Sheriff's reports

MONDAY

6:06 a.m., East Sonora — A caller said Heron's Manufacturing on the 18900 block of Hess Avenue was burglarized when someone broke a front window. An undisclosed amount of money was stolen from a petty-cash drawer.

9:16 a.m., Jamestown — A caller on the 18000 block of Rawhide Road said someone used her identity between 2000 and 2002 and ran up bills, which has harmed her credit.

10:27 a.m., Twain Harte — A caller said a dog was locked inside a vehicle parked on the 23000 block of Joaquin Gully Road while the owner was inside a bar. The car was gone when a deputy arrived.

10:31 a.m., Jamestown — A man said he drove past a vacant house on the 11000 block of Golf Links Road and there was a strange car parked in the driveway.

10:33 a.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 17000 block of Black Bart Drive said her garage was burglarized about two nights ago.

10:39 a.m., Twain Harte — A Twain Harte Pharmacy employee said a man in his early 20s stole a bottle of prescription medicine.

11:05 a.m., Standard area — A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery after fighting at their house on Serrano Road.

11:33 a.m., Phoenix Lake — A man said a telephone was stolen from his house on the 19000 block of Phoenix Lake Road. The man said the company from which he bought the phone said it was delivered to his house, but he never received the phone and thinks it was stolen.

3:31 p.m., Columbia — A woman on the 11000 block of State Street said gasoline had been siphoned from her vehicle. She said this has happened twice before.

6:53 p.m., Big Hill area — People target shooting at an old quarry on Big Hill Road were told it was against a county ordinance to shoot so close to the road. They were cooperative and left.

7:30 p.m., Groveland — A woman on the 11000 block of Yosemite Springs Road said a saddle was stolen.

9:01 p.m., Tuolumne area — A 24-year-old woman was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant from Contra Costa County after causing a disturbance on the 19600 block of Mi-Wuk Street.

9:32 p.m., Jamestown — A caller said a woman was inside a bathroom at Rocca Park screaming and yelling.

10 p.m., Jamestown area — A woman said a car has been parked on Shell Road for five days.

10:38 p.m., Pinecrest area — A 40-year-old Tracy woman and her 12- and 7-year-old sons were reported missing when they failed to return from a game of hide-and-seek. Two search-and-rescue volunteers and two deputies found the trio about 6 a.m. yesterday, almost half a mile from their Eagle Meadows Campground.

The woman said when they got disoriented, she decided to stay put and made a campfire and slept until the rescuers found them.

YESTERDAY

5:06 a.m., Twain Harte — A woman on the 18800 block of Broadhurst Avenue said a bear was in her yard eating her garbage.

Felony bookings

YESTERDAY

9:15 p.m., Dodge Ridge — Jason McLean Sewart, 23, 1200 block of Raintree Court, Roseville, booked on suspicion of criminal threats and making threats with a firearm after an arrest at Dodge Ridge Ski Resort parking lot.

According to a sheriff's department report, Sewart pointed a loaded AR-15 military-type rifle at Richard Bettis, 67, of Sacramento after Bettis had an argument with Sewart's mother about 11 a.m. yesterday.

The family and Bettis were staying at Dodge Ridge Lodge House when the argument occurred. Sewart's uncle, John Sewart, said Jason Sewart walked up to Bettis after the argument, pointed the rifle at the man and told him to "get on your knees." Bettis stumbled and fell backwards and Jason Sewart put the rifle to the man's temple.

John Sewart talked Jason into not harming Bettis and Jason Sewart put the rifle away. Later in the day, Sewart's aunt called 911 and told dispatcher about the incident and said her nephew was suicidal. Deputies found Sewart in the ski resort parking lot and arrested him.

He remains in custody this morning in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Fire

MONDAY

2:15 a.m., Jamestown area — A small spot fire was reported off Highway 108. The fire was caused when an axle came off a 1990 Chevrolet Suburban. No dollar damage was reported. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne County Fire Department and Jamestown Fire Protection District responded.

Sonora police reports

MONDAY

8:21 a.m., traffic accidents — The driver of a big rig truck hit a stop sign on South Washington Street.

2:49 p.m., found property — A woman found a cell phone underneath a bench in Court House Park on North Washington Street.

5:28 p.m., traffic violations — A 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended drivers license after a traffic stop on the 80 block of South Stewart Street.

8:11 p.m., animal complaints — A woman on the 100 block of McCormick Drive said she found, in her back yard, a dead cat that had been shot.

CALAVERAS COUNTY

MONDAY

7:05 a.m., Valley Springs — Lumber was stolen and windows broken at a house under construction on the 2200 block of Lake View Circle.

8:34 a.m., Glencoe — A house on the 100 block of Blackberry Draw Road was burglarized.

9:19 a.m., Murphys — A caller said graffiti was written and beer bottles smashed at Michelson Elementary School.

9:31 a.m., Mountain Ranch — A fence was vandalized during a neighborhood dispute on Rimrock Valley Road.

1:22 p.m., Copperopolis — During an argument on the 1200 block of Cheyenne, one person was hit in the leg with a vehicle but was not injured.

2:54 p.m., San Andreas — A caller said people in Turner Park had a 12-pack of beer, a violation of a park ordinance.

2:55 p.m., Copperopolis — A house on the 2900 block of Beaver Road was burglarized.

7:58 p.m., Valley Springs — A man brandishing a knife on the 2400 block of South Petersburg Road was arrested on misdemeanor charges.

Arrested

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs:

Seth Allan Alderson, 18, 3000 block of Parrots Ferry Road, Vallecito, booked at 4:50 a.m. Monday after his arrest on Highway 4 in Angels Camp.

Fire

MONDAY

4 p.m., Copperopolis area — A 3-acre grass fire was reported on the 5000 block of Stagecoach Road. Damage was estimated at $1,000 to rangeland and a power pole. The fire was caused by a dozer that was putting a line around the property. Anthony Ganji of the same address owns the property. CDF, Copperopolis Fire Protection District, two crews from Vallecito Conservation Camp, two air tankers, one helicopter, and one air attack from Columbia Air Base responded.
