Sheriff's report

SATURDAY

8:20 a.m., New Melones — A Bureau of Reclamation ranger found a small leather purse containing what might be drugs and drug paraphernalia on the 6800 block of Studhorse Flat Road.

12:38 p.m., Columbia area — A woman said her wallet was stolen from a house on Union Hill Road.

12:43 p.m., Standard — An employee at Sonora Truck Equipment on the 14300 block of Cuesta Court said someone burglarized the business overnight and took tools.

1:33 p.m.,Ponderosa Hills — A woman on the 20500 block of Deerhaven Drive said she found electrical cords and an amplifier at her house that didn't belong to her. She said the house was burglarized last summer and thinks the items might belong to the thieves.

2:50 p.m., Groveland — A man on the 17800 block of Tinnin Road said a neighbor keeps leaving notes in his mailbox about the caller's dogs not being properly cared for. The caller said Tuolumne County Animal Control has been out several times and have said the neighbor's complains are unfounded. The caller asked a deputy to talk to the neighbor.

2:55 p.m., Jamestown — A woman said one of her daughters thought a man was following her at Jamestown Elementary School.

4:04 p.m., East Sonora — An employee of Subway on the 13700 block of Mono Way said the business was burglarized overnight.

4:12 p.m., Twain Harte — A man on the 23300 block of Middle Camp Road said he found a new 18-speed bicycle on a deck. The bike was turned over to the Sheriff's Department.

4:34 p.m., Groveland — A man on the 20400 block of Rock Canyon Way said a lamppost and statues on his property where broken.

5:06 p.m., East Sonora — A woman said a man "tweaking on something" was kicking a See's Candy booth on Highway 108.

5:16 p.m., Cedar Ridge — A man said he and a friend were walking along a water ditch near Kuien Mill Road when a man and a woman with a gun walked up to them and told them to get off their property.

Felony bookings

FRIDAY

10:22 a.m., Sonora — A 23-year-old man, address unknown, booked on a Calaveras County warrant charging him with felony battery after arrest on the 200 block of Greenley Road, Sonora. He was transferred to the Calaveras County Jail where he was held this morning in lieu of $55,000 bail.

10:32 p.m., Jamestown — Richard Russell Butler, 26, 7500 block of Highway 120, Jamestown, booked on a warrant charging him with possessing a controlled substance, failure to appear and violation of probation after arrest on Seco Street and Preston Lane, Jamestown. He was held this morning without bail.

SATURDAY

4:10 a.m., Sonora — James Paul Compani, 39, 1300 block of Laurel Street, San Carlos, booked on a warrant charging him with marijuana cultivation, violation of probation and failure to appear after being transported to the jail from the San Mateo County Jail.

5:05 a.m., Sonora — Connie Leann St. Clair, 42, 10900 block of Mountain. Brow Road, Sonora, booked on a warrant charging her with passing worthless checks, failure to appear and violation of probation after being transported from a San Joaquin County Jail. She was held without bail this morning.

5:25 p.m., Tuolumne — Mitchell Dale Bell, 27, 18600 block of Carter Street, Tuolumne, booked on suspicion of making criminal threats and misdemeanor battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest after arrest at Chestnut and Pine streets, Tuolumne.

According to a sheriff's department report Bell was banging doors, walls and windows at Friends Coffee House. An employee said Bell threatened to kill the owner of the business, and the employee called 911. When deputies arrived they attempted to arrest Bell who refused to get into a patrol car. Three deputies were able to get Bell in handcuffs and into the patrol car, however he reportedly spit of the deputy driving the patrol car.

The deputy then stopped the car and placed a spit mask on Bell, the report said.

Bell remained in custody this morning in lieu of $25,000 bail.

9:15 p.m., Sonora — David Anthony Joslin, 33, 10 block of Columbia Way, Sonora, booked on a state parole hold after arrest on the 10900 block of Green Street, Sonora. He was held without bail this morning.

Kenneth Duane Bujer, 18, 20400 block of Rock Canyon, Groveland, booked at 10:55 p.m. Friday after arrest on Mueller Drive at Second Garrotte, Groveland.

Jan Marie Gottschalk, 45, 20900 block of Jamestown Road, Sonora, booked at 11:28 p.m. Friday after arrest on Shaws Flat Road near Washington Street, Sonora.

Heather Bruse Ashton, 22, 18900 block of Carter Street, Tuolumne, booked at 2:08 a.m. Saturday after arrest on Mono Way, Sonora.

Ace Martin Anderson, 22, 3600 block of Main Street, Vallecito, booked at 2:35 a.m. Saturday after arrest on Highway 49 and North Washington Street, Sonora.

Leo Fernando Vigil, 56, 16300 block of Estralita Drive, Twain Harte, booked at 6:05 a.m. Saturday after arrest on Highway 108 at Phoenix Lake Road.

Don Eugene Kumetat, II, 45, 22400 block of Colorado River Drive, Sonora, booked at 1 a.m. Sunday after arrest on the 22300 block of Highway 108, Confidence.

