Sheriff's reports

SUNDAY

11:26 a.m., Standard area — A woman said a brown pickup with a camper shell had been parked in the Interfaith parking lot on the 18500 block of Striker Court for more than two days.

1:28 p.m., Dodge Ridge — A Dodge Ridge employee said an unruly guest was in the ski patrol first aid room causing a disturbance.

2:08 p.m., Willow Springs — A man on the 17200 block of Kelleher Court said his car was stolen then returned by a woman and a man who were at his house.

2:17 p.m., New Melones Reservoir — A U.S. Bureau of Reclamation employee asked for a deputy to help contact animal control officers in either Calaveras or Tuolumne counties to pick up a possibly rabid skunk.

2:21 p.m., Curtis Creek Ranch area — A man said a motorcycle rider was speeding recklessly on Black Oak Road.

5:46 p.m., Columbia — A man on the 10800 block of Airport Road North said a teenage boy was shooting a BB gun at windows on a trailer parked next to a field. A deputy talked to the teen, who admitted he was shooting at the trailer, but said the windows were already broken.

6:30 p.m., East Sonora — A caller said a man carrying a plastic bag was walking in the middle of Mono Way just past Sanguinetti Road.

7:32 p.m., Groveland — A caller on the 11000 block of Merrell Road said a neighbor threatened him.

9:19 p.m., Columbia area — A woman on the 11300 block of Columbia Village Drive said her mailbox was opened and an envelope containing a spare key was ripped apart.

10:37 p.m., La Grange area — A caller said a large black bull was in the middle of Bonds Flat Road near La Grange Road, creating a road hazard.

YESTERDAY

5:22 a.m., Tuolumne — A man on the 18800 block of Madrone Avenue said his white 1994 Dodge pickup with a camper shell was stolen.

Felony bookings

FRIDAY

10:30 p.m., Columbia area — A 27-year-old man was booked on suspicion of felony spousal battery and making criminal threats toward his wife after an arrest at his home. He remained in jail this morning, held in lieu of $35,000 bail.

SATURDAY

9:58 p.m., Sonora — Anthony Bruce Ortega, 24, 23100 block of Borden Road, Sonora, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and possessing a controlled substance for sale after an arrest on Washington Street at Restano Way. No other details were available. He was released Sunday after posting $20,000 bail.

10:42 p.m., Groveland — Timothy Lawrence Rose, 23, 11000 block of Stout Lane, Greeley Hill, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and sale of a controlled substance after a traffic stop and arrest on Elder Lane at Beck Road.

According to a sheriff's report, a deputy stopped a car without a front license plate in which Rose was a passenger. He agreed to a search and the deputy found 1.22 grams of methamphetamine and four small plastic baggies and two straws in his front pants pocket.

Rose remained in jail this morning, held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

SUNDAY

7:47 a.m., Sonora — Alejandro Canela, 38, undisclosed address on F Street, Merced, booked on suspicion of being in the United States illegally after a traffic stop and arrest on Washington Street at Stockton Road. He remained in jail this morning, held without bail.

9:10 a.m., Columbia area — A 25-year-old man booked on suspicion of felony spousal battery after an arrest in Angels Camp by Angels Camp police.

According to a sheriff's report, the man's wife went to Tuolumne General Hospital for treatment of back injuries she said her husband inflicted. She said her husband was drinking and she did not want him to drive. While arguing, she said, he picked her up and threw her onto a couch. He left the house and drove to his parents' house in Angels Camp, where he was arrested.

He remained in jail this morning, held in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Jacob Mathew Diehl, 33, 3000 block of Kingswood Way, Modesto, booked at 3:09 a.m. Saturday after arrest on Green Street at Theall Street, Sonora.

Marvin Wayne Carter, 55, 17700 block of Good Shepherd Drive, Twain Harte, booked at 7:50 p.m. Sunday after arrest on Joaquin Gully at Mountain Drive, Twain Harte.

