Sheriff's reports


8:27 a.m., Groveland — A man said garbage was dumped onto his driveway on the 20000 block of Lower Skyridge Drive.

8:36 a.m., Columbia — A caller on the 22000 block of Parrotts Ferry Road reported losing an Indian flute.

9:07 a.m., Dodge Ridge — A man reported losing a wallet while working at the ski area.

11:01 a.m., Jamestown — A man on the 10000 block of Eighth Street found a bird with its head cut off and wanted to talk to a deputy about it.

11:45 a.m., North Sonora — A house on the 20000 block of Saratoga Road was reported burglarized.

12:25 p.m., Tuolumne — A caller said a woman who appeared to be under the influence was staggering into a store on Tuolumne Road after walking from a vehicle with two people in it.

1:31 p.m., Sonora Meadows — A woman on the 16000 block of Creekside Drive said a large parcel delivered to her home was missing.

3:47 p.m., Racetrack Road area — A man on the 19000 block of Rough and Ready Trail said money in a jar in his bedroom was missing.

5:26 p.m., Columbia — A Columbia College student said a mountain bike was stolen from the college dorms over the weekend.

11 p.m., Tuolumne — A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct after a Black Oak Casino security officer saw him running around cars parked at the casino.


12:32 a.m., Standard area — A woman said she saw a vehicle pulling into a carport of a vacant house near Jenness Road and thought it was suspicious.

Felony bookings


2:28 a.m., Jamestown — Forrest Richard Lowe, 23, of the 17900 block of Harvard Mine Road, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of robbery and misdemeanor battery on a peace officer, petty theft and being under the influence of a controlled substance after an arrest on Highway 108 at Woods Way, Jamestown.

According to a sheriff's department report, a woman said Lowe came into a convenience store on the 18100 block of Highway 108 talking irrationally and acting "pretty freaked out."

Lowe reportedly took a candy bar and money on the counter belonging to the woman, then left. Deputies found Lowe, questioned him and arrested him. Lowe struggled with deputies and one of them was cut on the hand, the report stated.

He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $5,000 bail.

8:39 a.m., Sonora — Christopher George Morganelli, 26, 10400 block of Mt. Brow Road, Sonora, booked on a warrant charging him with marijuana cultivation after he turned himself in. He was released on his own recognizance after appearing in court.

9:07 a.m., Sonora — Jason Thomas Dewar, 27, 3700 block of Byer Park Avenue, Modesto, booked on a warrant charging him with embezzlement, after he turned himself in. He was released on his own recognizance after appearing in court.

7 p.m., Big Hill — Jeremy Paul Hernandez, 25, 12200 block of Gunsight Road, Big Hill, booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and a state parole hold after an arrest at his house. He remained in custody this morning without bail.


12:45 a.m., Jamestown — Marilyn Lee Burger, 49, 10800 block of Mt. Brow Road, Sonora, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after an arrest on Highway 108 and Fifth Avenue, Jamestown.

During a traffic stop about 10 p.m. yesterday, a sheriff's deputy recognized Burger as being on probation and searched her, a sheriff's report stated. The deputy said he found three small plastic bags in her pocket, one of which contained a small white powder the deputy suspected of being methamphetamine.

As the deputy was trying to put handcuffs on Burger, she swallowed one of the bags. Burger was taken to a Sonora hospital where she could be under a doctor's care after ingesting what the deputy believed to be methamphetamine.

She was later released from the hospital and booked into the county jail.

Burger remained in custody this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Leslie Charles Ferrari, 60, 23300 block of Pinewood Lane, Twain Harte, booked at 9:25 p.m. yesterday after arrest on Highway 108 west of Yosemite Junction.

Billy Wayne Locklin, 46, 9400 block of Bostwick Road, Sonora, booked at 12:55 a.m. today after arrest on Highway 108 at Main Street, Jamestown.

Sonora police reports


9:01 a.m., theft — An employee at the Inns of California on the 300 block of South Washington Street said someone broke into a room and used it overnight.

11:08 a.m., suspicious circumstances — An agitated student was seen leaving Cassina High School on South Barretta Street.

11:10 a.m., suspicious circumstances — An man reported a possible parolee at large in a vehicle near a business on the 900 block of Sanguinetti Road. The man was gone when an officer arrived.

12:23 p.m., agency assist — An officer checked on a woman intoxicated at a business on the 1200 block of Sanguinetti Road.

2:09 p.m., suspicious circumstances — An officer checked on a man on the 800 block of Greenley Road.

4:13 p.m., suspicious circumstances — Two small children were seen alone in a parked vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the Sonora Crossroads shopping center on the 1200 block of Sanguinetti Road.

4:48 p.m., reckless driving — An erratic driver was reported on Mono Way, heading toward downtown Sonora.

10:41 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A woman said while she was walking her dog, someone threw a bottle from an older station wagon that landed close to her. She wasn't sure if the person was trying to hit her.

10:44 p.m., controlled substance arrest — During a traffic stop, a 43-year-old man was arrested on Terrace Drive on suspicion of possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, possessing a hypodermic needle and for violating probation, all misdemeanors. The man was a passenger in the vehicle.

7:45 p.m., Groveland — A flue fire was reported on the 17800 block of Deer Flat Road. No dollar damage was reported. J. Granger of the same address owns the home. Groveland Community Services District Fire Department, Tuolumne County Fire Department and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection responded.


Sheriff's reports


7:08 a.m., Valley Springs — A caller on the 500 block of St. Andrews Road reported seeing smoke from a golf course and things falling out of the sky. A deputy determined the smoke was from a controlled burn in the area.

12:13 p.m., Mokelumne Hill — A caller found a wallet at a convenience store on Highway 49.

12:48 p.m., Copperopolis — A caller reported four suspicious-looking teens walking around a vacant house on the 3000 block of Arrowhead.

2:24 p.m., San Andreas — A theft was reported at Gold Strike High School on the 500 block of Gold Strike Road.

6:50 p.m., Valley Springs — A caller said someone threw a lit firecracker onto Baldwin Street when the caller drove by.
