Sheriff's reports

SUNDAY

12:38 a.m., Tuolumne — A 27-year-old woman ripped an earring off an 18-year-old girl during a fight on the 14300 block of Tuolumne Road. The two reportedly were fighting over a man the 27-year-old was dating.

3 a.m., Wards Ferry Road area — A man on Route 5 Road said his neighbors were yelling and screaming.

4:39 a.m., Jamestown — A woman said a man was prowling around a yard on the 18000 block of Seco Street, looking into cars.

5:13 a.m., Cold Springs — A man said neighbors on Alpine Drive were having a loud party and trying to break into another house.

8:59 a.m., Big Oak Flat — A woman said her dog had been attracted to a bad odor off the side of Priest Coulterville Road, where it appeared there were vehicle tracks leaving the road. A deputy checked the area and didn't find anything.

9:47 a.m., Standard area — A woman said a man was bothering her at her work on the 14500 block of Tuolumne Road.

12:06 p.m., Tuolumne — A man said several teenagers were at the Ponderosa Hills swimming pool diving onto and into plastic climbing structures they had thrown into the pool.

12:20 p.m., Groveland — A woman said a house on the 20600 block of Longview Street was broken into and a front door window was smashed.

2:11 p.m., Jamestown — A woman said her ex-husband forged her signature on a tax refund check and cashed it at a store on Main Street.

2:46 p.m., Pinecrest — A man said a house on Sugar Pine Avenue was broken into and drawers looked through.

3 p.m., Don Pedro Reservoir — A woman at Lake Don Pedro Marina at Fleming Meadows said a 32-year-old man was injured in a boating accident on the lake.

3:36 p.m., Cuesta Serena — A woman said a man and three friends were driving wrecked cars into a fence and tree on the 11700 block of Campo Seco Road.

5:03 p.m., Twain Harte — A Forest Service employee said numerous people were screaming and shooting guns near Mt. Elizabeth Lookout.

6:23 p.m., Tulloch Reservoir — A driver said people were jumping off the O'Byrnes Ferry Road bridge. A deputy was unable to find the jumpers.

7:01 p.m., Tuolumne — A caller said a man dressed in camouflage clothing was in Carters Cemetery on Cemetery Lane.

8:03 p.m., Tuolumne — A caller said a man wearing shorts and a plaid shirt was along Tuolumne Road North acting strange.

8:04 p.m., Jamestown — A CDF crew asked for help with a fire at an abandoned house on the 18100 block of Eighth Avenue where transients were living.

9:33 p.m., Twain Harte — A woman said a man was looking into vehicles along Manzanita Drive.

11:31 p.m., Crystal Falls — A caller said a pay telephone at Crystal Falls Mini-Mart on the 20900 block of Longeway Road was blown up. Two men in a dark colored car were seen fleeing the area. A deputy found pieces of metal from what is believed to be a pipe bomb. The store was not damaged.

11:37 p.m., Jamestown — A caller said two men in a white four-door sedan had been parked on Reservoir Road for about a half hour and the caller thought it was suspicious.

Felony bookings

SATURDAY

1:32 a.m., Sonora — Theodore Britton Yates, 44, 200 block of Semple, Modesto, booked on a state parole hold after a Sonora police officer stopped him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol on South Washington Street. He remained held without bail this morning.

SUNDAY

1:25 a.m., Sonora — Charles Bernard Justice, 45, 25600 block of Clover Street, Hayward, booked on a state parole hold after an arrest on the 100 block of South Washington Street, Sonora. A bartender at the Sonora Inn said Justice and some other men were drunk and fighting in front of the bar. Justice remained held without bail this morning.

YESTERDAY

1:43 a.m., Sonora — Nicholas William Keuning, 18, 21300 block of Crestview Drive, Sonora, booked on suspicion of felony vandalism after arrest on Pesce Way, Sonora.

According to a Sonora police report, a woman said while she and a female friend were stopped at a light on Greenley Road and Mono Way, a man sitting with others at the northwest corner of the intersection jumped in front of her car, made obscene hip gestures and broke out one of her tail lights.

The woman drove away, but stopped at a gas station on South Washington Street to check the damage to her car. When she noticed the car was dented and the tail light was broken, she called police on her cell phone.

While she was on the telephone, the same man drove up, got out of his car and started pummeling her car with his fists. The woman drove away again, but described the man and the car he was in to the police.

An officer saw a man matching the description at a gasoline station on Pesce Way with his hand wrapped in a bandage. The officer questioned Keuning and then arrested him. He remained held this morning in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Erin Melissa McCormick, 33, 11100 block of Golf Links Road, Jamestown, booked at 10:35 p.m. Friday after arrest on Highway 108 at Fifth Avenue, Jamestown.

Aaron Russell McAnally, 28, 400 block of Ventanas Avenue, Oakdale, booked at 9:30 p.m. Saturday after arrest on Tulloch Reservoir. A boat patrol deputy stopped McAnally on suspicion of operating a boat under the influence of alcohol.

