Sheriff's reports

FRIDAY

8:18 a.m., East Sonora — A woman said someone tried to break into a storage area on the 13500 block of Bergel Road, but dogs scared the intruder away and the woman said nothing appeared to be missing.

10:04 a.m., Sonora area — A woman on the 13000 block of Oak Road said her mail was stolen.

11:33 a.m., Pinecrest — An employee at Dodge Ridge Ski Resort on the 800 block of Dodge Ridge Road said he had a thief in custody for allegedly shoplifting in the dining room.

11:56 a.m., Groveland — A woman said someone used her name and Social Security number to charge $1,100.

3:50 p.m., East Sonora — A man on the 14600 block of Mono Way said he was assaulted Thursday.

4:21 p.m., East Sonora —A driver in a small motorhome drove off from gas pumps at Sonora Mini Mart on the 14200 block of Tuolumne Road with the nozzle still in the gas tank. He had already paid for the gas.

4:36 p.m., Jamestown — A caller said a man wearing a plaid shirt stole toilet paper from the bathrooms near Rocco Park on Main Street. He also moved a broken part of a slide, which the caller believed he planned to get later.

4:46 p.m., Pinecrest — A man said a snowboard was stolen from Dodge Ridge Ski Resort on the 700 block of Dodge Ridge Road.

5:02 p.m., Columbia — A woman said her 17-year-old son was walking on Parrotts Ferry Road when he saw a man dressed in black leather lying on the ground with numerous empty beer cans nearby. He appeared not to be moving, she said.

6:40 p.m., Cold Springs — A man on the 29500 block of Lassen Drive said someone had been in his cabin.

7:38 p.m., East Sonora — An employee at Albertson's in The Junction shopping center on the 13700 block of Highway 108 said juveniles were in front of the store soliciting people to buy them alcohol.

9:25 p.m., Tuolumne — An anonymous caller at Mother Lode Christian School on the 18300 block of Gardner Avenue said she is with a visiting sports team, and teen-agers were blocking the parking lot with their vehicles so the visiting team member can't get out. While she was on the telephone, they started moving their cars.

SATURDAY

7:42 a.m., Columbia — A man on the 11400 block of Columbia Village Drive said someone vandalized his car with orange paintballs.

9:16 a.m., Crystal Falls — A woman on the 16800 block of American River Drive said someone knocked her mailbox off its post. She was unable to find the mailbox.

11:05 a.m., Pinecrest — An employee at Dodge Ridge Ski Resort said a 15-year-old was being detained for stealing a piece of pizza.

11:22 a.m., Ponderosa Hills — A man said after he mailed a check for $37, someone altered it to read $8,000 and changed the payee.

1:34 p.m., Groveland — A man at Pine Mountain Lake Country Club on Mueller Drive said one of his employees did not show up for work, so he went to his house to pick him up. When he got there, he said, the employee came to the door, pushed him and threatened him with an axe handle.

2:20 p.m., Sonora Meadows — A man on the 16500 block of Creekside Drive said someone bashed his mailbox. It was determined the box and its posts had been hit by a car, so the man was advised to report it to the California Highway Patrol as a hit-and-run.

2:24 p.m., Columbia — A woman on the 11300 block of Columbia Village Drive said someone paintballed her car and put toothpaste all over it between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

3:57 p.m., Jamestown — An employee at the Whistle Stop on Highway 108 at Rawhide Road said two Latino men had just stolen beer and sandwiches from the store.

6:08 p.m., Phoenix Lake — A man on the 21900 block of Paseo De Los Portales said he had just returned home from vacation and noticed jewelry missing.

6:17 p.m., Jamestown — A man said his vehicle was broken into while he was fishing on Two Mile Bar Road at Highway 108. The right side back window was broken. Taken, he said, were a cellular telephone, prescription glasses, a $1,500 watch and a leather jacket.

9:20 p.m., Tuolumne — A mini-mart clerk called for a customer who found a phony $50 bill outside Black Oak Casino on the 19400 block of Tuolumne Road North.

SUNDAY

8:19-10:42 a.m., Mono Village — Five separate callers said their mailboxes were bashed in or knocked over during the night. Four were on the 14500 block of Stone Lane, and one was on the 14600 block of Stone Lane.

9:03 a.m., Crystal Falls — A man on the 22000 block of Crystal Falls Drive West said tools he had in a tent outside his house were taken.

10:31 a.m., Twain Harte — A man said money and other items were taken from the office of the Wildwood Inn on the 22900 block of Meadow Lane.

12:18 p.m., Tuolumne — A woman at the Tuolumne Square shopping center on Tuolumne Road near Pine Street said six people were yelling obscenities to people as they walked by, and possibly smoking an illegal substance.

Felony bookings

FRIDAY

4:52 a.m., Sonora — Randall Jacob Questo, 22, 22500 block of Lyons Bald Mountain Road, Sonora, booked on a state parole hold after arrest at his home. He remained held without bail this morning.

11:03 p.m., Columbia — Tansha Rene Powell, 29, 22600 block of Broadway, Columbia, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance for sale and child endangerment after arrest at her apartment.

No details were available this morning from the sheriff's department. She remained in custody this morning in lieu of $200,000 bail.

SATURDAY

6:23 p.m., Sonora — Martin W. Ham, 35, no address disclosed, booked on a state parole hold after an arrest in Sonora Crossroads shopping center parking lot by Sonora Police. He remained held without bail this morning.

