Sheriff's reports

SUNDAY

9:01 a.m., East Sonora — A fence was damaged and tarps were stolen behind two businesses, Hava Java and The Fuel Depot, on the 13800 block of Mono Way.

9:15 a.m., Greenley Road area — A woman said a non-slip mat was stolen from Visiting Nurses Association on Cedar Road North.

10:41 a.m., Mono Village — A man found mail in a trash bin on the 14300 block of Mono Way that appeared to belong to nearby businesses.

1:03 p.m., Tuolumne — A man on the 18500 block of Cedar Street said a .22 caliber rifle and drills, all valued at $1,165, were stolen from a workshop.

2:19 p.m., Quail Hollow — A man said a vehicle's side mirror was damaged when the car was parked on the 20200 block of Sparrow Lane.

2:20 p.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 10600 block of Wigwam Road said two concrete lawn ornaments were stolen from her yard.

2:39 p.m., Quail Hollow — A man on the 20000 block of Sparrow Lane said his girlfriend stole $416 from his wallet while he was sleeping and left with a friend, headed for Stanislaus County.

2:42 p.m., Willow Springs — A woman on the 21300 block of Oman Drive said wires on her hot tub had been cut.

4:23 p.m., Tuolumne — A woman said two men driving an older white van without windows followed her daughter as she walked on Apple Colony Road. A "be-on-the-lookout" order was issued for the van.

7:06 p.m., East Sonora — A woman said a window on her car was broken while it was parked at The Junction shopping center.

10:26 p.m., Tuolumne — A Me-Wuk Tribal security officer said two suspicious-looking men left a burgundy van parked and running on MiWuk Street while they walked away carrying a backpack.

Felony bookings

FRIDAY

2:02 p.m., Sonora — Michael Andrew Smyth, 47, 20400 block of Phoenix Lake Road, Sonora, booked on Marin County warrants charging him with a fifth drunken driving conviction within seven years and driving with a license suspended for a previous drunken driving conviction.

According to a Sonora police report, several people called the police department about a man, later identified as Smyth, stumbling and falling as he walked down Linoberg Street. An officer questioned Smyth and learned of the warrants. Smyth told the officer he was trying to get to his car parked on Linoberg Street.

Smyth was taken to the Marin County Jail yesterday.

7:02 p.m., Big Oak Flat — Patrick Eugene Prest, 35, 19600 block of Elder Lane, Groveland, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of hypodermic needles after an arrest on Anderson Road and Vasser Lane.

No details were available. He remained held this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

SATURDAY

12:28 a.m., Jamestown — Thomas Emmett Brennan, 37, 14500 block of Lolly Lane, Sonora, booked on suspicion of burglary after an arrest on the 10600 block of Seventh Street, Jamestown.

According to a sheriff's report, a man on Gunsight Road said Brennan stole an air compressor from the man's house, and gave a description of the air compressor and Brennan's truck to a deputy. Brennan and his truck were seen in Jamestown and Brennan was arrested.

He remained held this morning in lieu of $50,000 bail.

12:30 p.m., Willow Springs — Robert Darold Hoyopatubbi, 42, 20000 block of Hani Road, Tuolumne, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana after an arrest on the 16600 block of Allison Way.

A sheriff's report said a caller complained of loud noises coming from the Allison Way house. A deputy went there and talked to several people, including Hoyopatubbi, who was also searched. A deputy found methamphetamine in Hoyopatubbi's pocket and arrested him. He remained held this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

12:50 a.m., Sonora — Justin Tyler Romero, 20, unknown address on Parrotts Ferry Road, Columbia, booked on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer and misdemeanor fighting, providing false information and battery on a peace officer after an arrest on Stockton Road at South Washington Street. No details were available.

He remained held this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

9:30 a.m., Twain Harte — Joshua Micha Kohl, 30, 23500 block of Middle Camp Road, Twain Harte, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after an arrest at the Twain Harte Post Office. He was also booked on a felony parole hold.

A sheriff's report said a deputy was looking for a burglary suspect and saw Kohl, who looked similar to the man the deputy was looking for. He questioned Kohl, who was on parole for a burglary conviction. The deputy then did a parole-allowed search of Kohl and his vehicle, and reported finding methamphetamine in Kohl's vehicle. Kohl remained held without bail this morning.

9:32 p.m., Sonora — Larry Martin Pacocha, 47, 17900 block of Marble Ridge Road, Columbia, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana after an arrest on Stockton Road by a Sonora police officer.

According to a police report, the officer stopped Pacocha for a traffic violation, and during a search, found two plastic bags with marijuana inside.

He remained held this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Jason William Wood, 24, 10900 block of Derby Circle, Sonora, booked at 10:05 p.m. Saturday after an arrest on South Washington Street at Stockton Road, Sonora.

Sonora police reports

SUNDAY

11:12 a.m., controlled substances — A caller said two teens were at his house on Banner Drive smoking marijuana.

11:55 a.m., miscellaneous harassment — A caller said two people were harassing the caller while all three were at a laundromat on Stockton Road.

1:28 p.m., found property — A caller on the 600 block of Twilight Court said a long-handled butcher knife was on a hill near his deck, and it hadn't been there the day before.

2:07 p.m., fraudulent activity — A Pak-N-Save manager said a man was trying to pass a counterfeit check.

8:18 p.m., theft — A caller said a blue Dodge Neon was broken into while it was parked in a Sonora Crossroads shopping center parking lot.

SUNDAY

8:31 a.m., Arnold — A gasoline tank on the 1000 block of Cypress Point Drive was vandalized.

9:53 a.m., Dorrington — A caller said a citizen was putting chains on a vehicle but blocking the eastbound lane of Highway 4 at Poison Springs.

3:16 p.m., Hathaway Pines — A man said gasoline was taken out of his and other vehicles parked near Highway 4 across from Commercial Way.

4:48 p.m., Valley Springs — A caller said a woman was arguing with a man on the 200 block of Highway 12 and hit the man's vehicle with a baseball bat. Both the man and the woman were gone when a deputy arrived.

5:38 p.m., Valley Springs — A caller said a woman was walking on the 200 block of Rose Street with a grocery cart she stole. A deputy talked to the woman, then followed her as she returned the cart.

9:01 p.m., San Andreas — A caller on the 1000 block of Oak Park Drive East said a tow truck was parked at her neighbor's house for more than two hours with the engine running.

YESTERDAY

1:37 a.m., Mokelumne Hill — A caller on the 8200 block of Highway 26 said her bedroom window was shattered and she heard someone run away.

1:32 a.m., Arnold — Charles Thomas Stalder, 50, 1100 block of Fir Street, Arnold, booked on suspicion of drug possession and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after an arrest on Highway 4. No details were available. He remained held this morning in lieu of $45,000 bail.

Scott Edward Grutzmacher, 40, 200 block of Pixley Avenue, San Andreas, booked at 8:35 p.m. Saturday after arrest on Highway 49 at Gold Strike Road, San Andreas.

Moises Adrian Banuelos, 21, 4100 block of Brooks Road, Valley Springs, booked at 4:24 a.m. Sunday after arrest on Highway 26 at Hogan Dam Road.

Andrew John Kinyon, 45, 400 block of Williams Street, Murphys, booked at 8:20 p.m. Sunday after arrest on Highway 4 at Williams Street, Murphys.

Kim Fisher, 51, 1400 block of Freelove Road, Oakdale, booked at 12:55 a.m. yesterday after arrest on Black Creek Road at O'Byrnes Ferry Road, Copperopolis area.
