Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

8:08 a.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 10200 block of Preston Lane said the turn signal arm on her steering column was broken.

9:11 a.m., Groveland — A construction trailer parked at the Groveland Landfill on Merrell Road was vandalized. A generator valued at $1,500 and an automotive battery valued at $100 were damaged.

11:07 a.m., Columbia — A weed eater, valued at $350, was reported stolen from the front porch of a house on the 22000 block of Parrotts Ferry Road.

1:54 p.m., Columbia — A cell phone and a tape recorder were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 21900 block of Red Gulch Road.

2:31 p.m., Jamestown — A man on the 18700 block of Jamestown Road said another man and a woman were stealing things from his truck.

2:51 p.m., East Sonora — A woman at a restaurant in The Junction shopping center said two people were having trouble standing and almost fell out of their chairs. A deputy arrived and arrested a 58-year-old man on warrants charging him with public drunkenness.

4:42 p.m., East Sonora — A 72-year-old woman was given a ride home by a deputy after she became disoriented at The Junction shopping center.

5:18 p.m., Columbia — A house on the 22000 block of Quail Mine Road was burglarized and the owner said $340 was stolen from a purse.

YESTERDAY

5:05 a.m., Moccasin — A 20-year-old Sonora man was found safe near Don Pedro Reservoir after getting lost in Tuesday's rainstorm. He had gone for a hike Tuesday and when it got foggy, he could not see to get back.

11:22 a.m., Big Hill — Richard Rubin Barreras, 32, no address given, booked on a Santa Clara County warrant charging him with possessing a controlled substance and misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance after an arrest on Quail Mine Road. He remained held without bail this morning.

12:51 p.m., Long Barn — A 46-year-old Long Barn man booked on suspicion of making criminal threats and harming an elderly person in his care after arrest at his home.

According to a sheriff's department report, the man pushed his mother down and she hit her head on the corner of a doorway. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $25,000 bail.

5:05 p.m., Groveland — Larry Wayne Fischer, 41, 20400 block of Old Highway 120, Groveland booked on a San Luis Obispo County warrant charging him with grand theft and violation of probation and a new arrest on suspicion of drunken driving and driving on a suspended license after an arrest on Highway 120 east of Wards Ferry Road. He remained held without bail this morning.

7:15 p.m., Tuolumne — Mason Gerald Wolther, 24, 16100 block of Yosemite Road, Sonora, booked on suspicion of felony drunken driving causing injuries after an arrest on North Tuolumne Road. No details were available this morning from California Highway Patrol. He was released after posting $8,000 bail.

9:55 p.m., Gibbs Ranch — A 54-year-old man Sonora man booked on a warrant charging him with child molestation after arrest at his home. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $40,000 bail.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Joan Marie Russell, 45, 200 block of North Second Street, Berry, Ky., booked at 3 a.m. yesterday after arrest on Jackson Street at Lower Sunset, Sonora.

TUESDAY

12:34 a.m., suspicious circumstances — An officer spoke with a man near a business on the 100 block of South Washington Street.

8:52 a.m., suspicious circumstances — An officer checked on a vehicle on Child Road.

10:48 a.m., fight — Two people were seen fighting in Courthouse Square on the first block of South Washington Street.

10:55 a.m., vandalism — A woman said a fence and gates were vandalized on the 900 block of South Washington Street.

10:59 a.m., public peace — An employee at the emergency room at Tuolumne General Hospital on the 100 block of Hospital Road said a man refused to leave the hospital after being medically cleared.

1:42 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A woman said a man was hassling her 17-year-old son who was sitting in a pickup waiting for his mother to finish shopping at a business in Sonora Plaza on the 700 block of Mono Way.

1:47 p.m., found property — An employee at a business on the 100 block of South Washington Street said an out-of-town customer left a black purse behind

3:31 p.m., traffic accident — A non-injury crash was reported at the intersection of Mono Way and Greenley Road.

3:35 p.m., animal complaint — An anonymous caller said a pitbull-mix dog was chained up in the rain on the 500 block of Dragoon Circle. The caller was concerned because it appeared the dog could not reach its house.

3:48 p.m., traffic accident — A non-injury hit-and-run crash involving a vehicle parked behind a business on South Stewart Street was reported.

4:33 p.m., suspicious circumstances — Four or five kids were reported walking up North Washington Street carrying flags.

5:55 p.m., vandalism — A woman on the 60 block of McCormick Drive said someone vandalized her vehicle after 10 p.m. Monday.

7:07 p.m., suspicious circumstances — An officer walking on South Green Street reported an unspecified event.

10:25 p.m., suspicious circumstances — An officer checked on a vehicle at a business on the 10 block of South Stewart Street.

11:28 p.m., warrant arrest — A 45-year-old man was arrested after a traffic stop on Parrotts Ferry Road on misdemeanor warrants charging possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less an ounce of marijuana and two traffic infractions.

11:40 p.m., vandalism — A man called 911 and said another man punctured two tires on the caller's vehicle parked in a lot on the 200 block of Greenley Road. The vandalism occurred after an argument over money.

Fires

YESTERDAY

5:30 p.m., East Sonora — A fire was reported to an electrical outlet on the 19200 block of Rock Ridge Way. Damage to the wiring was estimated at $200. Landowner is Donna Ruff, of the same address. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne County Fire Department and Sonora City Fire Department responded.

7:30 p.m., Columbia area — A flue fire was reported on the 21900 block of Sawmill Flat Road. No dollar damage was reported. Landowner is Patricia Tremenan of the same address. Tuolumne County Fire Department, Columbia Fire Protection District, California Department of Forestry and Sonora City Fire Department responded.

Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

3:25 a.m., San Andreas — A caller said she was followed from Valley Springs to her home in San Andreas. When a deputy arrived, the people were gone.

9:34 a.m., West Point — Gasoline was reported stolen from a car parked on the 22600 block of Highway 26.

YESTERDAY

1:03 a.m., Lake Camanche area — A man said his son, while walking home from a fishing outing, was challenged to a fight by three men. Deputies spoke with all parties and calmed them.

10:05 p.m., West Point — Clifton Wade Cornelius, 39, undisclosed address on Pine Cone Lane, West Point booked on suspicion of making criminal threats, being a felon in possession of a firearm and misdemeanor battery after an arrest at his home. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $30,000 bail.
