Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

8:53 a.m., Rancho Sonora Estates — A woman on Eureka Drive said mail that was opened and didn't belong to her was in her mailbox. She was told to give it to her mailman or take it to the post office.

2 p.m., Ponderosa Hills — A man on the 20300 block of Canyonview Drive said gasoline had been stolen from his vehicle.

3:46 p.m., Tuolumne — A man on the 18400 block of Rozier Avenue said a maroon Mazda sedan was abandoned in an alley behind his house.

4:35 p.m., Tuolumne — A woman on the 18700 block of Madrone Street said a hose was vandalized.

8:49 p.m., Phoenix Lake Road area — A man on the 20000 block of Phoenix Lake Road said that while he was picking up his son he was threatened by another man.

YESTERDAY

4:28 a.m., Greenley Road area — A woman said that while she was outside a business on the 12800 block of Sylva Lane, a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and baggy pants tried to coax her over to him.

Felony bookings

TUESDAY

10:28 p.m., Jamestown — A 38-year-old Jamestown man booked on suspicion of damaging a telephone line and misdemeanor battery after an arrest at his home. A sheriff's report said a woman called 911 from a neighbor's phone to say the man parked his car behind hers so she could not leave, spit in her face and held her down on the sofa after pulling out the phone line.

He was released yesterday after posting $5,000 bail.

11:35 p.m., Jamestown — Lawrence Anthony Beenblossom, 18, no address, booked on suspicion of possession of a deadly weapon after an arrest on Highway 108 at Jamestown Road, Jamestown. No details were available. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

11:59 p.m., Mono Vista — Christopher Luke Jones, 25, 22700 block of Quail Mine Road, Columbia, booked on a felony parole hold and suspicion of the misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia after an arrest on North Sunshine Road at Mono Vista Road.

No details were available. He remained held this morning without bail.

YESTERDAY

12:04 a.m., Sonora — David James Devlin, 43, 18700 block of Dusty Trail, Sonora, booked on a felony parole hold and a misdemeanor charge of public drunkenness after an arrest on South Washington Street at Restano Way.

A Sonora police report said a caller saw a man stumbling down South Washington Street. An officer questioned the man, determined who he was and arrested Devlin on suspicion of public intoxication. Devlin was on parole. He remained in jail this morning, held without bail.

Fires

TUESDAY

2 a.m., Twain Harte area — A vehicle fire was reported on the 19000 block of Middle Camp Sugar Pine Road. Damage was estimated at $250 to an air filter and wiring. Richard Carney of Mi-Wuk Village owns the 1974 Ford pickup. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and Twain Harte Community Services District Fire Department responded.

4:20 p.m., Sonora — A vehicle fire was reported in the Sonora Crossroads shopping center parking lot. The fire started in the engine compartment of a 1996 Chrysler. Sonora Police officers extinguished the fire before firefighters arrived. Sonora City Fire Department responded.

TUESDAY

1:28 a.m., public intoxication — A 44-year-old woman was booked on suspicion of public intoxication after an arrest in Coffill Park.

8:09 a.m., miscellaneous codes — A caller said a neighbor put out six cans of garbage for pick-up from the 100 block of Tidwall Street, but some of the bags were ripped apart and garbage was spread all over the caller's yard.

8:31 a.m., hazardous situation — A big rig was unable to make a turn because a car parked on East Jackson Street was in its way.

9:51 a.m., theft — A woman on the 100 block of Hill Street said jewelry was stolen from an armoire over the Thanksgiving weekend.

12:59 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller said a young man was checking door handles of vehicles parked in a Sonora Community Hospital parking lot on South Forest Road. When the caller asked him what he was doing, the man left in a blue Saturn.

5:05 p.m., theft — A 47-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from Wal-Mart on Sanguinetti Road.

6:01 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller said a man is coming onto a vacant parking lot on South Stewart Street each night and littering.

9:39 p.m., public intoxication — A woman on the 200 block of West Jackson Street said an intoxicated man was at her front door. The man left before an officer arrived.

TUESDAY

11:04 a.m., San Andreas — Change was stolen from a vending machine at Gold Strike High School during school hours.

1:08 p.m., Copperopolis — A caller from Highway 4 and Vista Point found two 1-gallon containers, one of them wrapped in plastic. They turned out to be paint and lacquer thinner.

3:26 p.m., Valley Springs — A woman on the 6000 block of Baldwin Street said someone stole a soda from her porch refrigerator.

9:20 p.m., Valley Springs — A man on the 700 block of Quail Oaks said someone was in a car parked on his property. The man yelled at the person and the car drove away.

Felony bookings

11 p.m., Mountain Ranch — Daniel Lawrence Czech, 43, Golden Spur Road, Mountain Ranch, booked on suspicion of felony parole violation after arrest at his home. He was transferred to state prison.

Fire

TUESDAY

9:20 p.m., Quail Hill Road — A flue fire was reported on the 2900 block of Quail Hill Road. Copperopolis Fire Protection District responded.