Charles Paul Dunivan, 55, 20600 block of Lama Tamalin Road, Mi-Wuk Village, booked at 12:07 a.m. today after arrest on Mono Way at Sanguinetti, Sonora.

Sonora police reports

THURSDAY

1:16 a.m., driving under the influence — A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of riding a bicycle under the influence of intoxicants on the 10 block of South Stewart Street.

7:40 a.m., traffic accident — A non-injury crash was reported on the 400 block of North Washington Street.

12:15 p.m., theft — A man said he saw someone steal a dolly from a soft drink delivery truck in front of a business on Stockton Road. The caller said the person was driving a maroon pickup with a white toolbox in back.

1:46 p.m., suspicious circumstances — An unidentified person said a woman was asking for money in or near a business on the 1000 block of Sanguinetti Road.

3:30 p.m., fraudulent activity — An employee at Pak 'n' Save on the 1200 block of Sanguinetti Road said an older man was trying to cash a check. The clerk said the man had previously written a check for $362 on a closed account.

4:59 p.m., fraudulent activity — An unidentified person reported the fraudulent use of a credit card at Corner Gas on the 800 block of Mono Way.

FRIDAY

10:53 a.m., theft — A woman on the 500 block of High Street reported someone entered her home and took cash from a drawer.

1:58 p.m., theft — A man said several items were taken from a friend's car and pawned without his permission at a pawn shop on the 500 block of Stockton Road.

4:49 p.m., lost, found property — An officer was given a woman's lost wallet on the 1200 block of Sanguinetti Road. The officer got in touch with the woman, who picked up the wallet.

6:51 p.m., citizen assist — A man on South Washington Street said "intelligence" had been following him around town.

7:36 p.m., assault — A man said his son was hit by another man on the 400 block of Greenley Road.

8:51 p.m., burglary — A woman reported two men in a parking lot on the 100 block of Hospital Road were trying to break into vehicles.

9:11 p.m., burglary — A man said he left his residence on the 200 block of Sylvan Drive locked, but when he returned, the door was unlocked and DVDs, videos, a video game console and two rifles were missing.

11:08 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A woman on the 100 block of Banner Drive said a large, older man knocked at her door and said he was looking for his granddaughter. The caller said the man looked confused and she had a hard time getting him to leave.

11:39 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A woman said she was supposed to pick up her daughter at the movie theater on the 900 block of Sanguinetti Road. The daughter was not there, and the caller didn't know what to do.

SATURDAY

10:59 a.m., citizen assist — Police helped get a 2-year-old girl out of a locked bathroom on the 300 block of East Pasadena Avenue

12:32 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A man standing on the 200 block of Greenley Road said he was waiting for a ride.

4:06 p.m., animal complaint — A caller on the 200 block of East Pasadena Avenue said an opossum fell out of a tree and had an injured leg. The caller was advised to watch it for a while to see if it could walk. If not, the caller was advised to call back.

4:55 p.m., suspicious circumstances — An employee of Mervyn's on the 1100 block of Sanguinetti Road said four females and two males exchanged money for something in a bag. The group was gone when police arrived.

8:18 p.m., suspicious circumstances — An employee of Mervyn's on the 1100 block of Sanguinetti Road reported seeing three girls stuffing clothing into plastic bags.

9:04 p.m., controlled substances — A caller said 8 to 10 high school students were smoking cigarettes in the back of a business on the 100 block of South Washington Street.

11:41 p.m., public peace — A caller said someone threw a beer bottle at another person in a bar on the 100 block of South Washington Street. When police arrived, they learned that the bottle was dropped, not thrown.

Fires

SUNDAY

3:45 p.m., Sonora — A vehicle fire was reported on the 13700 block of Mono Way. Dollar damage was estimated at $1,500 to the engine and dashboard of a 1992 Jeep Wagoneer. Electrical problems started the fire in the vehicle owned by Chris Olson of Sonora . California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and Tuolumne County Fire Department responded.

THURSDAY

12:46 p.m., Burson — A house on Burson Road near Chardonnay was vandalized.

2:11 p.m., Valley Springs — A employee at Mar-Val Food Stores on the 50 block of Highway 26 said liquor was stolen.

THURSDAY

10:30 a.m., San Andreas — David Lee Brock, 18, 8600 block of North Atlas Road, Hayden, Idaho, booked on a federal warrant charging him with first-degree burglary and criminal conspiracy after an arrest in Calaveras County Superior Court. He remained held this morning without bail.

12:35 p.m., Valley Springs — Bruce Alan McLeister, 40, 19600 block of North Highway 99, Acampo, booked on suspicion of vehicle theft and receiving stolen property after arrest on 30 block of Highway 12, Valley Springs. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $30,000 bail.

Arnett Jonathan Hall, Jr, 53, 18900 block of Crest Avenue, Castro Valley, booked at 8:45 p.m. Saturday after arrest on Rail Road Flat Road west of Swiss Ranch Road.
