Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

6:14 a.m., Jamestown — A woman said while she was sleeping in her car parked on the 18300 block of Highway 108, someone reached in through a broken window and stole her purse, a wallet and the keys to her car.

6:22 a.m., Lambert Lake area — A man said water lines on Lambert Lake Road had been vandalized.

8:08 a.m., Twain Harte — A woman said her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle parked in front of her boyfriend's house on Sierra Pine Avenue.

9:17 a.m., Tuolumne — A man said three of his corrals on Cottonwood Road had been vandalized within the last week.

9:18 a.m., Columbia — A man said his house on the 22000 block of Cedar Crest Road was burglarized.

10:41 a.m., Cold Springs — A Fraser Flat Campground host said men who were being rowdy Sunday night were again rowdy and disruptive Monday night. The host asked the men to leave and they refused, so a sheriff's deputy and a U.S. Forest Service ranger went to talk to them.

1:50 p.m., Twain Harte — A caller said a man and a woman on Golf Club Drive had been yelling at each other for more than an hour.

2:33 p.m., Pinecrest — A Forest Service employee said campers who were evicted earlier were now back at the Meadow View Campground.

3:25 p.m., East Sonora — A woman said she left a daily planning book in the restroom at a store in The Junction shopping center.

4:18 p.m., Twain Harte — A man on the 23600 block of Highway 108 said his fifth-wheel trailer was broken into over the weekend.

8:19 p.m., Sonora area — A caller said a man driving a green pickup with a different-colored driver's door kept going by the caller's house on Shaws Flat Road looking at her children in the yard.

WEDNESDAY

2:35 a.m., Sonora Meadows — A man on the 16000 block of Sallander Drive said a truck windshield had been broken either by a BB or pellet gun.

Felony bookings

TUESDAY

11:16 a.m., Twain Harte — Oscar Larry Payne, 43, 1000 block of Douglas Drive, San Leandro, booked on a state parole hold after an arrest on the 22700 block of Twain Harte Drive. Payne was taken into custody by state prison officials

2:07 p.m., Sonora area — Lisa Julianna Engle, 27, 18300 block of Hatler Drive, Sonora, booked on warrants charging her with receiving stolen property, grand theft, contempt of court and failure to appear after she turned herself in at the jail.

She remained held this morning in lieu of $20,000 bail.

YESTERDAY

1:40 a.m., Standard area — Jerry Frank Cress, 24, 18000 block of Seco Street, Jamestown, and Elizabeth Jean Myers, 18, 10 block of East Columbia Way, Sonora, both booked on suspicion of vehicle theft, receiving stolen property and possessing a controlled substance, after an arrest on Tuolumne Road at Cuesta Court.

According to a sheriff's report, a deputy saw a car matching the description of one stolen from Sonora and followed it onto Hess Avenue from Highway 108. The driver of the car, later identified as Cress, sped away, going about 75 mph. Deputy Jerry McCaig was able to stop the car on Tuolumne Road at Cuesta Court. Other deputies helped arrest Cress and his passenger, Myers.

During a search, deputies found methamphetamine in Myers wallet and in a glass smoking pipe.

During the chase, sheriff's dispatchers confirmed the license plate matched the car that was stolen.

Cress was released yesterday after posting $10,000 bail. Myers remained held this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Miguel Higareda Orozco, 36, 1000 block of Gerald, Merced, booked at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday after arrest on Highway 108 at O'Byrnes Ferry Road, Jamestown area.

Sonora police reports

TUESDAY

12:36 a.m., disorderly conduct — A caller said people in the park on Greenley Road were being really loud.

11:43 a.m., traffic accident — An officer took a report about a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot at Timberhills shopping center.

11:46 a.m., traffic accident — A vehicle parked at Wal-Mart, which did not have its parking brake on, rolled out of its space and into another vehicle.

3:53 p.m., theft — A fanny pack was stolen out of a car parked on South Stewart Street.

6:27 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller said three people were trying to break into a house on Truckenmiller Road.

8:29 p.m., hazardous situation — A gray pickup was parked at the corner of South Barretta and East Lyons streets, blocking traffic.

10:30 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller said people with flashlights were in the Sonora High School bus barn on Shaws Flat Road.

CALAVERAS COUNTY

Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

2:34 p.m., San Andreas — A caller on the 300 block of Neilsen Street said someone stole a newspaper from a mailbox.

8:34 p.m., Camanche — A man and a woman riding on a motorcycle drove past the gate at Lake Camanche without paying. A deputy found them and escorted them back to the gate, where they paid the entry fee.

TUESDAY

10:28 a.m., San Andreas — Tony Robert Flores, 42, 1500 block of Kooser Road, San Jose, booked on suspicion of possessing controlled substances, driving with a suspended license and probation violation after his arrest on Highway 4 and Pool Station Road. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $48,000 bail.

12:25 p.m., San Andreas — William Mason Heinle, 19, 4000 block of French Gulch Road, Angels Camp, booked by a court order on suspicion of cultivating marijuana. He has been released.

4:30 p.m., San Andreas — Randy Veldon Powers, 52, 3000 block of Dogwood Patch Lane, Railroad Flat, booked on suspicion of drug possession after he turned himself in. He has been released.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Lynn Diane Weber, 57, 5000 block of East Cherokee Road, Stockton, booked by a court order at 2:11 p.m., Wednesday.

Fire

TUESDAY

12:28 p.m., Phoenix Lake — A half-acre grass fire was reported near Phoenix Lake dam off Resort Road. Landowner and damage are undetermined. Cause is under investigation. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne County Fire Department, one crew from Baseline Conservation Camp, Sonora City Fire Department, two air tankers and one helicopter from Columbia Air Base responded.
