TUOLUMNE COUNTY

Sheriff's report

THURSDAY

8:20 a.m., Tuolumne — A caller on the 18700 block of Carter Street said a woman who is sometimes belligerent broke a fence and a chair at the house.

9:43 a.m., East Sonora — An employee at Sonora Insurance Agency on the 14700 block of Mono Way said a woman was in the office acting strangely, saying she had bumps coming out of her arms.

10:42 a.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 17200 block of Margaret Drive said a man came to the house and tried to force his way in.

11:40 a.m., Standard area — A woman said while she and her husband were driving on Tuolumne Road, someone either threw a rock or shot their window with a BB gun.

5:29 p.m., Don Pedro Reservoir — A teenager was treated at Sonora Community Hospital for a broken arm suffered in a personal watercraft accident.

8:30 p.m., Twain Harte — A caller said three teenage boys were in front of the 7-Eleven store on the 22900 block of Joaquin Gully Road, harassing a man and calling him names. The caller said the same three teens were seen the night before, pounding on the store windows.

8:54 p.m., Twain Harte area — A caller said two children were walking through a mobile home park on the 16000 block of Big Hill Road and were approached by a man who showed them a rifle and a handgun.

9:23 p.m., Twain Harte — An employee at a store on the 18600 block of Mother Lode Drive said a woman came into the store and said she had been beaten up by a man, and might have a broken nose. The employee said the woman was covered in blood. A deputy questioned the man who might have beat the woman. He said the woman came to his house and caused a disturbance but denied beating her up.

11:27 p.m., Twain Harte — A 7-Eleven clerk said three or four teens were parked behind the store and was concerned they were soliciting customers to buy them alcohol.

11:50 p.m., Greenley Road area — Skateboarders in the parking lot at the Forest Service administration office on Greenley Road were asked to leave.

FRIDAY

1:38 a.m., Pinecrest — A 41-year-old Danville man camping at Pinecrest Lake said he was approached by three men who demanded money. When he told them to go away, they hit him in the face.

9:57 a.m., Twain Harte — A woman at a business on the 22500 block of Twain Harte Drive said she found a small ice chest and a small pack on top of an air conditioning unit. She had not touched the items and was concerned after the pipe bomb explosion at the Twain Harte Post Office.

12:03 p.m., Groveland — A man on the 31800 block of Highway 120 said a woman tried to run over him with her car.

2:48 p.m., Sonora — A man on Lambert Lake Road said a truck peeled out in front of him on a gravel road, causing a rock to fly up and hit him in the head.

2:54 p.m., Pinecrest — A woman at the Pinecrest Marina said some kids in a boat were circling her 16-year-old daughter. When the kids were asked by the girl's father to leave, they started throwing beer bottles.

3:18 p.m., Tuolumne — A caller on the 18400 block of Tuolumne Road reported finding a sexually graphic letter sent to her 16-year-old daughter from an inmate incarcerated in San Joaquin County.

6:07 p.m., Mi-Wuk Village — A caller on the 20600 block of Haiapo Road said he found a man with a "dirty" appearance sleeping on his porch.

6:17 p.m., Tuttletown — A woman on Reynolds Ferry Road said a street sign was stolen.

6:23 p.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 10300 block of Preston Lane said she found a butcher knife in a pot outside her door.

7:06 p.m., East Sonora — A woman reported seeing another woman beat a young child on the 13700 block of Mono Way and then throw the child into the back seat of a sport utility vehicle.

10:21 p.m., Twain Harte — A caller said a man had been stabbed outside a bar in either Twain Harte or Sierra Village.

SATURDAY

2:01 a.m., Sonora area — A woman on the 12000 block of Columbia College Drive said someone just threw a flashlight at her.

2:47 a.m., Jamestown — A woman said a man she did not know came to her house on the 10700 block of Seventh Street and asked her to help him move his things from a storage shed in her yard. After she declined, the man began to bang on her windows.

12:44 p.m., Columbia — A woman said someone in a black pickup near her home on the 22400 block of Gravel Mine Road was watching a fire in Calaveras County. The vehicle shows up every time there is a fire, she said.

12:55 p.m., Twain Harte — A man said there was a fight involving two or three people in a parking lot on the 18700 block of Tiffeni Drive. A second man called in to report he was assaulted there by two men while he was picking up his pizza.

