Sheriff's reports

MONDAY

7:03 a.m., Gibbs Ranch — A woman on the 11000 block of Harrison Drive said several items were stolen from her unlocked vehicle, including a tool box and stereo.

7:36 a.m., Rancho Sonora Estates — A man on the 11000 block of Curry Drive said his vehicle was broken into, but nothing was taken.

7:43 a.m., Columbia area — A woman on the 11000 block of Green Street said a new woman's silver and black bicycle was in front of her house.

8:08 a.m., Tuolumne — A man on the 10000 block of Sparrow Hawk Lane said Sunday night his son heard a noise in the garage and went to investigate. The boy found a man in the garage trying to steal a motorcycle. The man pushed the motorcycle onto the boy to get away.

8:28 a.m., Gibbs Ranch — A woman on the 11000 block of Coopers Court said the gasoline cap from her car was on top of the car, but no gasoline appeared to have been taken.

8:32 a.m., Groveland — A man went to Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment after a man came to his house on Mueller Drive and punched him in the head during an argument.

9:44 a.m., Pinecrest — A man said a small boy, who appeared to be lost, was crying. When the man approached him the boy ran off. Fire department personnel picked up the boy and he was reunited with his father.

10:50 a.m., Columbia area — A caller on the 22400 block of Airport Road South said a cane, cash and prescription medication were stolen from his house.

1:11 p.m., Don Pedro Reservoir — A man found a .38 caliber pistol underwater on the shoreline at Kanaka Cove.

3:40 p.m., East Sonora — A caller said a woman was in a parking lot at The Junction shopping center when a woman started screaming for someone to call police.

7:53 p.m., Jamestown — A woman said a man with black hair, beard, green T-shirt and jeans was sitting in Rocca Park drinking vodka and bothering people.

8:04 p.m., Columbia — A woman said a woman's bicycle was stolen from her house on the 10900 block of Green Street.

8:16 p.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 18200 block of Main Street said a stereo was stolen.

8:31 p.m., Soulsbyville — A woman said a boy hit her son with a dog's choke chain on Highway 108 near Soulsbyville Road.

9:13 p.m., Tuolumne — A man on the 18400 block of Bay Street said he came home and discovered someone poured gasoline all over his house.

9:30 p.m., Soulsbyville — A woman on the 16300 block of Draper Mine Road said she saw a mountain lion on her property.

9:40 p.m., Twain Harte — A 31-year-old Twain Harte man was arrested on misdemeanor warrants for four counts of drunken driving, two counts of driving on a license suspended for drunken driving and two counts of failure to appear in court. He was stopped by a deputy on East Avenue.

10:55 p.m., Jamestown — A 31-year-old man was arrested on a misdemeanor Calaveras County warrant after a deputy was called to Buck Brush Lane by a caller who said a suspicious car was parked at the end of the road.

YESTERDAY

2:23 a.m., Rancho Sonora Estates — A man on the 11000 block of Racetrack Road said someone tried to break into his vehicle, but ran around the back of his house when he saw them.

3:51 a.m., Jamestown — A caller said a man was lying down on the side of Highway 108 near Rawhide Road in what looked like a pile of trash.

Felony bookings

MONDAY

7:48 a.m., Sonora — Brandon Lee Smith, 20, 18200 block of Maple Alley, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of burglary and receiving stolen property after an arrest on Morningstar Drive.

According to a Sonora police report, a woman on South Stewart Street said a man was going through her car. The man ran off toward Mono Way. An officer talked with the woman and got a description of the man.

A few minutes later a woman on Golden Street saw a man squatting near her car. He ran away east on Cemetery Lane toward Morningstar. Officer John Bowly saw the man and stopped him. He identified himself as Smith and allowed Bowly to look into his bag. Bowly found some of the items he thought might be stolen from the woman's car on Stewart Street. She came up to Morningstar and identified the items.

Smith remained held this morning in lieu of $15,000 bail.

11:43 a.m., Sonora — Jacob Daniel Gosselin, 20, 700 block of North Gratton Avenue, Stockton, booked on a warrant charging him with escaping from a jail. Gratton was transferred to the jail from Sierra Conservation Center. He remained held this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

4:20 p.m., Twain Harte — Irma Marie Ornelas, 51, Mi Wu Street, Tuolumne, booked on a warrant charging her with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, failure to appear and violating her probation after an arrest on Highway 108 at East Avenue. She was also booked on a felony parole hold. She remained held without bail this morning.

Sonora police reports

MONDAY

1:06 a.m., forgery — A 30-year-old man was booked on suspicion of possessing counterfeit money after a traffic stop on the 13200 block of Mono Way.

2 a.m., public intoxication — A 43-year-old man was booked on suspicion of public intoxication after a caller said two men were seeking pain medication from Tuolumne General Hospital and refused to leave when denied the drugs.

10:01 a.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in a traffic accident on Shaws Flat Road.

10:35 a.m., burglary — A caller said a car parked on the 600 block of Orchard Avenue was broken into and gasoline siphoned out.

11:37 a.m., vandalism — A caller said a front door was shattered at a house on the 400 block of South Washington Street.

1:37 p.m., theft — A woman on the 500 block of Snell Street said a yellow sprinkler valued at $24 was stolen from her front yard.

1:44 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller said a strange man came into a business on the 30 block of South Washington Street saying people were coming through the floors of his house and he needed an attorney.

2:01 p.m., traffic violation — A 31-year-old woman was cited for driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop on South Washington Street.

2:10 p.m., theft — A caller said gasoline was siphoned out of a vehicle parked on Macomber Avenue.

6:48 p.m., vehicle theft — A stolen vehicle was found on Chukar Circle.

10:40 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A woman on Elkin Street said someone keeps kicking her house and running away.

11:31 p.m., public intoxication — A 48-year-old man was booked on suspicion of public intoxication after an arrest on the 500 block of South Stewart Street.

YESTERDAY

7:20 p.m., Tuolumne — A trash can fire was reported in Tuolumne Memorial Park. No damage was reported. Tuolumne Fire Protection District responded.

MONDAY

8:20 a.m., Mountain Ranch — Two dogs were stolen from the 6500 block of Rail Road Flat Road.

9:01 a.m., Mokelumne Hill — A purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 8300 block of Stevenson Street.

11:51 a.m., Copperopolis — A caller on the 100 block of Athena Way said threats were made from a fired employee.

8:13 p.m., Mokelumne Hill — Two people were bothering others on Highway 49.

8:15 p.m., Arnold — A contractor pulled off a job on the 2000 block of Patricia Lane for not receiving any payment.

9:32 p.m., Rail Road Flat — Neighbors were arguing on the 100 block of Rail Road Flat Road.

10:01 p.m., San Andreas — A caller on Russells Road said a man was chasing someone while yelling obscenities.

10:07 p.m., San Andreas — A man on the first block of East St. Charles Street was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.

11:20 p.m., Valley Springs — A man on the 8500 block of Hautley Lane said someone shot at his dog with a shotgun.

YESTERDAY

12:18 a.m., San Andreas — A caller said someone in a maroon sedan threw lit cigarettes out of the car onto Pool Station Road.

Felony bookings

YESTERDAY

2:15 a.m., Angels Camp — Megan Marney Smith, 27, 1100 block of Bush Street, Angels Camp, booked on a felony battery charge. As of this morning, Smith remained in custody at the Calaveras County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
