Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

8:53 a.m., Groveland — A house on the 23300 block of Highway 120 was burglarized. The homeowner said 10 guns and two bows were stolen.

9:07 a.m., East Sonora — A Best Western Sonora Oaks front desk clerk said a guest's vehicle was broken into when someone smashed a window, then stole a stereo and CDs.

10:04 a.m., Jamestown — A 70-year-old man arguing with his 90-year-old father about a dog who ran away during a thunder and lightening storm called 911. A deputy told the men to calm down and go look for the dog.

10:38 a.m., Twain Harte — A $650 generator chained to a post was stolen from a house on the 20000 block of Brown Court.

10:53 a.m., Pinecrest — A man said fishing tackle was stolen from his boat docked at the Pinecrest Lake Marina.

11:41 a.m., Twain Harte — A woman said nine outdoor lights bordering her driveway on the 19700 block of Westview Drive were stolen. She estimated their value at $200.

2:26 p.m., Columbia — A man on State Street said his prescription medication has been tampered with by a caregiver.

5:10 p.m., Groveland — A man on the 19000 block of Ferretti Road said his 39-year-old daughter tore up his house.

7:07 p.m., Jamestown — A woman said two men were fighting at Jimtown Whistle Stop on the 18300 block of Highway 108.

7:49 p.m., Columbia — A woman on Old Home Court said a woman was at her house for two hours while the caller was gone. When she returned, the woman was in her barn and said she was looking for a place to stay. The caller asked the woman to leave and she did.

8:15 p.m., Jamestown — A county Public Works employee said the driver of a white van was camping in front of the county building on Seventh Street.

10:05 p.m., Jamestown — A 39-year-old man on was arrested on misdemeanor warrants when he showed up at an apartment on the 10300 block of Preston Lane in violation of a restraining order.

YESTERDAY

10:25 a.m., Sonora — Rudolph Zane Breitter, 20, 500 block of Hope Street, San Andreas, booked on suspicion of burglary and receiving stolen property. He was arrested at the county jail while in custody on other matters. Breitter remained in custody this morning in lieu of $50,000 bail.

TUESDAY

2:02 a.m., traffic violation — A 30-year-old man was cited and released on suspicion of driving with a suspended driver's license after an officer saw the man and his car stopped on South Stewart Street and Restano Way with the car's flashing lights on.

4:29 a.m., animal complaints — An older golden retriever showed up at the doorway of a gasoline station on South Washington Street during a thunderstorm. The dog was picked up by animal control.

7:24 a.m., hazardous situation — An officer removed a large tree branch from Shaws Flat Road, knocked down in the storm.

8:54 a.m., animal complaints — A JS West employee said a black plastic bag with a dog carcass inside was left near a large propane tank on South Washington Street.

2:56 p.m., fraudulent activity — A Staples employee said the store received two counterfeit $20 bills.

3:21 p.m., theft — A woman said her purse was stolen from a vehicle parked at a Tuolumne General Hospital parking lot.

4:11 p.m., animal complaints — A man found a stray dog without a collar on the 500 block of Stockton Road during an early-morning storm.

4:04 p.m., animal complaints — A woman on Olive Street said she was bitten by a stray cat she locked in her bathroom. The cat's owner was found and took the cat home.

5:14 p.m., traffic accident — No injuries were reported after a traffic accident on North Washington Street.

7:32 p.m., citizen assist — A Merced Union School District bus driver said his bus parked on South Washington Street and Stockton Road was running but would not move. An officer helped the bus driver.

8:04 p.m., animal complaints — A woman on the 200 block of Yaney Avenue said two men, one with a baseball bat, were walking with three large unleashed dogs.

10:04 p.m., traffic accident — Two people were injured and two cars sustained major damage in a collision on Snell and School streets.

A report said the driver of a 1992 Toyota Corolla going south on Snell Street failed to yield the right of way to the driver of a 1996 Dodge Neon going north on Snell Street. The Corolla driver turned left onto School Street and into the path of the Dodge. The injured parties complained of neck and chest pain, but refused medical attention.

TUESDAY

7:20 a.m., Copperopolis — Tools were reported stolen from a building on the 900 block of Feather Drive.

1:42 p.m., Valley Springs — A person was reportedly trapped inside a vehicle on the 6000 block of Usher by a vicious dog. A deputy responded and found a sleeping dog.

9:30 a.m. — Ronald Edward Oliver, 57, 2000 block of Lyons Bald Mountain Road, Sonora, booked on a Calaveras County warrant charging him with possessing, transporting and selling a controlled substance. He was brought to the Calaveras County Jail from the Tuolumne County Jail, and released on his own recognizance.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs:

Joe Fred Jones, 37, 4000 block of Marshal Road, Garden Valley, booked at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday after arrest on the 1000 block of Maple Street in Arnold.
