Sheriff's reports

YESTERDAY

7:23 a.m., East Sonora — A woman on the 18300 block of Wards Ferry Road said a neighbor went through her mailbox.

8:32 a.m., Crystal Falls — An Oakdale Police Department sergeant asked deputies to check an address on the 17000 block of Columbia River Drive for a vehicle that may have been involved in a hit and run Friday that resulted in a fatality. No vehicles were found at that address.

8:46 a.m., Tuolumne — Tuolumne Me-Wuk Tribal Security asked for a deputy to respond to Mi-Wu Street and Hani Drive because of someone who was behaving irrationally.

9:11 a.m., Soulsbyville — A clerk at the Soulsbyville Post Office said she just received a bag full of mail found by a citizen. All of the letters were from routes in and east of Sonora.

9:54 a.m., Mono Vista — A couple said a CD player, 20 CDs and a leather briefcase were taken from their vehicle while it was parked in a driveway on the 20600 block of North Sunshine Road.

9:56 a.m., Soulsbyville — A woman on the 17300 block of Valley Oak Drive reported vandalism to her garage window, possibly from a rock.

10:13 a.m., Big Hill area — A man on the 12500 block of Big Hill Road said someone poured sugar into his gas tank.

10:43 a.m., Mi-Wuk Village — A woman on the 20600 block of Chief Fuller Way said a man keeps showing up in front of her house, and the other day, he was asking a neighbor for money. Today, she saw him in front of the recently burned 7-Eleven in Twain Harte with his children and wife going through the rubble.

10:49 a.m., Twain Harte — A man on the 22900 block of East Avenue said his neighbor pulled up his surveyor stakes and started stacking wood on his property.

10:49 a.m., Jamestown —A woman on the 18100 block of Sixth Avenue said she noticed damage to her screen door a few days earlier, and now, thinking about it, she believes someone tried to get into her house. She requested extra patrols in the area.

11:23 a.m., Jamestown — A woman asked a deputy to accompany her to an apartment so she could change the lock. She said she believed people not on the lease might be occupying the apartment while the tenant is in jail.

11:32 a.m., Columbia — A man said collect calls were made on his telephone without his knowledge, and he believes someone is coming into his trailer while he is gone and accepting collect calls without his permission.

11:37 a.m., Jamestown area — A man said he chased off a white male adult in his 30s who was trying to take items from vehicles at Dolphin Enterprises.

11:43 a.m., Jamestown area — A woman on the 8400 block of Old Melones Dam Road wanted to turn over old bullets to a deputy for destruction.

12:07 p.m., Sonora area — A woman said a mailbox and newspaper containers were taken from the 19900 block of Kelly Drive.

2:46 p.m., Columbia — A man on Green Street said he has not seen his girlfriend or his vehicle in a week. He reported the girlfriend missing and said he also wanted to report the vehicle as stolen. He was referred to the California Highway Patrol to report the possible stolen car.

4:02 p.m., Pinecrest — A woman said her overweight sister with medical problems was trying to walk around Pinecrest Lake and couldn't make it. She asked for a boat to pick her up.

4:22 p.m., Mono Vista — A woman said two large backpacks containing clothes and sleeping bags were taken from a vehicle parked on the 20600 block of North Sunshine Road.

5:20 p.m., Twain Harte — A woman said she saw 20-25 boys and girls hanging out on the 22900 block of Joaquin Gully Road. She asked for a patrol check of the area.

5:47 p.m., La Grange — A woman said her neighbors asked her to call the sheriff's office about two men in a silver Jeep Cherokee they just saw in the driveway of a vacant residence.

6:20 p.m., Columbia — An anonymous woman called from a pay phone to say she just saw someone sell marijuana to a man on the 22800 block of Italian Bar Road.

6:57 p.m., Sonora area — An officer stopped to check out two women who were painting rocks along Sanguinetti Road. No further action was taken.

8:04 p.m., Twain Harte — A woman said she found two counterfeit $50 bills on the side of the road and left the money at the Twain Harte Sheriff's Community Services Unit office.

8:08 p.m., Jamestown — A woman said several kids were skateboarding in a parking lot on the 10300 block of Preston Lane and refused to move when vehicles were in the area.

8:11 p.m., Phoenix Lake area — A woman said people were living in an old school bus at the end of Conklin Trail and do not belong there.

