Sheriff's reports


8:42 a.m., Sugar Pine — Vandals broke into a vacation home on the 24100 block of Golf Links Drive and did an estimated $1,460 in damage to furniture, appliances and carpets.

9:41 a.m., Groveland area — A chain saw was reported stolen from an unlocked shed on the 9500 block of Priest-Coulterville Road.

10:25 a.m., Sierra Village — A caller said a man hit him outside a home off Highway 108 and then drove off in a small brown pickup truck.

10:34 a.m., Groveland — Several "scruffy subjects" were reported milling around the See's Candy booth at Wayside Park.

10:35 p.m., Phoenix Lake area — A theft was reported on the 244400 block of Lodge Way.

10:42 a.m., Don Pedro — Mail was reported stolen from a box on the 11500 block of La Grange Road.

11 a.m., Phoenix Lake area — A caller asked that deputies make a welfare check on a Waif Mine Road man "who had made numerous calls to a bank and seems delusional."

12:52 p.m., East Sonora — A woman was reported "looking for a bus stop and asking people to buy things for her" at Highway 108 and Hess Avenue.

1:05 p.m., Jamestown — "A possible overdose" was reported on the 18100 block of Seventh Avenue.

1:53 p.m., Soulsbyville — An ankle brace was reported stolen from the 21200 block of Oman Drive.

2:33 p.m., Wards Ferry area — Prescription medication was reported stolen from a home on the 18300 block of Wards Ferry Road.

3:36 p.m., Mi-Wuk Village —"A girl screaming and someone slamming a door" was reported on the 20600 block of Chief Fuller Way.

5:55 p.m., Sonora Meadows — A caller on the 16500 block of Creekside Drive said "a juvenile broke off part of her fence."

6:26 p.m., East Sonora — A woman reported that her car was vandalized while parked at The Junction shopping center.

6:26 p.m., Pine Mountain Lake —A 9-year-old girl called from the 21000 block of Hemlock Street to report that her mother left her to go to Sonora and "she was scared."

6:30 p.m., Jamestown — Two callers from the 18100 block of Sixth Avenue reported that a man in an "rust primer old-style Willys Jeep" was chasing neighborhood kids "and spitting at them."

6:48 p.m., Columbia area — A caller from the 24100 block of Italian Bar Road reported dirt bikers on his property.

8:08 p.m., Big Hill area — Someone was seen climbing through the window of a vacant rental mobile home on the 13700 block of Big Hill Road.

8:19 p.m., Race Track area — A cord of oak firewood valued at $250 was reported stolen from property on the 11400 block of Racetrack Road.

Felony bookings


9:35 a.m., Sonora — Lydia Carolyn English, 47, 100 block of East Columbia Way, Sonora, booked on suspicion of forgery and misdemeanor theft after arrest at her home by Sonora police. She remained in custody this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

11:14 a.m., Western Tuolumne County — Sithivong Sam Southida, 39, 100 block of Timely Terrace, San Diego, booked on a warrant charging him with passing worthless checks, failure to appear and violation of probation after arrest on Highway 108 and Turlock Road by Oakdale Police. He was transported to Tuolumne County for booking, cited and released.


Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

John Joseph McGowan, 31, 400 block of Pinecrest Lake Drive, Pinecrest, booked at 9:40 p.m. yesterday after arrest on Highway 120 at Green Springs Road.

Jesse Lee Soutter, 24, 10700 block of Seventh Street, Jamestown, booked at 1:20 a.m. today after arrest on Tuolumne Road and Mono Way, East Sonora.

Sonora police reports


4:07 p.m., burglary — A 16-year-old boy was cited on suspicion of burglary and being a minor in possession of alcohol. He was released to a parent. A police report said that the boy tried to steal a bottle of alcohol from Save Mart on Stockton Road. He was held by a store employee until an officer arrived.

9:02 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A woman reported an undisclosed incident on West Bradford Avenue.

2:15 p.m., Sonora — The Sonora Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle fire on the 100 block of Stockton Road that turned out to be steam spitting from the engine compartment of a vehicle driven by Tammy Chavez of Cold Springs.


Sheriff's reports


7:37 a.m., Valley Springs — A man said a woman in a Jeep tried to hit his wife and her friend as they were sitting on the curb in front of her residence in the Castlerock Mobile Home Park on the 200 block of Highway 12.

8:35 a.m., Valley Springs — A caller on the 6600 block of Garner Place reported the theft of equipment and said someone tried to pay the caller to physically harm another person.

9:12 a.m., Mountain Ranch — A man on the 6500 block of Railroad Flat Road said his residential burglary alarm sounded during the night. He looked out the window then and did not see anything suspicious, but he found a broken window the following morning.

10:57 a.m., Copperopolis — A caller on the 4900 block of Lakeshore Drive said tires were slashed on a pickup at around 4 a.m. on March 17.

9:59 p.m., Valley Springs — A caller said a man swerved his car toward children as they walked on the road, yelling "shoot them."

Eric Charles Knopp, 26, of the 8300 block of Hedgepeth Street in Valley Springs, booked at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday after arrest on Highway 26 at Nobe Road, Valley Springs.

Jose Abraham Delgadillo, 22, of Walnut Creek, booked at 2:55 a.m. yesterday after arrest on Highway 4 west of Little John Road, Copperopolis.