Joan Lee Bernal, 69, 19500 block of Hess Avenue, Sonora, booked at 9:44 p.m. Sunday after arrest on Stewart Street at Restano Way, Sonora.

Joshua James Allen Vick, 43, no address given, Jamestown, booked at 12:40 p.m. Sunday after arrest on Highway 108 east of Lime Kiln Road, Sonora area.

Fire

YESTERDAY

4:20 p.m., Jamestown — A flue-and-attic fire was reported on the 18100 block of Eighth Avenue. The fire was caused by an improperly installed flue. Damage was estimated at $200. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne County Fire Department, Jamestown Fire Protection District and Sonora City Fire Department responded.

TODAY

3 a.m., Tuolumne — A flue fire was reported on the 18700 block of Pine Street. No damage was reported. John Feriani of Tuolumne owns the home. Cheryl James of the same address is the tenant. Tuolumne Fire Protection District, CDF, Tuolumne County Fire Department and Twain Harte Community Services District responded.

Sonora police reports

SUNDAY

3:30 a.m., suspicious circumstances — An officer found two gates at Sonora Elementary School opened and one damaged.

8:34 a.m., animal complaints — An officer freed a deer caught in a fence on Symons Lane by cutting the fence. The deer ran away.

10:08 a.m., hazardous situation — A stop sign on Sanguinetti Road at Old Wards Ferry Road was turned so drivers were unable to see it.

11:52 a.m., domestic abuse — A caller said a woman was hitting her children inside a motel room on Stockton Road. An officer interviewed two children and determined they were not being abused.

12:55 p.m., traffic violation — A 47-year-old man was cited and released for driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on South Washington Street at East Church Street.

1:25 p.m., vandalism — A caller said the passenger side window on a car parked on McCormick Drive was busted out.

1:44 p.m., found property — A man confiscated a driver's license used by a girl to try to buy alcohol at a business on South Stewart Street.

2:25 p.m., traffic accident — A woman said her car was hit by another car while it was parked in a lot on the 1100 block of Mono Way.

2:55 p.m., theft — A caller asked for an officer to come to the Sonora Elks Lodge on Elk Drive to take a theft report.

3:41 p.m., found property — A Schwinn bicycle was found hidden in brush off Steffen Way.

10:34 p.m., suspicious circumstances — An officer said kids at Sonora High School ran away from him when he tried to talk to them on School Street.

SUNDAY

8:02 a.m., Angels Camp — Money was reported stolen from a dresser drawer on the 1000 block of Tuolumne Avenue.

11:07 a.m., Valley Springs — A caller reported an argument between a person trying to serve civil court papers and the person being served on the 6900 block of Cassidy Road.

1:19 p.m., Valley Springs — A caller on the 2800 block of Oak Court found a set of keys.

2:56 p.m., Arnold — A deputy assisted a California Highway Patrol officer in finding a stolen vehicle behind Pacific State Bank.

9 p.m., Copperopolis — A caller on the 1100 block of Quill Road reported seeing a mountain lion run across his driveway.

Felony bookings

FRIDAY

9:50 a.m., Copperopolis — Eric Richard Smith, 38, 2300 block of Quail Hill Road, Copperopolis, booked on suspicion of felony battery after arrest at his home. As of this morning, Smith remained in custody at Calaveras County Jail in lieu of $90,000.

Cited for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Carin Alatorre, 49, 3300 block of Vallecito Road, Vallecito, booked at 2 p.m. Friday after arrest at a Valley Springs grocery store.

Mark Edward Smith, 38, 1100 block of Schmauder Mine Road, Altaville, booked at 12:07 a.m. Sunday after arrest on Slate Circle in Angels Camp.

Nakia Lynn McCraney, 28, 6200 block of Gwin Street, Valley Springs, booked at 12:01 a.m. yesterday after arrest at Highway 49 and Pool Station Road.
