According to a sheriff's report, a woman on the 21400 block of Phoenix Lake Road said there was a man in a long poncho jacket walking behind her house. Two deputies arrived and one saw a man running down Phoenix Lake Road and stopped him.
The man refused to open his hand to show the deputy what he was holding, so the deputy sprayed him with pepper spray. Searching the man, the deputy found a screwdriver, methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe, along with a car stereo, CD, a flashlight and a key to a Volkswagen.
Because the man, later identified as Martin, had bleeding knees from the scuffle with the deputy, he was taken to Tuolumne General Hospital for treatment.

According to a sheriff's report, Boling went to Gary Reichle's house on the 22400 block of Scenic Drive about 9:30 a.m. Thursday to sell his truck. Reichle said that when Boling got there, he said $500 was not enough for his truck and demanded more.
After the two talked for about a minute, Boling pulled a tire iron out of his jacket an hit Reichle on the forehead, knocking the 55-year-old Reichle to his knees, the report said.
While Reichle was on the ground, Boling kicked him in the chest and struck him 10 to 15 more times on the head with the tire iron, Reichle told investigators.
The sheriff's report says Boling pulled out a utility knife and threatened to kill Reichle if he didn't give him money. Reichle told deputies that he gave Boling $500 and Boling left, and Reichle passed out. An hour later a friend came by, called 911 and took Reichle to Tuolumne General Hospital for treatment.
Saturday morning, sheriff's reports say, Boling went to Money Mart in The Junction Shopping center and tried to cash a check for $185.20 written to him on Reichle's account. The clerk became suspicious about the check, phoned Reichle's house and reached a sheriff's investigator who was talking with Reichle about the assault. Reichle said his signature on the check was forged. Though Boling left the Money Mart, he was stopped a short distance away and arrested.
Boling remained held this morning in lieu of $100,000 bail.
