing "burnouts" near a building at Sonora High School.

10:27 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller said a woman carrying a backpack was checking out trucks parked on Ponderosa Drive.

Felony bookings

YESTERDAY

11:08 p.m., Tuolumne area — Chad Lee Carmichael, 28, 18100 block of Mt. Eaton Road, Tuolumne booked on a warrant charging him with damaging a telephone line and misdemeanor charges of public fighting and failure to appear after a traffic stop and arrest on the 17500 block of Tuolumne Road. He remained held this morning in lieu of $8,000 bail.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Robert Edward Bell, 41, 16200 block of Acorn Drive, Sonora, booked at 12:25 a.m. yesterday after arrest at The Junction shopping center, East Sonora.

Jan Marie Gottschalk, 47, 10900 block of Green Street, Columbia, booked at 10:35 p.m. yesterday after arrest on Columbia College Drive west of Sawmill Flat Road, Columbia. She was also booked on suspicion of driving on a license previously suspended for a drunken driving conviction.

Sheriff's reports

MONDAY

10:17 a.m., Murphys — There was a report of a suspicious mail order to Nigeria on the 400 block of Main Street.

10:24 a.m., Copperopolis — Items were stolen from an unlocked storage shed on the 1300 block of Cheyenne Road.

10:32 a.m., San Andreas — A man and woman were arguing on the 600 block of Mountain Ranch Road.

10:42 a.m., San Andreas — A man and woman were arguing at the Calaveras County Government Center.

11:46 a.m., San Andreas — A forgery report was taken at the office of the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department.

4:50 p.m., Murphys — An 18-month-old was reportedly locked in a parked car on the 1800 block of Lockhart Boulevard.

6:12 p.m., San Andreas — A 12-year-old boy on the 500 block of Marshall Street kicked a parent and a door.

7:46 p.m., Mountain Ranch — A black convertible was reportedly racing up and down the 6100 block of Trout Lane. A caller said the man driving the car was yelling obscenities and harassing the caller.

8:40 p.m., Jenny Lind — A woman on the 11800 block of Main Street said a man with two pitbulls was trespassing on her property.

10:28 p.m., Burson — A caller on the 3300 block of Highway 12 said it was the third night in a row in which a foul odor was in the area.

11:32 p.m., Jenny Lind — A caller on the 8300 block of Penrod Road said someone was pounding on something and yelling.

YESTERDAY

12:21 a.m., Rail Road Flat — A long-haired cow was reportedly in the middle of Rail Road Flat Road.

2:57 a.m., Murphys — An argument was reported on the 200 block of Woodland Drive.
