Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

10:04 a.m., Mi-Wuk Village — A man on the 20700 block of Lama Teumete said his house was broken into.

11:08 a.m., Sonora area — A deputy killed a rattlesnake at a house on 21100 block of Old Sonora Columbia Road after the homeowner called from out of town to say his children found the snake and didn't know what to do.

11:13 a.m., Twain Harte — A woman said a mountain lion was asleep in a tree near her neighbor's house. The woman was referred to the state Fish and Game Department.

11:23 a.m., Standard area — A fence was cut and waterers were pulled out of plants at Solomon Gardens on the 18000 block of Blue Bell East.

1:35 p.m., Mormon Creek area — A woman on the 9500 block of Highway 49 said her garage was broken into and a tent stolen.

2:07 p.m., Jamestown — A man at Crown Auto and RV Parts on the 18300 block of Highway 108 said he received two forged checks from one man.

3:06 p.m., Long Barn — A man said two teens were throwing firecrackers out of a green Ford Ranger pickup truck. A deputy stopped the teens but found no fireworks.

3:50 p.m., Sonora Meadows — A caller said five teens were behind a swimming pool building on Creekside Drive with alcohol. One 13-year-old boy was cited.

3:59 p.m., Mono Village area — A caller said three men were throwing rocks through windows of a condemned building on the Mono Way near Standard Road.

5:35 p.m., Sugar Pine — A woman on the 24000 block of Pine Lake Drive said someone broke into her garage overnight.

5:36 p.m., Standard — A woman at Mother Lode Storage on the 15000 block of Camage Way said a man driving a tan truck with a camper shell on top tried to get inside the storage facility after it was closed by jumping the fence. The woman chased him off, but he said he would return at night.

6:02 p.m., Jamestown — A man said two roto-hammers were stolen out of his pickup truck parked on the 18100 block of Main Street.

7:38 p.m., Tuolumne — A Wayne's Mini Mart clerk said he received a counterfeit $10 bill at the store on the 18300 block of Tuolumne Road.

7:47 p.m., Soulsbyville area — A man on the 20700 block of Sunshine Road said a propane tank was stolen from his yard.

8:29 p.m., Jamestown — A caller said two men were sitting in Rocca Park smoking, drinking and throwing bottles at a wall. Both men were jailed on suspicion of public intoxication.

YESTERDAY

1:37 a.m., East Sonora — A sheriff's sergeant stopped a vehicle on Hess Avenue near Phoenix Lake Road that had been reported stolen. A California Highway Patrol officer took a report.

4:38 a.m., Twain Harte — A caller said a man driving an off-white sedan drove around Fuller Road near Golf Club Drive four times during the night.

TUESDAY

2:49 p.m., Sonora — Paul Eugene Brownell Jr., 22, 10300 block of Preston Lane, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, receiving stolen property and misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic needle after an arrest during a traffic stop on Shepherd Street at Lyons Street, Sonora. Brownell remained held this morning in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Arrests

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Gerald Henry James, 64, 1000 block of Highway 49, Sonora, booked at 10:18 p.m. Tuesday after arrest on Highway 49 near Springfield Road, Columbia.

Alton Ray Griffith, 67, 1000 block of South Avenue, Modesto, booked at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday after arrest on Highway 108 at Rawhide Road, Jamestown.

Sonora police reports

TUESDAY

8:28 a.m., theft — A woman on the 600 block of North Arbona Circle said two potted plants were stolen from her yard.

8:42 a.m., animal complaints — A woman found two kittens under a bus on Summit Avenue with a can of cat food nearby. She requested a cat trap.

8:54 a.m., theft — A woman said her backpack was taken from her unlocked car on the South Forest Road.

10:19 a.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in an accident on the 400 block of Highway 49.

11:33 a.m., vandalism — A caller on Sanguinetti Road said a man kicked the caller's vehicle twice, damaging it.

12:22 p.m., theft — A caller found items that had been stolen from the caller at a South Washington Street pawn shop.

4:10 p.m., theft — A caller said two potted plants and a hose were stolen from a house on the 600 block of Arbona Circle.

6:03 p.m.,traffic accident — No one was injured in a traffic accident on the 1200 block of Mono Way.

10:47 p.m., public intoxication — A 66-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication on the 100 block of South Washington Street.

Fires

YESTERDAY

8:26 p.m., Red Hills area — A vehicle fire was reported on Enterprise Drive. The vehicle was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. Owner's name and vehicle make and model were unavailable. One engine from California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection extinguished the flames.

TUESDAY

9:12 a.m., Milton — Items were stolen from a house on the 10100 block of Rock Creek Road.

9:12 a.m., Valley Springs — A mother on the 300 block of East Sequoia Avenue wanted advice on her unruly son.

9:44 a.m., Arnold — A man on the 2600 block of Black Oak Drive said he thought someone was in his house.

10:09 a.m., Valley Springs — Construction materials were stolen from the 2400 block of Highway 26.

4:01 p.m., Valley Springs — Two men were fighting on the 200 block of Pine Street.

6:18 p.m., Arnold — A caller's daughter changed the locks on her door and cut the phone wires at a house on the 1600 block of Meadowview Road.

7:10 p.m., Valley Springs — Solar lights were stolen from a walkway on the 2300 block of Meadowood Drive.

8:24 p.m., Wallace — A person was throwing beer cans out of a window on Highway 12.

10:14 p.m., San Andreas — A suspicious vehicle was reportedly parked between the town hall and Masonic hall.

10:54 p.m., San Andreas — Callers from three houses on the 300 block of Toyon Court reported an argument between a man and woman.

Felony bookings

YESTERDAY

2:45 p.m., San Andreas — Dale Emery Saunders, 40, 36000 block of Niles Boulevard, Fremont, booked on suspicion of receiving stolen property and committing grand theft. Saunders remained in custody this morning at the Calaveras County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.

9:40 p.m., Angels Camp — Scott Aurther Emerson, 45, 2400 block of Skunk Ranch Road, Murphys, booked on suspicion of possessing drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol. Emerson was arrested at the intersection of North Main Street and Highway 4 in Angels Camp. As of this morning, he remained in custody at the Calaveras County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