12:56 p.m., Columbia — A woman on Parrots Ferry Road said someone took a crowbar to a soda machine and possibly took some money.

1:01 p.m., Sonora area — A man on the 20400 block of Brook Drive said some fired a pellet gun at his door.

3:10 p.m., Jamestown — A caller said a mail carrier found a paper bag with what appeared to be a flashlight under mailboxes near the intersection of Rimrock and Rawhide road. The carrier was not comfortable checking the bag because of the bombing at the Twain Harte post office, the caller said.

3:55 p.m., Sonora area — A man reported his wallet was stolen while he worked out at a fitness center on the 19400 block of Susan Way.

6:48 p.m., Sonora area — A woman said a diamond ring and $2,000 in cash was stolen from Beauty Nails in the Crossroads Shopping Center on Wednesday.

7:28 p.m., Jamestown — A woman called to complain that a man at Tulloch Reservoir refused to rent a boat to her and her boyfriend because he said they "looked poor."

10:04 p.m., Groveland — A security agency reported that someone threw a firecracker from a car near the intersection of Elder Lane and Pine Mountain Drive.

SUNDAY

6:40 a.m., Cold Springs — A man on the 25400 block of Bambi Lane said he returned to his home from a neighbor's house and found his television had been unplugged and his VCR was on the floor. His car keys were also in a different place. Nothing had been taken, he said.

8:43 a.m., Twain Harte — A woman on the 19800 block of Sunset Drive said someone damaged a statue and lights on her property.

Felony bookings

THURSDAY

7:20 p.m., Jamestown — John Allen Herrera, 45, 17300 block of Highway 108, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of felony vandalism, being a felon possessing a firearm, receiving stolen property and evading a peace officer. He was also booked on misdemeanor charges of misdemeanor speeding and driving with a suspended license after an arrest on Highway 108 near Jamestown Road.

A sheriff's deputy reported seeing a car driven by Herrera speeding on Highway 49 near Chinese Camp. When the deputy tried to pull the car over, the driver waved at the deputy. Both cars were going about 90 mph.

When Herrera reached Highway 108 and headed east, he slowed to 65 mph but continued to wave at the deputy even though the deputy had his sirens and lights on, the report said.

Herrera turned into a driveway on the 17300 block of Highway 108, stopped, then rammed into a chain suspended over the driveway between two posts. Herrera refused to cooperate with the deputy until he was pepper-sprayed, the report said. Once Herrera was inside the patrol car, deputies searched his car and found a .9 mm semi-automatic handgun and more than 150 rounds of ammunition. While the deputies were searching the car, Herrera kicked out the back window of a patrol car.

He remained held this morning in lieu of $15,000 bail.

11:22 p.m., Jamestown — Lee Russell Hayes, 24, 22500 block of Colorado River Drive, Sonora, booked on a warrant charging him with possessing a deadly weapon, failure to appear and violating probation after an arrest on Highway 108 at Golf Links Road. Hayes was stopped for a traffic violation and a deputy discovered the warrant. He was released for work release and required to report to a probation officer.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Robert Joseph Montano, 30, 14900 block of Los Robles Lane, Sonora, booked at 2:35 a.m. Friday after arrest on Highway 108 at Leisure Drive.

Bryan Thomas Steiger, 25, 14300 block of Edgemont Acres Road, Sonora, booked at 3:10 a.m. Friday after arrest on Highway 108 at The Junction shopping center.

Fires

THURSDAY

1 p.m., Tuolumne — A fire was reported at an unspecified address on Oak Street. Children playing with matches started the flames, officials said. Damage estimates were not available. Tuolumne Fire Protection District and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection responded.

Sonora police reports

THURSDAY

6:21 a.m., trespassing — A woman causing a disturbance in the Tuolumne General Hospital emergency room was asked to leave.

8:26 a.m., traffic accident — No one was injured, but a man said his pickup accidentally rolled into his estranged wife's car while it was parked at her boyfriend's house on the 100 block of West Bradford Street.

8:37 a.m., animal complaints — A small, multi-colored terrier bit someone on the right ear on the 1200 block of Sanguinetti Road.

8:40 a.m., animal complaints — A man on the 200 block of East Jackson Street said he was bitten on the right thumb while trying to break up a fight between his dog and a neighbor's dog.