Gregory James Orsik, 41, 600 block of South Stewart Street, Sonora, booked at 2:25 a.m. Sunday after arrest on Stewart and Lytton streets, Sonora.

Sonora police reports

SUNDAY

2:15 a.m., vehicle theft — A man who matched the description of a man wanted on suspicion of stealing a vehicle was seen running across a parking lot on Live Oak Terrace.

9:46 a.m., traffic violation — A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license after an officer stopped him on Saratoga Road.

11:12 a.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in a traffic accident on Mono Way.

11:57 a.m., animal complaints — A caller said a skunk was wandering around Columbia Way and had been for most of the morning.

12:34 p.m., animal complaints — A box of kittens was found at a Columbia Historic State Park restroom. The finder was told to take them to the police department. The kittens were taken to the animal control shelter in Jamestown.

3 p.m., public intoxication — A caller said a man who was "very drunk or hurt badly" was in front of a restaurant on the 600 block of South Washington Street. An officer arrested a 59-year-old man on suspicion of public intoxication.

7:02 p.m., public fight — A caller said neighbors were yelling and throwing things at their house on the 400 block of Golden Lane.

7:25 p.m., theft — A woman said her backpack was stolen from her unlocked vehicle parked in a lot on the 1100 block of Sanguinetti Road.

8:34 p.m., theft — A man said a box of checks was stolen from his car parked on the 100 block of North Washington Street.

11:53 p.m., found property — A man found what appeared to be a bag of methamphetamine on the floor of a store on the 300 block of South Washington Street.

Fires

SATURDAY

1 a.m., Standard area — Two small arson fires were reported on Highway 108. Anyone with information is asked to call CDF Battalion Chief Richard Imlach at 532-0821. CDF and Tuolumne County Fire Department responded.

12:18 p.m., Tuolumne — A 1-acre grass fire was reported on the 15800 block of Apple Colony Road. Dollar damage was estimated at $500 to grass and a mower. Mike Fehr of the same address owns the property. CDF, U.S. Forest Service, two crews from Baseline Conservation Camp, all aircraft from Columbia Air Base, Tuolumne County Fire Department and Tuolumne Fire Protection District responded.

1:20 p.m., Twain Harte — A small spot fire was reported on the 23400 block of Lakewood Drive. The fire was caused by children playing with matches. Sharon Wechsler of Danville owns the property. No dollar damage was reported. CDF, Mi-Wuk-Sugar Pine Fire Protection District, two crews from Baseline Conservation Camp, U.S. Forest Service, all aircraft from Columbia Air Base and Twain Harte Community Services District Fire Department responded.

3:30 p.m., Tuttletown area — A fire was reported to a 1990 travel trailer on the 8700 block of Wilcox Ranch Road. Dollar damage was estimated at $1,000. Victor Stuart of the same address owns the trailer. Cause is under investigation. CDF responded.

SUNDAY

10:52 a.m., Lake Camanche — A caller at a marina reported a group of people driving recklessly around the parking lot.

11:25 a.m., Valley Springs — A newspaper was reported stolen from a box on the 8000 block of Highway 26.

2:08 p.m., Arnold — Windows were reported broken at two adjacent businesses on the 1000 block of Highway 4.

8:48 p.m., Angels Camp — A caller near the Glory Hole Recreation Area said a man was sleeping in a beat-up blue van.

8:49 p.m., Valley Springs — A caller on the 100 block of Laurel Street said that a person driving a tan truck threw a rock at a boy who was walking.

9:49 p.m., Copperopolis — A caller on the 2000 block of Beaver Road said squatters were taking things from a house.

YESTERDAY

12:28 a.m., Murphys — A man outside a saloon was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.

1:09 a.m., Arnold — A caller on the 1000 block of Meadowview Road said a man was going through garbage behind a shopping center.

3:03 a.m., San Andreas — A 22-year-old Ukiah man was booked on suspicion of spousal battery after he turned himself in. He was still in custody this morning in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Kelly Gust, 37, 17000 block of Butte Mountain Road, Jackson, booked at 11:35 p.m. Sunday after arrest in San Andreas on Highway 49 near Lombardi Road.

David Warren Whiting, 48, 600 block of Van Ness Street, San Francisco, booked at 11:35 p.m. Saturday after arrest in San Andreas on Highway 49 and Mountain Ranch Road.

Fire

FRIDAY

3:48 p.m., Copperopolis — A 63-acre grass fire was reported on the 5100 block of Chuck Wagon Road. Dollar damage was estimated at $2,600 to grass and three vehicles. Willie Pitman of Stockton owns the property. CDF, U.S. Forest Service, one bulldozer from Altaville, one bulldozer from Baseline, two crews from Vallecito, all aircraft from Columbia Air Base, Murphys Fire Protection District and San Andreas Fire Protection District responded.

SUNDAY

4:15 p.m., Copperopolis area — A vehicle fire was reported on Highway 4 at Vista Point. Dollar damage was estimated at $300 to a 1984 Jeep Cherokee. Owner is undetermined. CDF and Copperopolis Fire Protection District responded