6:50 p.m., Mi-Wuk Village — Robert Joseph Rhea, 28, 21100 block of Lodestone, Mi-Wuk Village and Michael David Rhea, 21, no address, both booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after an arrest on the 21100 block of Lodestone.

According to a sheriff's department report, the two men were arguing earlier in the day over unpaid rent on an apartment. The argument continued into the evening, and the pair got into a physical fight. Each brother was trying to strangle and choke the other, the report said.

During the argument, Robert Rhea was cut with a knife on his head and Michael suffered bruises to his neck.

When deputies arrived after a woman called 911, they had to break up the fight. Both were treated and released from Tuolumne General Hospital before being booked.

They remained in custody this morning in lieu of $30,000 bail each.

SUNDAY

1:37 a.m., Columbia — Jason Alvin Henegar, 23, 19000 block of Jamestown Road, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after an arrest on the 22200 block of Parrotts Ferry Road, Columbia. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Arrests

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

William George Sullivan, 21, 22600 block of South Gold Street, Columbia, booked at 2:57 a.m. Saturday after arrest at an undisclosed address on Highway 49.

Timothy Nile Frankenstein, 52, 19100 block of Middle Camp, Sugar Pine, booked at 11:05 p.m. Sunday after arrest on Joaquin Gully, Twain Harte.

THURSDAY

4:47 a.m., suspicious circumstances — An officer checked on a vehicle on Elk Drive.

7:17 a.m., fraudulent activity — An employee at Cost U Less on the 700 block of Mono Way in Sonora Plaza said someone passed a counterfeit traveler's check for $100.

10:51 a.m., found property — A blue 10-speed bicycle was found at the corner of Shepherd and Lyons streets.

10:56 a.m., fraudulent activity — An employee at Joan's Boutique on South Washington Street said someone passed a counterfeit traveler's check for $100.

11:01 a.m., found property — A handicapped placard was found on Mehun Street.

3:29 p.m., public intoxication — An anonymous 911 caller said a man who just bought a television at a business on the 1100 block of Sanguinetti Road in the Sonora Crossroads shopping center could not find his vehicle in the parking lot. The caller said the man was "very" intoxicated. The 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.

7:16 p.m., fight — A 911 caller said there was a fight between a man and woman on the 400 block of Greenley Road.

9:49 p.m., disorderly conduct — A man was causing a disturbance in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the 300 block of North Washington Street. The caller said the man might have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The man was gone when an officer arrived.

11:33 p.m., traffic violation — Someone said drivers have been speeding up and down Shaws Flat and Saratoga roads for the past hour. The caller said the drivers were peeling out, playing loud music and yelling.

FRIDAY

9:08 p.m., lost property — A Soulsbyville man said he lost his cellular telephone on the 100 block of South Washington Street on Thursday night.

12:54 p.m., warrant arrest — A 19-year-old man was arrested on the 100 block of South Green Street on a misdemeanor warrant.

7:34 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A car parked on South Stewart Street with expired registration tags and a Department of Motor Vehicles sticker was towed and stored.

9:13 p.m., vandalism — After being called to the 600 block of Shaws Flat Road because of a report that people were challenging each other to fight, an officer determined a vehicle's hood had been scratched with a key. A report was taken.

SATURDAY

1:47 a.m., warrant arrest — After an officer responded to a call that a male and two females were vandalizing newspaper racks in front of a bar on the 100 block of South Washington Street, a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public and on two Tuolumne County misdemeanor warrants.

12:43 p.m., traffic accident — A non-injury accident was reported on the 1100 block of Mono Way.

1:43 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A man on the 400 block of South Stewart Street said his tire was flattened during the night.

3:39 p.m., traffic accident — A non-injury accident occurred on the 1100 block of Sanguinetti Road.

10:52 p.m., suspicious circumstances — An employee at Sonora Express Mart on the 100 block of Pesce Way reported receiving checks written on a closed account.

Fires

FRIDAY

4:30 p.m., Jamestown area — A mobile home fire was reported on the 18700 block of Highway 108 at Woods Creek Mobile Home Park. An electronic malfunction caused about $5,000 damage to the floor supports and insulation. Bobbie Cline of the same address owns the home. Jamestown Fire Protection District, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne County Fire Department and City of Sonora Fire Department responded.

FRIDAY

6:59 a.m., Arnold — The California Highway Patrol was notified of a boulder in the road on Highway 4 at Black Springs.

9:23 a.m., Arnold — A 911 call was made from a house that appears vacant on the 2900 block of Evergreen Drive. The caller hung up as soon as the dispatcher answered.

9:26 a.m., Valley Springs — A counterfeit cashier's check and a stolen check were both received at Mar-Val Food Store on the 100 block of Highway 26.

3:35 p.m., Wallace — A caller on the 300 block of Hawks Landing reported the theft of a generator and tools.

7:13 p.m., Murphys — A group of people were having a loud party in the cemetery.

SATURDAY

2:25 p.m., Angels Camp — A windsurfing board was stolen from New Melones Lake.

2:31 p.m., Mountain Ranch — Someone drove off without paying for gasoline at the Golden Spur Mini-Mart on the 6500 block of Railroad Flat Road.

7:55 p.m., Vallecito — officers were asked to respond to TLC Laundromat on the 100 block of Highway 12 because an irate customer was causing a disturbance.

Fires

SUNDAY

2:30 p.m., Angels Camp — A fire was reported on a fence on the 700 block of Casey Street. Damage and cause were unknown, and the landowner's name was unavailable. Angels Camp Fire Department, Altaville-Melones Fire Protection District, San Andreas Fire Protection District and CDF responded.
