Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

7:05 a.m., Wards Ferry Road area — A man said a woman was asleep or passed out in a gray pickup at the end of a driveway on the 16000 block of Wards Ferry Road.

10:01 a.m., Groveland — A man said the See's Candy booth at the Groveland Library was broken into and $2,000 worth of candy was stolen.

10:22 a.m., Wards Ferry Road area — A woman on the 17400 block of Murphy Road said two garbage cans were run over and damaged.

10:57 a.m., East Sonora — A man on the 19300 block of Hillsdale Drive said someone cut two tires on his vehicle. He had them repaired but said they might need to be replaced.

12:21 p.m., Standard — A Curtis Creek School administrator asked for a deputy to talk to a student who was found with drugs at school.

2:27 p.m., Tuolumne — A man on the 20400 block of Skyline Road one of his checks was stolen, altered and forged.

4:52 p.m., East Sonora — A woman said it appeared people were living in bushes behind a fast-food restaurant on the 13700 block of Mono Way.

7:11 p.m., Jamestown — A caller said his mountain bike and DVD player were stolen from a house on Peppermint Creek Road.

11:07 p.m., Columbia — The manager of Columbia Inn Motel on the 22600 block of Broadway Street said two men were fighting in the parking lot — one was armed with a club.

TUESDAY

3:55 p.m., Sonora — Luette Cecilia Berbena, 50, 23000 block of Fuller Road, Twain Harte, booked on a warrant charging her with unlawful use of food stamps and perjury. She was released after posting $10,000 bail.

WEDNESDAY

2:51 p.m., Sonora — Antonio Boy Ruelas, 34, 4900 block of Oregon Street, Long Beach, booked on a warrant charging him with conspiracy to commit a crime. He was transported to the county jail from Sierra Conservation Center. He was released after posting $30,000 bail.

10:28 p.m., Mountain Brow area — Rebecca Nicole Lorainne Hixon, 37, 800 block of West Clover Road, Tracy, booked on a Santa Clara County warrant charging her with embezzlement and grand theft after arrest on the 10500 block of Highway 49.

According to a sheriff's department report, a deputy went to the Highway 49 address on a family disturbance call and a call to the dispatch center turned up the warrant for Hixon's arrest. She was transported to Santa Clara County.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Gary Todd Maddox, 37, 16100 block of Jacksonville Road, Jamestown, booked at 9:30 p.m. yesterday after arrest on Stent Cutoff, west of Algerine, Jamestown.

John Ernest Baca, 41, 9700 block of Carrizo Way, Don Pedro, booked at 12:35 a.m. today after arrest on the 300 block of South Washington Street, Sonora.

Sonora police reports

TUESDAY

7:58 a.m., lost property — A woman said she lost her purse last week at Sonora High School, on the 400 block of North Washington Street.

10:43 a.m., traffic violations — A man said drivers were speeding on East Jackson Street.

11:07 a.m., fraudulent activity — Someone reported the possible fraudulent use of an automatic teller machine at a savings and loan on the 200 block of South Washington Street.

1:50 p.m., traffic accident — A non-injury encounter between a pedestrian and driver was reported in the parking lot of Sonora Elementary School on the 800 block of Greenley Road.

2:06 p.m., hazardous situation — A caller complained that construction work on West Bradford Avenue was causing a hazard.

4:27 p.m., property damage — A woman called 911 and said her former boyfriend became angry and dented her vehicle. An officer spoke with the woman, who did not want to file a report.

5:09 p.m., found property — A hearing aid was found at a business on the 10 block of South Washington Street. It was turned in at the Police Department.

5:32 p.m., reckless driving — A possibly drunken driver was seen on North Washington Street. The caller said the driver nearly ran her off the road.

7:21 p.m., shoplifting arrest — A 16-year-old boy was cited on suspicion of shoplifting and misdemeanor assault at Grocery Outlet on the 600 block of South Washington Street. Police said the boy tried to steal batteries valued at $9.45. The report said he also spit and threw items at a store clerk. The boy was detained at the store until an officer arrived, then was cited and released to a parent.

8:12 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A 911 caller said a man was walking with a flashlight around the Department of Motor Vehicles office on the 800 block of Morning Star Drive.

8:36 p.m., traffic accident — A non-injury crash was reported on the 600 block of Morning Star Drive.

10:38 p.m., fight — A 911 caller reported a physical fight in the parking lot of a business in the Sonora Crossroads shopping center on the 1100 block of Sanguinetti Road. Four young men were cited for being minors in possession of alcohol.

10:52 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A 911 caller reported hearing doors slamming and people yelling at a residence on Greenley Road. A neighbor told the caller it was only an argument.

6 p.m., Groveland — A flue fire was reported on the 20700 block of Crest Easement Road. Groveland Community Services District fire department responded.

TUESDAY

7:06 a.m., Angels Camp — A caller said aluminum cans were scattered all over Murphys Grade Road.

9:27 a.m., Angels Camp — A caller said trespassers were on property on Welch Road near Appaloosa.

3:15 p.m., Arnold — A caller said juveniles were setting off M-80s on Monetier Drive.

5:42 p.m., Valley Springs — A man on the 4900 block of Treosti Place said his friend was assaulted and the woman who hit his friend then hit the caller's car with a crowbar. A deputy spoke with all parties involved.

WEDNESDAY

5:15 a.m., Valley Springs — Anthony Don Patrick, 28, 2000 block of Beverlin Lane, San Andreas, booked on suspicion of vehicle theft after arrest by a California Highway Patrol officer on Cedar Street, Valley Springs. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $45,000 bail.

5:30 p.m., San Andreas — Starla Ann Gohl, 37, 500 block of East Oak Street, Lodi, booked on a Calaveras County warrant charging her with robbery, conspiracy and soliciting a minor to commit a crime after arrest at the Tuolumne County Jail. She remained in custody in lieu of $200,000 bail.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Bradley Scott Gaisford, 23, 4500 block of Highway 4, Murphys, booked at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday after arrest on the 100 block of Highway 4, Murphys.

Fires

WEDNESDAY

10:15 p.m., Jenny Lind area — A water heater element burned out in a house on the 6700 block of Cane Lane. Damage was estimated at $500. Douglas Davis of the same address owns the property. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection responded.