6:41 p.m., public fight — A caller said a man and a woman were fighting while the two were seen driving west on Lyons Street.

8:27 p.m., public fight — A caller said a large gang was fighting in Rotary Park on Woods Creek Drive.

8:35 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A woman on the 600 block of Shaws Flat Road said she was spit on and wanted to make a report.

FRIDAY

12:39 a.m., vandalism — Police were told someone had slashed the tires of a black Toyota Tacoma pickup on South Forest Road.

2:38 p.m., vehicle theft — A blue Nissan Sentra was reported stolen from an undisclosed location on Sanguinetti Road.

4:27 p.m., traffic accident — A diesel big rig hit a parked vehicle on South Washington Street. No one was injured.

5:41 p.m., vandalism — Police were told a passenger in a sport utility vehicle traveling west on Morning Star Drive threw a rock at another car's windshield.

11:22 p.m., theft — A juvenile was arrested for shoplifting at Wal-Mart on Sanguinetti Road.

SATURDAY

12:49 a.m., disorderly conduct — A fight involving six people was reported on the 100 block of South Washington Street.

1:31 a.m., suspicious circumstance — A caller on the 400 block of North Arbona Circle said a prowler wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt and a mask was on the back deck.

2:26 a.m., public intoxication — A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication behind a restaurant on the 100 block of South Washington Street.

2:12 p.m., traffic accident — A Toyota Celica and a pickup were involved in an accident on the 800 block of Sanguinetti Road.

2:58 p.m., suspicious circumstance — A woman on the first block of Hope Lane said she found a kitten with food and water left in her kitchen when she returned home. The house was locked when she left and the woman did not know how someone was able to get inside.

4:18 p.m., traffic violation — A 38-year-old man was cited for driving with an expired drivers license on Southgate Drive.

5:09 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A woman said her vehicle was broken into on North Green Street while she was at work.

8:36 p.m., assault — A woman said another woman sprayed her in the face with window cleaner and shoved her friend on the 300 block of North Washington Street.

10:50 p.m., suspicious circumstance — A man said he came to pick up something at his office on the 900 block of Sylva Lane and found a steam roller was running and a backhoe was parked in a different location than it was left in.

SUNDAY

12 a.m., public intoxication — A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication on Southgate Drive.

1:26 a.m., public intoxication — A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and marijuana possession on Highway 49.

8:15 a.m., vandalism — A man said someone broke the window of his 1993 Saturn on the 300 block of North Washington.

7:40 a.m., Avery — At Avery Middle School, three outdoor lights were destroyed and the campus was paint-balled.

11:09 a.m., Burson — A woman on the 3000 block of Highway 12 said she had a party at her house last Saturday and later noticed her jewelry box was missing.

FRIDAY

4:17 p.m., Arnold — A woman on the 1700 block of Lightning Lane said her ex-landlord physically assaulted her.

9:57 p.m., Rail Road Flat — A caller said several people were using offensive language and running around after curfew at Lakeside Park.

10:46 p.m., San Andreas — Police were told of a fight involving four men and one woman.

SATURDAY

9:09 a.m., Copperopolis — A traffic accident was reported on the 4700 block of Little John Road.

9:39 a.m., Murphys — A traffic accident was reported on the 200 block of Tom Bell Road.

3:44 p.m., Arnold — A caller said the "peace pole" at White Pines Lake had been cut down.

4:25 p.m., San Andreas — A man on the 5900 block of Hawver Road said he was followed and assaulted by several people.

7:56 p.m., Dorrington — A woman on the 2000 block of Choctaw said her vehicle had been egged and her home was toilet-papered.

Felony bookings

THURSDAY

5:43 p.m., West Point — Roger Brian Gibbings, 34, 900 block of Stanley Road, West Point, booked on a warrant charging him with making a destructive device without a permit and selling or transporting explosives. He was arrested at his home. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $60,000 bail.

11:00 p.m., Valley Springs — William David Mack III, 19, 200 block of Daphne Street, Valley Springs, booked on suspicion of possessing and selling a controlled substance and committing a felony while possessing a firearm. He remained in the county jail this morning with bail set at $60,000.

11:25 p.m., Valley Springs — Patricia Randall, 49, 200 block of Daphne Street, Valley Springs, booked on suspicion of possessing, manufacturing and selling dangerous weapons. He has been released from the county jail.