Sonora police reports

YESTERDAY

4:46 a.m., fraudulent activities — A man said his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend are running a computer scam at an unknown Sonora address using his credit card and his parents' Internet access.

6:01 p.m., public intoxication — A 48-year-old man was arrested for public intoxication after a caller said he had fallen down at Coffill Park.

Felony bookings

MONDAY

2:10 a.m., Sonora area — Gilbert Edward Johnson, 43, 18800 block of Dusty Trail, arrested at his home on a Stanislaus County warrant for failure to appear in court, possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of possession of less than 28.5 grams of marijuana.

He was also arrested on a Tuolumne County Superior Court warrant for possession of a controlled substance, bringing contraband into jail and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was held this morning in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Wayne Russell Ross, 53, 9000 block of Smith Station Road, Groveland, arrested at 2:06 a.m. yesterday on Highway 120 east of Wards Ferry Road.

Michael Thomas Gaffney, 40, 200 block of Kingsley Street, Bridgeport, arrested at 8:40 p.m. on Highway 108 west of Twain Harte.

TODAY

2:20 a.m., Columbia — Fire was reported in a 1977 Winnebago in 49er RV Park on the 23200 block of Italian Bar Road. Damage was estimated at $200 to a plastic countertop. Discarded smoking material started the flames. Raelene Crye owns the home. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Columbia Fire Protection District and Tuolumne County Fire Department responded.

6:49 a.m., Valley Springs — Vandalism was reported on the 2400 block of Danaher Drive.

7:48 a.m., Valley Springs — A door was kicked in at a new house on the 8000 block of Sparrowk Road. Nothing was stolen.

8:26 a.m., Valley Springs — A runaway juvenile was reported on the 8000 block of Sparrowk Road.

9:13 a.m., Valley Springs — Suspicious items were found on the side of Highway 12, east of Southworth Road. The items were determined to be tennis balls cut open and containing human excrement.

10:37 a.m., Mokelumne Hill — The Hotel Ledger on Main Street received a counterfeit $20 bill.

12:22 p.m., Avery — Threatening phone calls were received on the 4500 block of Lovecreek Road.

12:50 p.m., Murphys — Juveniles were shooting BB guns on the 300 block of Bret Harte Drive.

1:22 p.m., San Andreas — An argument escalated to assault on the 400 block of Toyon Court.

3:27 p.m., Murphys — Juveniles were shooting BB guns on the 300 block of Bret Harte Drive.

4:15 p.m., Wilseyville — A neighbor accidentally knocked down a fence while driving on an easement on the 8500 block of Skunk Hollow Lane.

5:12 p.m., Valley Springs — A couple of girls chased after the caller's young daughter on the 100 block of Laurel Street.

6:26 p.m., Arnold —A caller on the 2700 block of Valley View Drive said a neighbor was shooting at the caller's cat with a pellet gun.

7:20 p.m., Wallace — A caller's son was drinking alcohol and throwing things around on the 10400 block of Southworth Road.

7:48 p.m., Murphys — A domestic dispute was reported on the 700 block of Rocky Hill Road.

8:11 p.m., Mountain Ranch — A family dispute was reported on the 6100 block of Trout Lane.

10:04 p.m., Milton — A caller on the 17000 block of Milton Road said people were walking toward the door of the Masonic Hall.

YESTERDAY

3:04 a.m., Jenny Lind — Criminal threats were received on the 9700 block of Scenic Valley Drive.

Felony bookings

MONDAY

8:24 a.m., San Andreas — Alan Turner, 46, 1300 block of Main Street, Douglas Flat, booked on a felony battery charge. Turner remained in custody this morning at the Calaveras County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

9 p.m., Murphys — Kelly Ray Ellisfritz, 41, 700 block of Rocky Hill Road, Murphys, booked on a felony battery charge. Ellisfritz was released from custody after posting $50,000 bail.

Arrests

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Thomas Michael Edwards, 50, 1200 block of Shady Circle, Arnold, booked at 8:34 p.m. Monday after arrest at an undisclosed location.

Fire

YESTERDAY

11:30 a.m., Arnold — A vehicle fire was reported on the 2100 block of Highway 4. Damage was estimated at $250 to a 1978 GMC pickup truck. Owner is unknown. CDF and Ebbetts Pass Fire Protection District responded.
